The biggest issue with Columbo was that it was balanced around deadeye and never rebalanced once it was removed. There was never a reason to go for it after that. Ohio, GK, Pruessen, and Schleifen are just better brawlers. And Montana, Yamato, and Repub were better snipers. So what’s the reason to get or even play columbo?? This upgrade is just a straight up buff it should have had. And when things like Gato, FDR, and Super CV’s exist, legendary upgrades that are just straight up buffs are the least of my issues
Imo columbo has been an absolute pain to fight in anything but a high hp ship cus with it's SAP it has done 15k+ reliably on superstructures (from what i've seen) so people saying it needs a buff is odd to me but Ig I haven't played long enough to see why it needs a buff
@@eggycroissant0778IMO Colombo is not that OP, it only gets 18.9 base range, a very long reload ,and its sap may seemed to be devastating but as your superstructure is saturated, the damage becomes much lower. Although Colombo have a smoke but its concealment and maneuverability are atrocious, you have a good front firing angle but a bad rear one. Overall fighting against this boat is not as torturing fighting those long range hard hitting HE spammers.
I have played recently, and tht thing absolutly tore through anything in its way with reliable 15k sap dmg salvos, and now that thing does that not at sub 13km, but even at max range you are now able to reliably hit 20k sap salvos. Colombo was pretty fine.@@eggycroissant0778
And one of the big things with SAP is that it's all PEN damage, not fires which are quite healable. Pen damage isn't quite so so many of the "tanky" ships that can heal a lot suffer heavily from getting sapd. Just one thing that people don't tend to talk much about.
03:50 don't run too much from the sub if he's under 3kms distance. Their torps will only do 10% damage. Also, this mod will be like the Gouden Leew one, there's already a few videos about the mod on launch day
As I said before, legendary modules for older ships need a revamp if the new ones are just going to be straight up buffs. A suggestion I had for Yamato is to give it a 17% reload nerf (35 second reload) in exchange for a 14% dispersion buff. Make it be either a sniper that can throw a bunch of shells at the wall with reload mod, or make it be an actual sniper that will 99% guaranteed delete someone in exchange for a slower firing rate.
My favorite example of how bad Unique Upgrades can be is Kremlin's UU, which gives -18% reload for -12%. So -6% reload for -12% range, terrible, except Kremlin has Napoli dispersion which is significantly affected by changes in range, making Kremlin's vertical dispersion 16% worse than reload mod (at specific ranges). And let's not forget it used to give -1 consumables, even after that buff It's still awful.
Honestly, reload aside, the dispersion buff should’ve been given to Columbo after the removal of Dead Eye since the ship was balanced around that Captain skill. Could’ve had a different kind of legmod altogether but oh well, better late than never.

While this is true, Italian shells were hot garbage, which their poor accuracy was representing. British accounts in WW2 note that the italians found their range incredibly fast, but that their salvoes had sometimes spread of over a mile.
The problem with sap is saturation. Look at the hits on the Marseille, you did 18k on 5 pens, then 14k on 5 pens, but the last salvo you did 5,375 on 4 pens. SAP does great damage on full health ships, but then it drops off!
Well the point is that the upgrades are very expensive. So yes, they should be always be a buff. No way I want to spend a ton of research points just to change the playstyle of a ship. I can just play another ship for that purpose.
Remember when they nerfed Zao's Leg Mod because it was too much obviously better? And they wanted it to be a 'sidegrade' instead. Pepperidge farm remembers. Poor Zao.

I am a little bit biased on the Battleships. I think the lower tier BB’s from any nation need a bit of a buff. A good example would be the USS TEXAS/ USS ARIZONA

I wasn't really keeping track of when this will relase. I was playing salem today against a colombo and got hit for 20k and i was like "damn, he got some good dispersion" next salvo he hits on me is 25k and i'm like "okay, did they relase the legendary mod already or something?" guess i was right

Tbh even without leg mod (i use range) colombo is awesome. As tanky as a Kremlin (If you know how to angle) Dealing 10-20k with SAP on range and Tearing anything apart at close range With AP Citadels. Its my Favourite ship and very strong just overlooked by the Sniping BB meta.
My opinion has been that legendary upgrades should not have a nerf on it. The existing mods that nerf an aspect of the ship should just be buffed to not have a nerf. Why would i want to use a "legendary" module that can make my ship worse in a certain aspect but better in another? No, just make the leg mods all buffs and no nerfs.

Once you fully research the like to tier 10, there’s a reset button at the bottom. Every 3 months you can reset to 2X research points. The harugumo Japanese DD line is the cheapest to reset by free XP.
Recently I've gotten a liking to playing light crusiers like colbert. What I realise from playing is that Colombo is terrifying for me to deal with. Looks like it's gonna be more scary now D: I am a Colombo enjoyer but I got no RB points so I think I'll be skipping this upgrade.
T7 is honestly very very good. Good armor, you overmatch stuff and SAP, I didn't liked the tier 8, Lepanto is OK, colombo is GOAT...ah, the tier 6 is also OK
I liked the grind even before the buffs. T5 is the best T5 BB. With T6 the line gets a lot more speed. I would say that T9 feeled as the weakest among them, but it's still better than Izumo
Considering how RNG Citadels at range tend to be, I prefer getting slapped 20-30k by SAP from Colombo than eating a random 1 shell overmatch citadel for 20-30k in my cruisers. SAP sure isn't balanced to begin with but with subs being subs and T11 existing, SAP, just like Main Battery Reload Booster, is fine these days.
If WG did this to Colombo with 16 canons I think they should buff Lauria too. Now theres no reasons to not buff 8 canons with wonky dispersion... Meanwhile to get lauria makes no sense

If you hit with 1 shell only in a turret or just on the deck your salvo made 0 damage... have you played with Lauria? Its fake in game "cruiser dispersion" is inaccurate most of the time
I decided to go and play wows after I watched this video, then I go into the armoury, and I see that the first thing in the random bundles for french destroyer is the Le Terrible. Should I pick it up for 1k dubs?
The crazy thing about this is that RB points are among the most time consuming or expensive "free" resources in the game to acquire and the newer players are always going to be focused on getting the ships available in RB first. What that means is that only the most experienced players likely with 21 pt commanders are going to pop for this. So they are giving an upgrade to what are arguably some of the best players in the game. That's not a very balanced way to run things. And it's going to be a turnoff to newer players trying to climb to tier 10 and beyond when they get slapped ridiculously hard with a Unicom that has a 21 pt special commander using a legendary mod.
I think its powerfull i thought the colombo was powerfull before, but i think a good nerf would be to take away 1 smoke charge? But i am not sure tho, anyways great video as always :D
I find most of the UUs are pretty bad. Yamato, Shimikaze, GL, Moskva, etc., seem to be improvements, but most aren't worth it. Maybe because they were designed when the game was different? This looks strong.
The UU should have been a buff to secondaries Like a super ifhe, idk, something to make them useful The trend of UUs being just Buffs is just another step on WGs stair of shit decisions
You need to not think of SAP like AP, you need to think of it like HE that rolls the average damage from burning into every salvo. It's perfectly fine and HE has been able to do 10k on a BB with a single 100mm DD gun hit (via fire) since the dawn of time.

I think its dumb legendary upgrades are a direct buff like this. They should rather be a alternative which can make the ship better in a different role than whats vanilla or main build. Its more tempting to use RP to buy cool ships than having to use it on Legendary modules to make certain tier 10 ships playable

How do you get research points? Ive heard you have to reset a tech line but I dont seem to have that option

Lauria's dispersion is similar to Thunderer's. Buffing it further would be too much
