A rare Diana Ross with piano rehearsal from 1965 of the medley used in the Supremes live shows at the time.
She sings so beautifully. Her voice is magnificent. Bravo to Diana Ross.
She's always been my shining light! Always!
I love Mary, Flo and Diana and each of their vocal talents, but I believe Berry knew exactly what he was doing in making Diana lead singer. She, Curtis Mayfield and Smokey just have voices that grab your attention. Very distinct sounds.
Love Diana Ross' voice but that PIANO player! WOW!
I love Diana. One of the best ever.
What can be done with nothing but talent and a piano. You miss hearing Mary & Flo here, though.
I don't!
I think that was good to show the rehearsal! Being a singer myself, it can help me get my career off of the ground!
This sure was fun!
to get crazy! this is only two people pianist and and a singer and ONE microphone - can you believe it? What a power what a personality
you can even take that piano away - she would go on, as powerful! absolutely fabulous!
don't take it down
oh great. now you are going for mr. perfect ! go there ! be listening for your next ! much respect !
You obviously aren't a Supremes fan who appreciated the talents of three ladies from Detroit. And, it wasn't Diana that sold the Supremes. It was HDH!!!!! If it was Diana and her voice, the pre-HDH releases should have sold! But, they didn't!
HDH did not sing one song, they just wrote them.
What is the title of the second song?
_Baby Love_ (1964).
Must be very young to not know that LOL.
@@ChristopherR96
I mean the song between Where Did Our Love Go and Baby Love. She also sang this at The Copa.
@@iluvrachellef I mean the song between Where Did Our Love Go and Baby Love. She also sings this at The Copa.
@@quentin6572 I don’t think that’s an actual song. That’s just Diana improvising and then segwaying into _Baby Love._
They were in the smaller room down the hall with roaches in it :) LOL!
Diana Ross is the best ever! This is truly a rare treat! Thank you!
I love Diana too but in my opinion Johnny Cash is the best.
Well, I am an OLD person! And, I grew up with the Supremes....and, I can tell you that the world first fell in love with three ladies from Detroit...not one. And, us OLD Supremes fans witnessed the Supremes and it wasn't all about Diana Ross! And, I can't expect you to understand how it was for us OLD folks who came to love Diane Ross, Mary Wilson, and Florence Ballard, and how our hearts broke when Flo was gone, and then Diane!
Say it again, say it again!
It was always about Diana for me. A fan since 1963!
I can't ever stop loving you Diana, from Osmund!
I wish I knew who was playing the piano? Could it be Lamont himself???
Diana Ross-always in tune and never off key.
Watch any UA-cam video of her and you'll agree.
The back vocals were on point as well.
What do you know about music? Whitney Houston and Yolanda Adams has perfect pitch. Diana Ross does not. Nobody has the pitch and timber as Aretha Franklin.
It would've been even more interesting with Mary and Flo behind her singing their parts just hearing the three voices blending over a piano. Diana however sounds good. That Ross voice and her Supremes songs.
I just do not understand why some folks do not realize that Diana Ross is one of the greatest singers ever born. She has such a natural gift. Crystalline tone top quality with loads of personality.
No lmfaoooo. She’s good but not Beyoncé good
Beyonce, can't hold a candle to. Diana. Ross
@@sammyloffredo6414 lmfao Beyoncé can sing Diane off the face of the earth. You’re just old
Krylic. Beyonce is low class and trashy. Diana is pure class
Your a idiot.!
@@sammyloffredo6414 nah you’re just old lmao. Diana isn’t near Beyoncé at all.
She had a sweet voice.
she HAD a sweet voice 🤣 honesty i thought still today she still have a sweet voice...🤔
a true singer bar none.
Anybody that saw Diana Ross live during the height of her career in the 60s and 70s, was left mesmerized. She didn't need any tricks or props and didn't use any in those days. Her only trick was hard work and perfectionism. She was always booked at the most prestigious arenas. This nonsense that her voice was weak, and she couldn't sing, etc. are simply pure nonsense from ignorant fools.
+BroccoliBeefed 'Mesmerized' truly describes watching her and the Supremes back then!! I know, I was there...being mesmerized.
I saw her the Summer of 2017 and she is STILL a terrific show woman!
@@brandx01 Lucky you!
during her time Miss Ross voice is so tiny and less powerful some said nasal voice..but thats make her unique and the rest is history 😊
It is weak lmfao. Nobody said she couldn’t sing. Her voice is just not intimidating and weak.
