@@Lunnalee100 at such at an advanced age, have you considered something like minding your own business while letting people live comfortably "tacky" or otherwise? It mustve been hard projecting your insecurities onto other women.
I agree on everything except the sweater. In my opinion, a long, casual sweater just doesn’t look right with a party top or cute dress and for those of us without perfectly slim upper arms, going sleeveless is not ideal. It’s a challenge to find party clothes that aren’t short sleeved. Many times, the ones with sleeves are too matronly or aren’t a flattering cut in the rest of the body. If you have some alternative suggestions or examples of these sweaters that would be better, I’m all ears :)
I don't like the midi cut on a sleeve (reaching below the elbow but not the wrist) and cropped, like the example she shows. Unless it was the same color as the dress you were wearing for a formal occasion, I would go for a custom made dress with fitted long sleeves (which looks amazing!), giving you basically the same effect as that mini cardigan only better, because your whole arm is covered and it can look very elegant and put together. Another option is with a cropped open top with shorter but wider sleeves, in velour or a nice fabric like that, could also be a nice touch and slim the troubling upper arms. Also, you could always go for a stylish pant suit.
Just wear a normal cardigan or jacket? Uniqlo has great thin, lightweight cardigans in the summer that would work. It’s more the cropped length that’s weird.
Yeah I’m a flight attendant and it’s like second nature to wear pantyhose even when I’m not at work... mostly sheer skin tone and definitely with closed toe shoes ONLY!!
Older women with less than lovely legs really shouldn't go without hose. Definitely no hose with open toe shoes!! Nothing looks scarier that a woman over a "certain age" with bare legs that show varicose veins and other "interesting things that unfortunately appear over time. Bare legs are a trend for your young ladies with lovely gams--enjoy it!
I’m only 24 and I don’t wear tights during the warm days but as I said in winter they’re quite handy! I prefer black ones, 20 denier particularly. Plus, last winter, in France at least, black polka dot tights were quite a thing... though I don’t know if it’s still is this year^^
I so agree that after a certain age bare legs with skirts and dresses are hard to pull off. My legs are toned and shapely but I have so many little spider veins that it is really ugly. Self tanner helps but is high maintenance as you have to keep it up. Leg makeup helps but it also transfers on everything. I wouldn't wear hose with open-toed shoes but I must wear them with skirts and dresses especially in the winter. Mostly black tights but sometimes the sheer hose.
I have one black “Gucci” little purse that I got from my mum. I said how I needed something that would go with my black coat with gold details and she was so happy when she found that purse that I didn’t want to tell her that that is a rip off gucci bag and that I would never wear it. So now I wear it from time to time and when I see how happy she is, I don’t care what sign is on the bag. She is the best mum ever.
Your mama is so cute! And not gonna lie, but some fakes look better than the real thing. Even with that photo she used at 7:06, the color green on the real purse looks horrendous, while the gold details on the fake add a nice touch. Not everything from fashion house designers are masterpieces.
Till today I'm puzzled by people thinking ripped jeans do something good to the look...i can live with it if someone grungy or punk wears it cos it kind of goas with the story...but all those girls who wear super fancy clothes with ripped jeans I really don't understand XD especially when ripped on the knees, it literally does nothing for the figure and doesn't look like "dressing down" fancy pieces.. it just looks like a mistake... like you know why picasso makes faces look weird, it's his style (like grunge in clothes) but it's very obvious when someone can't draw very good and face just looks deformed-that is what ripped jeans look like to me, deformation caused by mistake 😅 if someone likes it than fine, but I would really loooove and appreciate if they could explain to me what do they think it does fir their looks 🤔
I would add crop tops for the majority of the population. A very small fraction of people can pull it off, yet that seems to be the only kind of shirts the clothing I diary has been putting out there the last couple of years.
right? sometimes they're legitimately too heavy. i can't handle the super-fast blinking some people do when their eyelashes are too heavy or not glued on properly. it's so uncomfortable when i'm trying to maintain eye contact with them.
I agree with all the things you mentioned, but I think you should have included something about impossibly long, garish fake nails. LOL. I’d love to see a video on fake vs. real items. Sounds like fun!
Very well said! I thought I was the only one thinking like this! I would add very long nails or toenails, unnatural looking hair color, like pink, blue, green... Very long obvious hair extensions. Dark pantyhoses with light shoes, tights with stilettos - tights look better with chunkier heels - stilettos with sheer hosiery. A very short skirt when you are older or heavier. Jeweled headbands. Too much zippers on clothes. I could go on and on! 😆 Love your videos! 😘🥰
Some trends in makeup can turn out to be tacky, like too much bronzer/ contour, too much self tan product... I could go on 🤔 That would be a good video
Not if you are a professional. Imagine a lawyer with giant tacky lashes and nails trying to work on a custody case? How do they even see the screen with those weighing down the lids and how do they type with claws? Lawyers charge by the hour. I would worry she is charging me $800 for a document someone else could have finished in half the time
Evolve it’s a preference. Just because it’s difficult for you , it doesn’t mean it difficult for someone else. I’ve seen women with long nails type really fast on computers and for them it’s easy because they are use to that length. Same with eyelashes. Long eyelashes and fingernails don’t effect the way you work unless it’s something you’re not use to having
Stephanie K. They look insane though. We are talking about the claws and spider lashes, not the classy enhancements. It makes me think they are mentally unstable
i don't even care if people want to look like trash with the tacky fake lashes, it's just that sometimes they're so heavy or poorly set on the lid that the person wearing them is seriously blinking _so rapidly_ that it's uncomfortable to interact with them.
