In this culture, people, often students or someone new in an area, will reach out to the local professional personnel to understand their career stories, industrial trends, and the local hiring market news. Students, most business school students, want to build their network and explore off-maket opportunities via this process. Although not everyone in the industry likes to share their experience with others, most people are still willing to share their knowledge and expand their network with students or new people. However, even though I understand that it is a kind of networking, I still feel awkward and don't know how to show my strength during this interaction. I will appreciate if Carrie can provide some tips for this kind of conversation.

很实用的观点。其实对母语也一样，听不懂不能假装听懂。有一次在电梯上我和一个同事说话，电梯里环境不好，那个同事说了句什么话，都是中文，我没听懂，然后我就问他说了什么。他重复一次后我还是没听懂。我就又问他，他又重复，我还是没听懂。最后我就不问了，假装听懂了，然后说哦哦，假装笑笑。结果人家也看出来了。很尴尬。。。

我曾经有个印度邻居，我是真的听不懂一点，特别简单的沟通都很难😂导致我就很少跟他们聊天，就干脆打个招呼就好
@@Jane-gd2dq 印度人也要分。口音不太重的多数是高种姓的，生活在贫困区的低种姓人口音会重到听不懂。
就像在上海广州深圳长大的学生，口语就非常好。
