I find it so refreshing to see another large family living in a modest size home. My children will most likely never have their own rooms, and sometimes I find myself watching other youtube families and almost feeling guilty, as if im doing something wrong by not having a massive home with endless bedrooms. I try to remind myself that keeping up with the Joneses doesn't equal happiness. Anyhow, I love the new house! Enjoy all of the new memories with your sweet family :)

Cozmic Kitten we are unwillingly living in a huge 4 bed house with our 3 kids .... they still all sleep in the same room and it drives me nuts we are stuck here! Looking forward to downsizing something major when we head back to the USA! Don’t feel guilty, big houses make life SO UNMANAGEABLE!

You actually made me tear up with this video because your house is small and older( mine is too) and while our houses are both cute and full of potential I always find myself wanting bigger, newer, and things finished now. I need to be more thankful for what we have. Thank you for your wonderful perspective.

We finished our garage too and quickly found out that it is VERY expensive to put in walls and remove garage doors so instead of pulling them out we put in a wall about a foot and a half behind the doors, this sealed off the room and created a huge closet to put in all of the outside stuff like bikes etc. it’s worked out really well and was a lot cheaper.

I have built 3 homes in 19 years...we moved out of the first one which was small. Soooo miss that first house. Our current home we built is super nice, like a resort and thankfully feels way smaller ( but it is about 2,500 sq feet) ...but honestly...having less is better. I miss the simplicity of a home that is cozy and quaint, easy to afford, and easy to care for. Most people think they want and need the biggest house they can afford. I never wanted a huge house, was hubbys idea. But, thankfully for us, we are a family of 8 and maybe way more to come so at least we use every corner of our house. I can not imagine how our neighbors live in their houses which are twice as big as our home and only have 4 people. Yikes. Btw....you will make your home a true family house, can not wait to see you make it your own!!!!

I LOVE all the features in the older homes! We have one ourselves, and I'm not changing it! Everybody's homes nowadays are so cookie cutter! Just the same thing everywhere, and to me, that is so boring! I love my popcorn sealing, red brick fireplace, original wood cabinets. I would love to have a glass closet door in the bedroom though! I see why you love it! It is so refreshing to be different instead of boring! :) You have a lovely home! Congratulations!

I wonder. You said the left behind washer and dryer are old as well as great. Perhaps you would be wise to keep the ones you brought with you in a corner (perhaps under the stairs in the basement), so that when the ones in the laundry closet die, you can just put the spare straight in it's place, rather than have to buy new ones?

I just love your house!! My husband & I also have 7 kids and live in a small house also built in the 80s. Little by little we are making it our own. Recently removed all the carpet and have wood floors now. I love that there are others out there that feel the same as us...you don't have to have a big house to have a big family, you just need big love!! I also think that there is something special about having a big family in a small house... you're always near each other. We were recently able to pay off our mortgage now too, and it is amazing to live debt free. This is the benefits of living within your means. So happy for you!!

I’ve always wanted a bigger house because I grew up in a 900 square foot one with very little closet space, but the older I get the less I lean towards that idea. So glad that POTUS is on the mend and that you caught his discomfort quickly. I remember when you brought him home & he was just a baby in the videos you & Angie posted then. He’s grown so much. Love that you’re planning on painting the fireplace white, too. A living room with grey walls & a white fireplace is my dream, lol. :)

I really like house tours! Guess it’s from watching House Hunters on HGTV. What a nice home! Lots of room outside for the kids to play. Glad your cat is feeling better. Pets are family. Painting walls make such a big difference and isn’t too expensive. They have a water blocker paint you could put in that downstairs area and it would lighten it up. Mostly it’s white, but I know they could add a little color.

JOYFUL CHAOS most people in my part of the world live in houses far smaller than your average American house, even those considered starter homes. I can see how vast houses must be a relatively modern trend (aside from stately homes etc)

JOYFUL CHAOS I’m so excited for that video. People have already started giving me grief about having my two daughters share a room and they’re still toddlers 🙄
How much time do we spend in the bedroom anyway? It’s for sleeping and getting dressed.

We had the same thing happen to our cat and on the night that happened my husband's car broke down! Lovely home.
