    One of the great aeroplanes and perhaps a little under appreciated. Great to see video of it.

      I agree it is definitely one of the finest looking biplanes ever built. I have a 40 percent scale rc model with a moki radial and it flies like a dream

      @@alanluscombe8a553 That would be brilliant with the moki. I had a 30% Jungmann. It was a bit under powered but its flying characteristics were outstanding.

    What a nice flight. Great!!! The Jungmeister is also rightly named "the stradivari of the air". There is no better sound than the original Siemens SH 14. Keep this beauty flying! One nice story of that plane: At the Cleveland Air Races in 1937, Papană and Otto Graf Hagenburg competed in an exhibition match, both in Bücker Jungmeister aircraft, Papană on YR-PAX and Hagenburg on D-EEHO. Papană made a low inverted flight in front of the grandstands, and when Hagenburg tried to copy him, his plane grazed the ground and it broke. Hagenburg himself was hardly injured. Papană then lent Hagenburg his machine so that he could finish the competition.
    Greets from the Bücker Country Germany

    The Bücker Bü 133 Jungmeister is a very able aerobatic aircraft, used for advanced aerobatic training and aerobatics in general. Used in numbers by German Luftwaffe, Swiss AF and Spanish AF, as well by private owners. Many pilots who have flown one are quite fond of the Jungmeister. Built by Bücker at Rangsdorf / Berlin, Doflug Altenrhein / Switzerland and CASA / Spain. They are very nice looking aircraft able to perform quite aesthetically aerobatics. Plus (in comparison to modern aerobatic aircraft) are the quite narrow maneuvers near to the public on airshows. BTW the engine Siemens & Halske Sh 14 was made in Spandau just next to Berlin (another well known trainer using this engine was the Focke-Wulf Fw 44 Stieglitz). Later the company changed to Brandenburger Motorenwerke (Bramo), then BMW. Post war BMW built / is building their motorcycles in the same plant.

    It's such a case of "what might have been." For those who don't know, Alex Papană committed suicide near Las Vegas, in 1946. He abandoned his car, walked into the desert, and poisoned himself. He was only 39 years old. He had been an Olympic bobsledder, a competition glider and aerobatics pilot, and had helped Northrop test the P-61 Black Widow, during WWII.

    Beautiful flying Kermit.
    Great video to watch and such a beautiful airplane.
    Loved the flying routines you did and you made it look so easy.
    You have the touch on the stick that is for sure.
    Thanks for putting the airplane thru it’s paces. Was just great.
    You take care and be safe.
    Looking forward to the next video.

    Did I miss something here? Kermit knows aviation history as good or better than just about anybody. Maybe Papana once owned this Jungmeister befor Bevo.

    • @KermitWeeks444
      @KermitWeeks444  2 роки тому +5

      Romanian pilot Alex Papana brought that Jungmeister to the United States crated in the airship Hindenburg and flew it at the 1937 Cleveland Air Races. Mike Murphy reregistered the airplane as his own and flew it to win the 1938 and '40 American Aerobatic Championships. Beverly "Bevo" Howard then bought it and won the '46 and '47 championships. Howard was killed in an accident in this airplane in 1971, but his estate restored the Jungmeister and donated it to the Smithsonian in 1973.

    That one hanging inverted, at the Smithsonian, N15696, is Bevo Howard's Jungmeister. Restored after Bevo was killed in Greenville NC.
