I’ve done a few ls motors with hi ram and dual dbw throttle bodies on the top. Buy a blank carb top and it’ll pick up more from smoothing out the air and slowing it down.
Is that a 4.125" stroker or is it a 4.185 x4" engine? Really surprised at the power curve! I expected to see 7500 rpm powerband especially with a super short runner like the BTR Trinity. Until the Hi-ram run I thought there was something goofy going on with the hydraulic lifters maybe it nosedives HARD.
I'm definitely seeing the cubic inches in the torque figures 665 ft lb is stout. My 12.5:1 compression 427 made 608 ft lb at 5800 with a CID intake, and peaked 746hp at 7100 rpm. Duration was not far off, but I used a much higher lift lobe .775"/.751" lift. With torque peak coming in at 5300 you can definitely use more duration - will be an exciting comparison.
What heads? I have a 427 as well with mast heads with same compression and a new 4.5csa cid to put on @MPbdy
Agree this test needed to go up in rpm for btr to shine. The msd would have done well on this test especially with work done from iron mask

Ah yes. The MSD Atomic Air Force intake for the LS7. It's a great intake once you sort out all the QC shortcomings. It's no surprise there are design oversights that did not allow for use of a 4 corner steam vent configuration. Too bad really, there are a lot of guys running them and MSD has yet to add a few much needed improvements.
How close are the fast lsxhr and the carbon ptr?
I wonder how much a build like this

I have a CID LS3 intake as well as a GM performance parts LS3 dual plane. I've only seen this dual plane appear in an engine Masters competition where it did well , but I've never seen anyone else test the thing. If you plan on doing another LS3 intake manifold video within the next 2 months I would gladly send you those manifolds to see the results.

I'm really surprised by how hard the BTR and PTR intakes fell off, I was thinking it was a valve control issue until the Highram test. I thought they would carry much better than that
As always, great video, you guys provide really good information. Probably need a camshaft like a 284/ 298 at least 750 lift with those big heads. I think it’s going to make 800 hp or more.
I have those same heads going on a 427. If that’s all the power it makes I would be disappointed. I’m Going with a bigger cam and a cid . We shall see.

Cam is already pretty big as it is and it already started to tapper off at 6.9k

Should make 800+ HP with a good cam. Get a Cam Motion low lash solid roller for it.
Cam specs would be very cool as a data point. Must have been very conservative
How much ignition timing did you end up running with the f710 heads?
I’m not impressed with the BTR Al all. It’s making factory LS3 numbers.
It's an 8000+RPM race intake, it wasn't intended for this sort of application. Still a good data point for reference though(don't buy the wrong intake for your combo lol).

@@RyTrapp0 yet the Holly High Ram had no issue maintaining its power at the higher RPM and barely starts to drop off. The Cam is also quiet big so its clearly not the issue.
Hard to beat the Holley Hi Ram. Those heads are salami's .
