@Thomas_H._Smith This is pretty cool. However, it's EXTREMELY sad that they had to bring back retired animators to do something that their current animators SHOULD be trained to do. It's insane that the art of 2D animation is something that modern animators don't even know how to do. What an absolute disgrace to Walt's legacy that the company wouldn't try to preserve the very thing that brought this company so much success in the first place.

I don't agree with everything Disney does. But this is by far one of the best things they've ever done. It truly feels like 100 years of animated movies was leading to this moment.
Here after having watched this short’s premiere, it is truly remarkable. Not only does it honor the studio’s original roots of which it was built upon, but it celebrates its entire filmography, whether it be its oldest movies, the movies from your childhood, or movies in recent years. Say what you want about Disney, but you can’t deny the legacy it has left behind. Thank you, Walt Disney. ❤️
I have not watched Wish (2023) from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Trolls: Band Together (2023) from DreamWorks Animation or Migration from Illumination yet but I would love to and I have watched Once Upon A Studio. I wonder why in December/November 2023 we got Wish instead of Zootopia 2 (Although Nick Wilde, Gazelle, Clawhauser, Fru Fru and Mr. Big and Judy Hopps appeared in Once Upon A Studio, as cameo characters in the short film shown alongside Wish.).

The Disney Villains and antagonists from all of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ feature films, short films and franchises produced so far also entered the live-action world from the films they appeared in before their deaths or defeats at the hands of the protagonists and heroes, and Elsa and Anna choose not to invite Prince Hans to the live-action world but with Elsa’s ice powers kept him imprisoned in the Frozen franchise as they still had a grudge against him for his actions in the first Frozen movie including his attempts to kill both of them so he could become new king of Ardenelle, its unknown if the other Disney protagonists and heroes when reuniting with their villain and antagonist archenemies despite being versions pulled from their films before their deaths or defeats (Callback to Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Lizard and Electro from Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)) also still had grudges against them for their villainious actions and torture of innocent people and for trying to kill them and for killing their family members and friends (Before some of them were resurrected while the others won’t).
I’m crying, literally. I’m in love with animation, and to see a studio that has literally inspired me to decide this path of my life, _regurgitate_ this masterpiece is just incredible!
I just watched it, and it was absolutely amazing. The ways they blended the hand-drawn and CG animation together with the live action backgrounds looked unbelievable, particularly in that one super long uncut shot. Then there's the fact they brought back pretty much all the voice actors for each of the characters even if it was just like one line each. Not to mention the archive audio for Genie, Peter Pan, Jiminy Cricket, etc. And and they brought back retired animators to draw their characters personally for the first time in years. That moment where Mickey says thank you to the picture of Walt. Which I just got to say was one of the best ways to have integrated him. It would have been so easy to just have Mickey walk past a screen playing an old recording of him or use some other kind of freaky deepfake stuff to have him there in a physical sense, but that would've felt really forced. And then the end with everyone holding hands and singing When You Wish Upon A Star. All so so good. Happy 100th Anniversary, Disney.
As a kid who grew up in a Disney household, this brings a nostalgic tear to my eye. I'm a huge fan of traditional hand-drawn cartoons and this is just gold!
Over 500 characters from the studios history with so many deep cuts is so fascinating to me. Reading up on the production document as well shows how much those working on this short loved every second. October 15th can’t come soon enough! Looking forward to seeing more Oswald (he’s actually briefly seen behind Mickey in the last shot in his white shorts).
My husband and I are 62 avid Disney fans since our first WDW visit in 89 and as kids watching Walt’s wonderful world of Disney but this short Mickey looking at Walt’s picture had us sobbing in tears. We go back to Disneyland in 3 weeks and I’ll cry looking up at Walt’s apartment and giving thanks
As a die-hard Disney fan, I’m very excited to see this short! It will be just like my biggest childhood since Fantasia 2000 as my very first Disney film I saw in theaters! Disney will always be a special place in my heart and life.
