The queuegate scandal when he and Holly jumped the queue at the Queen's lying in state, which caused public outrage. His brother being tried and convicted of being a pedo, which must of undeniably outraged Holly. His souring relationship with Holly was showing as was the public and media was showing it all over the place, it was inevitably time for him to go. And lets be frank here, Phillip had been on This Morning far long enough, he is in his 60's now and its time for new and fresher faces and personalities to replace them all on the show.

Just cuz there isn’t any solid evidence that can be used in court doesn’t mean he didn’t do it. I’ve committed crimes I never got charged with due to lack of evidence. Does the lack if solid evidence that can be used in a court room mean I was innocent? No it doesn’t. Where there is smoke there is fire. @@johnross2924maybe not, but the point is that a successful TV personality developing a "friendship" with someone decades younger than him and helping him get into the industry isn't what people have a problem with. Youth outreach is after all a good thing. But knowing someone when they were a teenager then having a sexual relationship as shortly after it becomes "legal", when there is a power inbalence, is wrong. No question. Think about how HR departments hate a boss going into a relationship with an employee because of all the legal implications that can arise if it becomes sour. This is just a very extreme version of that. I'm trying to understand the perspective of people who are defending his actions, but I just cant. If anyone wants to I'm genuinely intersted.

I just dont think that is a convincing arguement because I'm not convinced that a young 16 year old would have the maturity to reject advances by someone like him who has much more power. And EVEN if he did, the power dynamic makes it inappropriate for Schofield to even let the relationship advance beyond a mentor role, regardless of who initiated it.
