I have a 1943 Chevrolet Buffalo-C fire truck. It came with synchronized 4 speed transmission. No hydro vac brake. I did the upholstery, re wiring and paint myself. It was originally built and delivered to the army Corp of engineers in June, 1943. What the metal plate says.

The other viewer was correct. The 1946 came with a 216 straight six. This was not a bad engine for it's time, but the engine was considered a low oil pressure engine. The 235 had a better oil pressure system, and because of this was much more durable.

I just bought one of these to restore. Where would you find the identification number on it to figure out the year model?

I thought they put the 216 in the half ton and the 235 in the bigger trucks?