Damn you remind of someone I don’t know if it’s from a comedy genre or a HORROR! movie but back to the main issue you should know as a Disney fan that after 💯 years by midnight their about to lose their rights to the Micky character, can’t imagine what the public domain will do with that character after what they did to whinni the poo, ah yes now I remember that fugly walrus or something from that finding nemo2 movie I think
What Disney deserves to be; not all the pressure to deliver for fans of Marvel, Star Wars and The Simpsons; not to cash in on live-action boots, but in pure respect for what its original driving forces desired to achieve, and the excellent characters and set-pieces that make up the heart of the Disney catalogue. The cream of the crop that delighted me on VHS as a child, and could still do today if prompted. Whether Disney will try to put all its money into making the right decisions for itself going forward is still an ongoing concern, but this shows it hasn't forgotten its roots. Regards from the UK, Samuel Farris.
Seeing Bambi, flower, and thumper jump out of their paintings feels like a dream come true as well as seeing bolt, mittens, and rhino being represented 2 of my top 5 favorite Disney movies already shown for this short film
This short is truly the greatest tribute, crossover, and a love letter to Disney's legacy, and easily the BEST thing that Disney has done currently. I really did not expect to see some characters from an underrated movie that I love would also be feature in this short (Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, Chicken Little, Emperor's New Groove, The Rescuers duology, Oliver and Company, Robin Hood, Pete's Dragon, etc.) while interacting with characters from their well-known movies such as Show White, Encanto, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Lion King, Zootopia, Princess and the Frog, Beauty and the Beast, Lilo and Stitch, Fantasia, etc. They really give it ALL here.. Also, seeing Mickey paid respect to Walt and hearing these characters sing "When You Wish Upon A Star" made me tear up. Here's to 100th year anniversary to WDAS, and the creativity/magic they've made throughout my childhood. Such a good, heartfelt nostalgic ride happened within 7-12 minutes, and it made me realize on how much I really miss House of Mouse, which was one of the shows that I grew up watching & enjoyed. ❤
In case you missed it, The song that plays while Mickey is looking at Walt's portrait, is "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins. Feed the Birds was Walt's favorite song. He would have the writers (Richard M. Sherman / Robert B. Sherman) come in on afternoons to play the song for him while he just stared out the window with tears in his eyes. They played it during his funeral and a bird came down to fly over the piano
One hundred years have passed since the founding of the largest and most important animation studio in the world. One hundred years have witnessed the greatness of this franchise. Although it is not the first studio of this type, it has achieved what no one else has achieved in this field... Walt Disney placed himself on the throne of the world of imagination and proved that nothing is impossible. Whatever you are and whatever your circumstances are, as long as luck is with you, the impossible cannot prevent you from achieving your dream
Both show up. They pretty much bring in everyone that Walt Disney Animation Studios has ever done, even obscure characters like John Henry, Lambert the Sheepish Lion and the Small One
I hope this is start of Disney going back to it’s roots which is animation and fairy tales! I really if this successful then they do a feature length film because 10min is not long enough to see 543 Disney characters
I just saw it and it brings tears to my eyes, Walt, wherever you are, I just want to thank you for these 100 years of magic, you were You are and will be part of my life, with much love and respect from Mexico, may Walt Disney live forever in our hearts
How are there no comments?? This is the first Disney movie I’ve been excited for in so many years! Update; people keep saying ‘it’s a short film, not a movie’ lmaooo. I think of short films as movies, just short ones. Thanks for looking out for me though y’all.
Literally cried when I watched the short film. My childhood and my comfort even during my adulthood. Disney will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you, Disney ❤
I’ve finally watched it seconds earlier on Disney+, and I have no words to describe it other than… this is the best Disney Animated Short i have ever seen. 😀🏆 this short has every movie ever Disney Animation Studios made! I mean, wow! Treasure Planet is in this short too?! Mentioning Treasure Planet & other animated films targeted to a male audience is absolutely even more pleasant to see. 👌🏻