She was simply meant to be the Star...Grand Diva....that She turned out to be and STILL IS TO THIS DAY as evidenced by this wonderful unabridged tape!!!!!!!!! TALENT PERSONAFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you did what she did I hope you as she would reap some benefits. It's not over yet. Diana Ross got to reap what she sowed. I like her but she was jealous of her sister Barbara. She shouldn't have wrong Flo, Mary and other good people to elevate herself. Sadly, she even mistreated her child Rhonda. Did she tell her Berry Gordy was her father when she was a little kid, NO. It was obvious she was/is his child. She cheated her child out of her rightful fatherhood. Thus, Berry Gordy did also. Years later she writes a tell all book go on Oprah Winfrey show and spill her guts. It was no surprise to me all you had to do was look at Rhonda. Berry Gordy should have acknowledge his child and treated her as he did his daughter Hazel, JermaineJackson married. Silberstien sure wasn't her father. Cora
@@corahudson8420 I agree with you.
The real story is that Diana sing this alone. They came in 1965 to Holland for the Grand Gala Du Disque. Pete Felleman the man who bring the Motown acts to The Netherlands/ Holland wants to know what they will sing at that venue..they (Berry Gordy) put this for him on a vinyl and send it that way to him. There is more recorded than on this audio!!
I guess it was a good starting point for all 3 girls, but if mary is so fabulously talented, where r her solo successes? She's had enough time to prove she's worthy of some kind of star status. And yes Ive listened & tried to see what she has to offer:hell I even bought her mary wilson album on vinyl a few yrs ago cos I thought I'd get something great,& it was a great lump of dreadful crap.Flo's album has a couple of not-so-bad tracks:the rest r not-so-good.In my eyes and ears Diana has everything!
An interesting record. Thank you! I really liked it!
Diana was a special and unique singer! She didn't have to do any vocal acrobatics, just stand flat footed and sang❤💙
Who is playing the piano ? Lamont Dozier ?
I fell in love with the Supremes as a group, not with one individual; and I think I speak for millions of their fans. For sure, Diane, her real and not diva name, produced the lead sound, but, again, it was the group that captivated us. So much of success is grounded in image - some of the best singers never make it. The Supremes delivered the image. Diane created her own image as a solo artist and won our hearts we well. Bravo to all three!!!!!
Amen to that..........except that I never cared for Diane as a solo act! The Supremes just needed the 3 voices! Diane, as a solo act, needs fire works, a choir, and all the smoke and mirrors that she can muster to pull it off! No, THE SUPREMES are still IT for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can have Diane as a solo act!
Dennis Michael,
Miss Diana Ross carried Mary and Flo. Miss Diana Ross was the star from the very beginning. She worked harder, she was more dedicated and determined to be a maga ⭐️🌟⭐️ with over 6 decades in the business, she earned her status “Diva”.
I fell in love with the supremes and the lead singer was sensational. Took them to the top 12 times. Never had another number 1 after she left.. and don't give me that 'berry didn't back them' crap. No diana... no number ones...and no stellar supremes.
You are right. I never expected that the Supremes would last forever. But, it bothers me when people come off the wall with their comments about Mary or Flo, or even Cindy. The Supremes were special (to us, anyway). And, we loved them all! We didn't even consider the individual importance of each member as we did their collective importance. And, memories are sweet.
These young people don't have the good music we had back in the day. They don't even know what good music is. What? They make these dumb rappers rich!
So, you see, it does matter to us who sings on those songs. Maybe anybody can sing the harmony vocals, but not anybody can be Mary Wilson or Florence Ballard. The Supremes were a team! And, I like team work and the results they produce. Diana would not be who she is today if it weren't for THE SUPREMES!
Karen, I agree. Had it not been for the three girls Diane would most likely still be living in the Brewster projects.
l agree with you. They were a team.
I love reading all the bitter comments on DianA videos. If you don't like her, why watch her videos. It say clearly that it's Diana and piano. Get over yourselves. 😂
Fabulous!
What are you smoking? There is only Diana Ross on this track.
Today it's being said that Flo and Mary should have had songs that they were Lead Vocalist in during the Supremes. But the voice of Diana set the bar so high, for them to have more Lead vocals - was almost impossible.
Gary Olafson Puh-lease. Diana’s voice was cute but what Flo had was a gift that was in the same category of the great Etta James. Flo was soulful. Diana was entertaining for all audiences and by all I mean mainly white, because at the time that’s who really mattered. Flo was too soulful to appeal to white audiences. They only like mockery soul at the time such as Dusty Springfield and Elvis.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👊👊👊👊👊👍👍👍👍👍🙂💯!!!!!!!!...... Exactly....
@@starrtyler4771 Someone once said, "The Bee Gees did for disco what Elvis Presley did for rhythm and blues, what Diana Ross did for soul, what Dave Brubeck did for jazz; they made it safe for white, straight, middle-class people, hauling it out of its subcultural ghetto and into the headlight glare of the
mainstream. Here was something middle America could move its uptight ass
to."
Because Diana sounded more commercial and white. They knew this and is the reason they started to cater to white audiences.
