She is not saying it but I know a lot of people with some level of fear of heights. Someone with any level of fear of height sitting at 8000 feet with your shoulder brushing against a flimsy clear plastic door might be having some subliminal freak out going on. Maybe an opaque door with a small window might help.

Tomias Thexder I spoke with Trent in person at Oshkosh and worked the flight line while they competed in STOL. The amount of preparation and safety these guys employ before, during, and after the flights is incredible. Usually it is cut out to avoid boredom, and if the situation is critical enough, no cameras are present so they can fully focus on the situation without worrying about filming it. Very rarely do they ever wing it, and everyone is always watching each other’s backs.

As of now, if I were the Bose people I would use a snapshot of the part of your video showing her headphones in the next ad campaign. "Even non- flyers prefer Bose." I also take my hat off for Hal who made an engine replacement in the middle of nowhere. Please tell Hailie that I get the same bad feeling everytime I take a flight in a helicopter maybe because of the exposure to the outside of the plane. I hated to ride door with my feet hanging outside a Huey when I was in the Army. I preferred the middle seat.

While I don't have a problem with the Patey brothers, I just don't care for Draco. It's just too much, too big, too much power, too much clearance, etc. It takes the skill and fun out of flying. He can do whatever he wants as it is his money but the Kitfox is 10 time cooler and a cub is 12 times cooler than Draco.

@@crissd8283 Well that is what opinions are are, each plane has a place. Prior to Draco no one had the capability in a 4 place aircraft. There are specialized aircraft that can land and take off in less space but few with such panache, and most are single place purpose built. Draco was a sows ear that was made into a version of a silk purse. Personally I'd love to see a Fieseler Storch with a better engine and made of modern materials. It was a better STOL than the cub was, but that's just my opinion.

I was just in South Dakota last week and was thinking about you guys. I grew up in Yankton and that is where you guys stopped last year, so it was neat to see ole Dan Gurney airport get some press. Too bad you didn't make it there this year. Although Lincoln is pretty nice too. Thanks for taking the time to share all the adventure. Guys like Hal are one in a million. Have fun and Blue Skys!!

I'm so glad Hal landed safely and there was no damage to the plane! It's great that he has a replacement motor and will be able to complete the trip with you guys!
Side note: Have anyone of the Flying Cowboys looked into the Aeromomentum aircraft engines? You'll be safe!!

Doesn't she know it's cooler at 9K? LOL May be food for thought. This is a long trip to "get used to it" on. Hope it doesn't burn her out. Hang in there girl!! Were rooting for you!!!! Your bravery is inspirational. Seems like you have a great guy there to guide you. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I don't know if I'll graduate from Hang Gliding to Sport flying or not. Circling in a thermal can be WAY more nauseating than flat and level flight. Best to keep your eyes focused in the distance. Entertaining Sail Planes as a next step to be honest. Don't need ownership, just rent wherever you are. But I'm sure I have a lot to learn about that as well. Happy landings ALWAYS!! God Bless.

Well, I've been married for 51 years and I can't tell you how many times I've seen that "look" in a wife's eyes and expressions. Trust me on this one Trent, this will be Haley's last cross-country trip. So y'all have fun. Start looking for something she enjoys too.

We do the CA to WI flight a few times a year, usually with O2 at 15-17k over WY. My spouse is really sympathetic and thinks Halley is a great sport. It’s amazing how nice Nebraska can be after the Rockies! Enjoy the heat and humidity of Wisconsin!

Ripon to Fisk corridor - This is Hailey's first time to Oshkosh. It's a bucket list experience, Trent. She needs to experience the rush of the Ripon to Fisk experience.

Had the pleasure four times in the 80's in my bro-in-laws 150. Fisk controller said "36 right" then came on a minute later and said: "Pick it up a little, you got a twin on your tail" Bro-in-law, off mike: 'I'm pedalin' as fast as I can!" Good times.

Hang in there Hailey. Flying in small airplanes can be a harsh environment for nonpilots. But the more you do it the more you get use to it. Took my wife a little while but now she really enjoys it. Cheers

Good on Hal for managing a safe landing after a catastrophic engine failure, but to be honest, I'm not surprised that the engine failed. The Zipper and Edge Performance aftermarket pistons have an inferior piston skirt design that's known to cause connecting rod failures. VZPower, with their turbo kits, changed their piston design in 2018 and I assume that this is the reason why. It's also worth noting that that the FlyGas supercharger kit uses a spacer for the cylinder to reuse the OEM piston, instead of an aftermarket unit. Admittedly you don't kit the weight savings of the billet cylinders from Zipper or Edge, but it should make for a more reliable installation.