I’m so happy to see Maggie, Ms. Calloway and Grace from Home on the Range being in this project. I generally thought they would forget about them since it was a forgettable film for most people, but one of my favorites. But this just warmed my heart ❤
It wasn't FORGETTABLE to everybody in the world, but that doesn't mean nobody cares or loves those main characters like I do. They deserve to join the others and I'm proud of them for doing that
Oh man, the first Disney movie featuring 2D animation in 12 years! I can't wait! I wish they'd at least make some 2D movies on the side, since there is surely demand for it, but I guess this will have to do for now.
This was the best movie/short I had ever seen this year. It truly felt like a tribute of all the stuff they’ve made, and not “look at all the stuff we own”
Just found out by midnight their about to lose their to the Micky character I think it must be a tribute to that after 💯 years damn can’t imagine what the public domain will do with that character and trust me after what they did to whine the poo it’s not good!
I’m so happy to seeing all the characters in here! I wish now recent Disney movies could be as magical and memorial like the old ones since Snow White and the 7 dwarves. I hope the upcoming movie “Wish” won’t let my expectations down because finally after so long we have a straight up villain. But this, this crossover is amazing! I haven’t seen a cool crossover since House Of Mouse on Disney Channel, because there were characters from movies of Snow White & The 7 Dwarves to Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I wish Disney could make a reboot or a remake of House Of Mouse so we could see recent characters like Judy, Nick, Rapunzel, Flynn, Baymax, Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Moana, etc. I wouldn’t mind watching it now that I’m no longer a child. 🥰 I can’t wait to watch this upcoming short! My childhood is complete now 🥰
One thing I know for sure is that the Disney studio will be crying like a Fountain because their about to lose their rights to the Micky character by midnight after just after 💯 years I’m starting to think it’s a tribute to that or else they would’ve made a movie instead
You sure everyone is in there?? I don’t think they have everyone. There are lots of other characters you probably haven’t heard of. Like the Horned King and Creeper from the Black Cauldron for example.
The fact that ive been watching disney since i was so young. Disney hasnt done always great things - cancelling shows, / movies but i still grew up with their movies and i even remember when encanto came out in november 2021, everyone was obsessed, i watched it 14 times 😭 happy 100 disney, though in late.
What’s the feeling I’m having? Or a sense of wonder? Excitement, pure joy? Things I haven’t felt about a Disney project in literally years? This is really happening yahoo!❤🎉😂😁
When I saw the short on Disney+, I named every character (Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, etc.), including the ones from Disney's underrated gems and failures, throughout its entirety, though I don't know the names of some of them. I even saw the part where Mickey looks at Walt's portrait, meaning that he idolized him. And at the end of the short, the part where everyone came together singing "When You Wish Upon a Star" captivated my heart. Even Asha from the upcoming _Wish_ also joined in, which fuels up my excitement for the said movie! It feels like _House of Mouse_ all over again. Here's to another century of magic! Happy 100th, Disney!
Tomorrow is my mama's birthday, she introduced me to Disney and with this being her 2nd Birthday in heaven I kinda feel like this is her way of continuing our tradition of a disney movie or short on each of our birthdays.
I hope to see Sisu in this, I love that fluff noodle and her family. though I only expect to see her, Raya and maybe Namari, but her silblings, Pengu, Pranee, Amba and Jagan really are beautiful and deserved more screen time and some speaking lines
I've seen a screenshot (I don't know how people got it, but it looks pretty damn official) of Raya and Namaari sitting on TukTuk together, with Sisu, Boun, the Ongis, Tong, and Noi all around TukTuk. Don't know if Benja, Virana, or the other dragons were also in there somewhere, but we'll see!
Thank you guys for the movie!!!!!! I almost cry watching this 😭😭😭 This is like going back to the time when I really wanted to be like Elsa, Anna, Mirabel and other Disney princesses. I really appreciate this, especially when I found out that one of the costume designers for Anna from Frozen and Asha from Wish comes from Indonesia, my country. makes me even more confident that my childhood dream of becoming a famous actress and singer and being one of the inspirations for Disney will come true. Thank you once again for this short film, I'm touched by one thing you might have forgotten, you didn't include the Disney Junior and Disney Channel characters, they also mean a lot in my life 😆😆🥳🥳🥳

