To generate a Product kay, only Microsoft is allowed to generate Product Keys and no one else. and the one that is in the sleeve of the box that an Microsoft Windows OS comes in is the ultimate product key

I was uninstall my windows and there is "change product key" on my screen then I tried to find the original product key and I've found it by watching this video, and I made it, thank you so much.
Legend worked like a charm I tried the first option many times to no avail but that little script of yours popped my key straight up saved it then transferred it to a usb storage device incase of system failure in the future

Worked in Oct 2021 Great video, using the copy and pasted text method worked to display a product key in windows 8.1, however... Trying this on a fresh install of win 10 to upgrade from windows 8.1 didn't work using the same product key. I tried this on an all in one dell originally running windows 8.1, I attained the product key using method one in this video. Then trying a full fresh installation of windows 10, however it failed when entering the product key. Why? Update! From several hrs of research, I found that my Product Key is a Windows 8.1 Product Key and will not work from a fresh USB boot install of 10 unless you upgrade while running windows 8.1. You first have to do the "upgrade this PC now" option from the Windows Media Creation download Tool. Then once you update the OS to 10 you can then do a fresh boot install of Windows 10. It worked for me! :)

I personally like the aesthetic of Windows 11, but I do not like the restrictions on taskbar placement, no classic icons with text on the taskbar, the notification/tile thing is stupid and pointless, requiring Microsoft accounts to log in is also stupid, and there is quite a lot more. Hopefully though, they will iron out the issues and listen to the consumers and prosumers for once.

Glad I could be of help! Yes Microsoft does indeed make it hard to find your activation key. Even OEMs are now storing the Key in the BIOS. This can be a good thing but makes it hard to find. Thankfully programs like ProduKey exist.

Was the key originally pulled from windows 7 and then used to upgrade to windows 10? If so you will have to refer to the original windows 7 key as it creates a one-time windows 10 key when you activate it with a windows 7 key.

Can the script be used for recovering product key from a computer which have problems booting up Windows, so that it can be re-installed with the same product key as before. If I mount that hdd on some other computer can I "force" the script somehow to search for the product key on that corrupted hard disk (not to the host machine) ?

Yes, saving a screenshot of the product key somewhere other than your computer should help you if your computer were to die.

@@DanielBrosman08211986 He is not CREATING a new key, the VBScript displays the one you already have on your licensed copy of Windows.

If you use this Product Key to install on a different computer won't Microsoft block its use?
