This is why I love Star Wars squadrons , we actually see the war from the empires perspective , which only a few games show , I love the single campaign and the personal story between lindon and kerrial , I also love how squadrons goes into the beliefs of some of titans squadron and shows their view point of the war , grey says that he believes that the empire will bring peace , order and security to the galaxy while vonreg fights to avenge her family that was killed by rebel alliance . Showing that people will join a cause for completely different reasons . I also love the relationship between the the titan squadron members , it seems like they’ve been friends for a long time and have each other’s backs, I also love how they treat the player , as they welcome us into their family , I just get so happy how they congratulate the player as he/she blast rebel Star fighters out of the sky and I also like that when you got a rebel on your tail , one or all of the rest of titan squadron will stop what they are doing and come over to assist you , it just adds to how much they love and care about each other , I wish we saw the war from the empire’s side more , I even love how captain kerrial and LT even praises the player and it comes across to me that captain kerrial don’t see titan squadron as expendable but she sees them as family and that goes for LT as well , he’s one of the best characters ever as he tries to explain to captain kerrial that her pride and her ego would be her downfall . Lt also wishes us good luck and says that we are a very great pliot and he’s just a very great guy . When grey and shen say that they are happy and honored to follow the player into battle , it hits hard ( in a good way ) it shows us that they view they player as family and a great friend , I also love sol and vonreg relationship with the player , whenever you need a resupply or got someone on your tail , sol is aways there to protect you (like a big sister ) , shen is most interesting to me as much of his past is a mystery and the player never sees his face but more then likely he’s deformed , I think it’s cool when shen ask the player can he have his revenge on anvil squadron ( almost like a kid asking his older brother to do something naughty ) , grey is very important as well as he breaks the stereotype of what you’re thinking a imperial is , i honestly don’t like how Star Wars rebels portrayed the Empire , the empire in rebels are treated like cartoon villains instead of a legitimate real threat , I honestly feel like the empire were only taken seriously in the original trilogy and the bad batch . Grey is a great leader and looks after his squadron as well as learns from his mistakes and listens to other’s opinions , I love that in the short film , grey says the war isn’t over for him ( showing that no matter that the emperor and Darth Vader are dead ) he will fight it to his last breath for a cause that he believes in . Much like grand Admiral Thrawn . Grey has honor and will show it to a enemy . Now vonreg , besides the player , vonreg is probably the most dangerous pilot and her brutal way of thinking reminds me of governor price from rebels , I love how she encourages the player to show no mercy to the rebel scum and to destroy the civilian transport ships . Besides sol , she’s also there for the player and is always on the players wing and will brutally attack anyone who tries to hurt the player , I do feel bad for her because her brothers were killed during the battle of Endor as well as a great number of tie pilots , she even says nothing fuels a person like anger . The mission where the player leads titan squadron and vonreg comments that the player is on a roll . It’s just so heartwarming that she tells us that , she’s congratulating us and showing us respect . I love titan squadron and I hope that one day , that we will get a dlc .
But it really should have the same fire rate as the interceptor, that’s what made it so deadly apart from it having shields it was basically an interceptor with a third more firepower but I kinda get why they slowed the fire rate down as it would be too OP but still kinda sad
The best thing about the Defender is you can overcharge real quick. Power to engines? You’ll get boost faster than the other TIEs. Power to lasers? You’ll recharge and overcharge as fast as those burst three shot lasers for the TIE Fighter. The rapid fire lasers charge fast but not that fast. And they’re weaker than the standard laser for the TIE Interceptor. Power to shields? It’s like having the rapid shields on except the Defender doesn’t have that. You’ll get shields up and overcharged no sweat. But it looks like you need to use your engines more to get towards enemies, reduce throttle to half speed (the stuck out block chunk) to turn and keep them on your sights. Then you could switch power to lasers to get overcharge bonus damage to get through shields and tear down their hulls. But they’ll know you’re on them because your missile lock gives you away. Since you have a missile lock, you’ll want to get closer so it could hit them and they can’t use countermeasure in time to stop it.
I have another tip that can help you out. I think you’ll like the results. 1. Go to Options 2. Head to Controls Okay now here’s something you’ll want to do. 1. Keep “Use Throttle Friction” on (green slide) so you can head to half speed without overshooting it. 2. Turn off “Throttle Down to Stop Boosting” (red slide) so that you don’t wind up canceling boost when trying to micro drift. Micro drift is when you boost, turn, cancel drift while you turn. But the catch is when you turn while it’s cancelled, you put the throttle to half speed and you can turn faster. 3. Go to “Shield Focus & Power Conversion Controls” and move it from “Hold” to “Combo.” a. Here’s the reason, you’d have to hold a key on PC or a button on controller to Power Shunt TIEs or to Focus Shields on Front or Back in Rebel ships and Support Ships. That takes too much time, especially when being shot at. b. For me as an Xbox player, I choose Combo to tap the X button once to Shunt power to engines to get boost (which takes away from my laser ammo) or focus shields to my back when shot at. If I double-tap the X button, I Shunt power to lasers to get overcharged lasers from the filled boost meter (from the engines) or focus my shields to the front in case I’m caught in a joust. Now if I want to balance things out then I hold the X button to put shields back on both front and back. c. The TIE defender is great for a balance of defensive and offensive maneuvers
Its speed, strength, and has great weapons
