- Settling is the confessional and poetic collaborative project between James Walker and Rain Adair.
Their upcoming EP, “Field of Vision”, is an urgent and emotive exploration of childhood trauma, addiction, loss, and eventual recovery. Taking sonic queues from Lowswimmer, The Japanese House, and Pinegrove, the deliberately spacious, imperfect and ethereal arrangements evoke feelings of nostalgia, melancholy and reflection.
Settling marks the beginning of a full year of releases for both James Walker and Rain Adair, with James launching 2 EPs and an album over 2024, and Rain set to announce many releases over the year.
“Field of Vision” is proof that shared trauma and hardship, when explored through creativity, can metamorphose into something beautiful.
Rain Adair is also known as Ashley Wilkie, frontman of MMX and Francesqa. He has toured with The 1975, Futures, and Kids In Glass Houses, as well as won a Kerrang! Award for Best British Newcomer. James Walker is a prolific songwriter signed to Snafu Records (Kevin Garrett, Sam Macpherson, RANI), his left-field and unique songs have gained him more than 30m plays to date, and tours all over.

Lyrics:
I will find the sweetness that heaven brings;
It embodies you, every corner of your colorful brain
I still remember the day my head broke down in a single bed
I remember the day, don’t remember the minute
Hated so many things, I’d be a fool to forget it
I’m so done
Suddenly I’m face down in water
Lost my footing on a lakeside
Soon enough I will be living up high
When I feel the weight pull me under
A view of a night sky
Fills my field of vision and I’m alive
For the first time in a long time
Everybody ‘fore you a settlement
I was blinded by the jewellery I pinned on them
I pedestaled you ’til you were out of reach
All the traps I set, I lay them at my own two feet
I’d be a fool to forget you now
So call me a fool
Suddenly I’m face down in water
Lost my footing on a lakeside
Soon enough I will be living up high
When I feel the weight pull me under
A view of a night sky
Fills my field of vision and I’m alive
For the first time in a long time
Suddenly I’m face down in water
Lost my footing on a lakeside
Soon enough I will be living up high
When I feel the weight pull me under
A view of a night sky
Fills my field of vision
And I’m alive
