Thank, at 28:50 the setstate do re render all chess pieces that provoke a latency at user interface between two moves i wait two or three seconds before can move a chess piece. I've attempt fix that with React.useMemo at Piece component but i dont success.
This works for me on the web browser when I code it in windows but when I use my expo go app on IOS it doesn’t register when I touch the board. Is there a fix for this?
What module do you use for the chess logic please ? I tried with chess.js, installed with npm install chess.js @types/chess.js, but it looks like they are not the same
This implementation is a great starter but trying to flip the orientation (basic feature) breaks the notation util functions completely. Anyone figure out a work around?

How many years of development would someone need to implement this as easily as you have? Should a junior be able to handle this? Cause it seems impossible to me haha.
seems something a junior can do, however, I did this and the tutorial is a bit off, i had to constantly check the source code to understand whats going on, no explanation how things work exactly pulling own hooks out of the blue, and lil bit outdated stuff such as chess.js library. And I am a senior developer.

I'm was having the same problem. In my case, all I had to do was to install @types/chess.js as a dependency instead of a dev dependency