Ursula: Can I take your voice? Aunt Sarah: No! Ursula: Can I have your voice too, tiger? Tigger: Absolutely not, Ursula! Ursula: Can I put your voice in my necklace like I did to a mermaid named Ariel, ape man? Tarzan: The answer is NO! Ursula: WHY I CAN'T HAVE ANYBODY'S VOICES TO PUT IN MY NECKLACE? Hercules: Because stealing voices from other people is a very bad thing to do, Ursula now stop asking people for their voices to put in your necklace. Ariel: I agree what Hercules said, Ursula! Grabbing voices from other people including mine is not a good thing to do. Now get lost and leave anyone's voices alone! This goes for you, Hades!
I mostly watched this to see bolt again, and found it totally awesome that mark walton reprised his role as rhino for 1 speaking line. I’m also glad Disney didn’t forget about him and I hope Disney makes a spinoff or some sort of sequel. I bet mark Walton would be thrilled to fully reprise his role as rhino.

Reading up on the production document as well shows how much those working on this short loved every second. October 15th can’t come soon enough! Looking forward to seeing more Oswald (he’s actually briefly seen behind Mickey in the last shot in his white shorts).
Where is Oswald?
Holy shit, that's a hell of a catch!
@@fishbo001Behind Mickey
Why won't Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear and Brer Fox be present in that short?

My husband and I are 62 avid Disney fans since our first WDW visit in 89 and as kids watching Walt’s wonderful world of Disney but this short Mickey looking at Walt’s picture had us sobbing in tears. We go back to Disneyland in 3 weeks and I’ll cry looking up at Walt’s apartment and giving thanks
Good old memories since 1923 to 2023. Happy 100, Disney!
I just saw it 11 Minutes ago on ABC. It was Wonderful to see all the Characters. HAPPY 100 YEARS DISNEY!
You might see it again in theaters with Wish
I agree wholeheartedly. I only watched it to see bolt again because that movie was my childhood.
Feels like the House of Mouse cartoon all over again with these characters in one place.

Let’s hope this is the start of something new! Disney needs this to turn itself around and if this helps so be it!
In case you missed it,
The song that plays while Mickey is looking at Walt's portrait, is "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins.
Feed the Birds was Walt's favorite song. He would have the writers (Richard M. Sherman / Robert B. Sherman) come in on afternoons to play the song for him while he just stared out the window with tears in his eyes.
They played it during his funeral and a bird came down to fly over the piano
Disney endgame.
Disney, Assemble!
But better😊
One hundred years have passed since the founding of the largest and most important animation studio in the world. One hundred years have witnessed the greatness of this franchise. Although it is not the first studio of this type, it has achieved what no one else has achieved in this field... Walt Disney placed himself on the throne of the world of imagination and proved that nothing is impossible. Whatever you are and whatever your circumstances are, as long as luck is with you, the impossible cannot prevent you from achieving your dream
Holy crap, please, I’d love to see Brother Bear, Lilo & Stitch, and so many more characters again 😭
And Woody, and Pixar characters
@@salvadorquino292 and Star War characters too
And Casey Jones and his engine if they appear
It’s only characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Both show up. They pretty much bring in everyone that Walt Disney Animation Studios has ever done, even obscure characters like John Henry, Lambert the Sheepish Lion and the Small One
There is nothing better than an entire 100 years of characters, good and evil, all gathering for a portrait of the century.
I think this new short will be my antidote to help me understand that the animation classics will never be replaced by Live Action Remakes.
The issue is not from outside, but inside the studio.
I hope this is start of Disney going back to it’s roots which is animation and fairy tales! I really if this successful then they do a feature length film because 10min is not long enough to see 543 Disney characters

@astronautahora is saying is look behind Mickey and below Kuzco!
I'm so excited to meet almost every Disney character. This will be the crossover film we can see.
