Nice find -- thanks for sharing this! I'm guessing this is from August 13, 1990, since Out of This World aired on Mondays on KTLA and all of the movies advertised here came out on either August 17 or 24. A few observations: -I miss the days when local commercials had a charmingly cheap look to them (prime example is the Injury Hotline spot at 12:15). Now, at least in Southern California, they generally look about as slick as national commercials. Of course this makes sense from a business and technological evolution standpoint, but there's a sad lack of magically appearing head vises and exploding stomach effects. -In the KTLA ID animation from this time (2:38), I always wondered what the CGI orb revealing the "5" logo was supposed to be. Maybe a rising sun? -4:36 was the first time I learned what a boombox was. -Jenny Lewis sighting at 23:26! -The brief shot at 1:05:59 is WAY too disturbing for a Supercuts commercial.
My love of low budget ads and local bumpers is pretty much why I started this channel. The KTLA5 orb is awesome, and I do agree that the must be some solar symbolism there. I also think that promo fits in well with the "go go 90s" futurism aesthetic that the original Sim City or Sim City 2000 display.
The best era for commercials, thank you for uploading : ) really brought back childhood memories
There ain’t no way this is the best era, considering they started allowing lawyer commercials.
@@iscariot666Obviously that comment went straight over your head.😂
Awesome! More 80’s KTLA !!