Concerning "Where Did Our Love Go?", isn't she singing it higher here than on the original studio recording?
Wish I could've heard Mary and Florence, raw, but Ross shows her singing talent.
This sounds like rehearsals from the Copacabana show. Rare !!!!
No the supremes were the supremes
+StephenTillman2 Right Stephen, all three were Supreme
Im so glad she did not do that sayen dont throw are love away in tami movie she let it play out. Those BERRY GORDY RIFFS. THIS SOUNDS LIKE REHERSAL FOR WERE ACTION IS .SAME LIGN UP.
I DO get what ur saying about the breakup of the group.I can see that when we (at ANY age) r truly in love with the magic of a group/artist,changes occur that we may not like what happens, but changes do happen & nothing is for ever. What did u expect, that even now 50 yrs later that they'd still be doing the rounds as a group?People move on and take whatever path is right for them.It happens to us all in all walks of life. It may be sad but it's a fact of life.
Sure she sounds great, the songs would never have been great with Flo or Mary singing lead; when you are screwing Berry Gordy, a married man and said you were gonna get him in an interview. in the '80's..well... WE see you Boo!
Oh puuurleease, Flo and that "other one" were just 2 more backing singers. This recording ISN'T weak & it PROVES that it was HER voice that people bought.I've seen Diana live MANY times and without any backing singers her voice is just beautiful, and she didn't NEED any backing singers OR hand-clappers. EVERY artist on the Earth uses backing singers on recordings to enhance their sound and Diana is no exception. ANYONE could back Diana (as was often the case) and the result was still the same!
.....The "other one" is Mary Wilson....You can take your head out now.....I've been to a Ross concert and can honestly say I was not impressed, it was more of a fashion show....very disappointed.
@@tonyb65 Uh huh..
You think that, because Diana sounds white. I'm glad you white folks made her a multimillionaire.😊
Beautiful! Diana Ross is unmatched!
Diana sings the way a woman is supposed to sing
@brucini33 i couldn't have said it better!
Thanks Bunches for Posting. Love the Pictures
⭐❤️⭐❤️⭐❤️
Personally, I like Mary. I like her voice. And, the fact that she is still making a living doing what she likes best, in my eyes (anyway) is success. Success isn't always measured by all the alcolades that come with it. Sometimes success is still being able to make a living doing what one like to do the most. As for Flo's album, I was disappointed, too. But, none-the-less, I appreciate it. It's still part of her legacy and we still love her!
You know Mary can't sing you just feel sorry for her,but I DON'T.
I saw Mary in concert in Torquay UK 1998. She was a complete embarrassment, her vocals were shambolic, and she was pawing all over a handsome young backing singer. Even she seemed embarrassed. Horrible.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Gotcha!!! Sorry!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Gotcha!!! Sorry!
@bosskat57 ...glad you liked it!
Does anyone seriously think that any one of these songs would have been hits with only Diana singing, and with no background vocals to shore her up? Not a chance!
Miss Ross sounds always terrific. She can do it without backing singers 😊
I like this a lot. Thanks.
Wow, she really didn't need them!
wa-wow
Trust nobody
Trust nobody
Where are the other girls?
Si ma il pianista è un cane.
Ur right, I'm NOT a Supremes fan per se. But I own probably everything they recorded that got released.I bought it for Diana's voice NOT for who backs her up! Yes, it was HDH who wrote those hits but it was the pairing with Dianas voice that was a winning combination..OH! and they DIDN'T write any of her solo hits and it's her solo material that I'm more interested in.The Supremes were way before my time. Its only old people who remember them.
mary talented? LMFAO!...I don't think so!
Well this recording just shows how much DIANA really needed their background voices to make a hit. I'm sure with any other background singers, her craft would have STILL been a success! Awesome vocals Diana..
OnlineAdministrator, Regardless of what you think about Flo and Mary, Youth is a one time thing and you will be old sooner then you think.
Mary is very talented. She has a unique voice and was always the most crisp at the choreography hater.
Without the vocal support of Flo's and Mary's harmonies, Diana sounds weak and frail. This explains why, after Ross went solo, they really beefed up the background vocals on her solo recordings and in concert. Ms. Ross has a sweet voice, despite it's weaknesses, but it is still in need of the vocal support of Mary and Flo.
Weak???? Maybe you should turn your volume up.
Actually Flo was in the bathroom washing Diana´s wig while Mary was sent to the drug store to get condoms for Berry. Those chores were very important at the time so don´t underestimate the other Supremes.
LOL
Lmmfao... You ain't right...you ain't right...lolol
@tinaine1----PRICELESS !!! yes, we get your drift---nothing like a feeling of importance, to lift one's spirits, IS there !!!!! HA !
That is funny and probably a bit true...
Lmaoo I hate you
