I love it too growing up. we peeled off the stems, tossed it in salt and fresh hot pepper and eat it.
Bit late to the party but here in Australia, that is a hibiscus plant known as the Rosella Hibiscus. We make them into tea, jam and use them to flavour sparkling wine. I’ve got one growing in my yard and a jar of the flowers to make drinks with. The flowers “bloom” in the bottom of wine flutes whilst releasing a red syrup into the drink.
Esa es la flor de jamaica.....no la había visto fresca sino ya seca en bolsitas. Que excelente video! 👍
Dianxi am a Jamaican, it's so amazing to see that you have that in your country too, we make it every Christmas as a favorite drink to have with fruit cake.
This is called Galda in my native place.... Grown in every household in our backyard or in jhum cultivation.. We actually make their soft leaves n flower as a curry with dried fish and several meat for lunch n dinner to eat with rice..

Fresh Roselle is the best. The nutrients are as rich as cranberry and blueberry. There're tons of vitamin C and A. Good for eyes. There AHA for skin (should use the dried one). However, it effects to kidney, should eat with jujubes coz jujubes remedy kidneys. Roeselle shouldn't be consumed too long. However, I love it!!!
The season is arrive. There's lot of rich nutrients Roselle now! Thank you for reminding this, need to go to fresh market next week!

These are Rosella flower/fruit from the Rosella Hibiscus plant. This plant is actually a native of Africa. We grow it here in Australia where many people love to make jam from the flower/fruit. Many other countries also grow this plant and make cordials and tea from it also.
I never know the name in english lol
But here (Thailand) have a lot of them too
I use to grow Roselle behind my house and use them to make jam and juice out of it, I love the sour, sweet and tart taste to it, unfortunately, I couldn't grow roselle plants anymore because my house has a really small backyard but it's still nice to have store bought roselle jam and juice once in a while 🙂
The young leaves of this tree are edible . My grandma makes really good sweet pickle with them . ☺️
We will make pickle every year .. it will usefull for the hole year ..