I dont wear false eyelashes, because my lashes have always been long, however, if you're a night club going person i can see wearing these for that fantasy effect, but not for daily wear. I'm over 50 and there was time when a woman knew how and what kind of clothes to wear for different times of the day. Unfortunately, the lines have been blurred and this anything goes attitude to fashion has resulted in the most tacky era in fashion history.
Well the glitter thing I had a boyfriend years ago he would come over and would have glitter on him and I had no glitter. I was glad the glitter was there it told me something and he was out the door

This is my problem with the short little sweaters she says looks tacky she's not very big chested and little where is I am very big chested so even in the summer time I have to wear a bra and I have to wear something to cover that bra strap because that looks tacky so those little tiny sweaters or the best option with summer dresses it would look ridiculous to have some long sweater or jacket.in fact not just summer dresses any summer tops I'm still going to have to cover if they're strapless because I always have to wear a bra.
Those little sweaters are called bolero jackets. It’s super classic, not inspired by little girls but Spanish bullfighters. They’re known for completing an outfit without the weight and dowdiness of a full sweater or jacket. Keep wearing them. I love Shea’s videos, but I think thigh high stilettos look tacky and I’ve seen her wear them. To each their own.
I wore bolero jackets for a long time and now I don't like them on myself anymore... I just stopped caring about visible bra straps. If you have a pretty bra it can actually look really good and compliment a top, though it is hard to find pretty, affordable bras... I am a 75 E or 34D and i have managed, however i do realize that others have a harder time than me... still... unless it is for a special occasion I'd say "whoever wants to look at your boobs has to look at the bra straps as well..." we can't live without them, so why hide that.
I was hoping someone would say this. I'm a hourglass figure. If I wear a regular sweater it hits at my hips my widest part and totally hides my waist. So I'm just a hip and boobs square. Cropped sweaters allow for a waist.
@@brittanysmith1327 honestly I think someone of those little sweaters with the fitted dresses look very classy. Especially if you have an hourglass figure.
I wear tights every time I wear skirts or dresses unless it's the middle of summer because I'm always super cold! However, that is why I never wear open toed shoes
Totally agree with you on overdoing the eyelashes, I love to see the eyelashes that are moderately done, I hate glitters unless I am doing a school project with my 5year old.thanks for your input.
this girl who goes to my school where ridiculous eyelashes every single day. They are the worst I’ve ever seen. you can’t even see her eyelids because they are so thick and long..they are almost 3 inches long and solid thick🤯
Dear Shea, so brave for addressing some highly controversial looks, like the platform heels or the bum shorts, you sure got guts girl 😉 'Looking forward to your "real vs fake designer bag" video , have a Great week-end !
I actually like the tiny sweaters/shrugs. They might be out of style but they're really practical e.g. when going sleeveless wouldn't be appropriate or when you want an extra layer that isn't too warm.
@@mishasunne9512 Exactly. Think of all the 90's stuff that's back in right now, scrunchies, belly bags and mom jeans? No one fashionable would've been caught dead wearing those things until somebody in the fashion industry decided they were "in" again and everybody just went along with it. Everything in fashion comes back at some point.
I agree also it depends how the little sweater is made of ,if the fabric is lace can be very elegant it can be mature depending on the cut too. here in Argentina we call it "torerita"
Of course, but if you want to be in a certain position in life you have to not look crazy. Some women over-load enhancements - fake hair, nails, lashes, tan, lips, boobs, butt. Then they weR giant heels and carry giant purses. At some point they look like cartoons
@@sonja3555 they're talking about jobs. In a lot of job positions, employees are supposed to look a certain way, for example crazy long exaggerated eyelashes are not seen as professional. But outside of jobs sure do what you want, be happy.
@@KaMafo28 I don't think that "position in life" literally translates to jobs, but more to how wealthy you are and your career. Which I completely disagree on. There are a lot if successful jobs that don't require you to look "normal", and not even every 9 to 5 job needs you to dress and look formally. I'm not saying that some jobs don't want that but this person is belittling that specific style and calling it cartoony which to me translates to "they look like clowns". I'm a goth so I definitely don't dress like that, but those are things that obnoxious normal people like to say to me too. You don't have to be boring to fit in and be beautiful ^^
I love Shea's ability to do a video like this without coming across as superior. She provides her opinion in a non-threatening way. Something some who have commented here could learn from. Soooo many judgey people!
You'll have to pry my platform heels away from me. 😂 I'm short and I wear all of mine with wide leg dress pants because it's cheaper to buy tall shoes than to hem every pair of pants I buy and the added height makes for a longer, leaner silhouette. Would love to see more of these videos. Entertaining.
Beware. I had the same problem (I'm 5-foot, exactly). But, at age 54, years of those heels have deformed my feet and I can't wear anything but flats or sneakers now without extreme pain. I still look at beautiful heels and cry because I can't have them.
Sounds terrible :( . I think we shouldn't wear them all the time. I work from home a lot and only wear those shoes outside, a couple hours a week in total. But I think a problem like yours is because of the height of the heel not because of the platform.
@@desiree2086 It was, and they was required as part of my work attire at the time. I work at home now, so I can atay in a bathrobe and slippers all day it I want. :) But, I still have a weakness for killer heels.
I can never bring myself to wear tights with dress clothes, but sheer nylons are a necessity for my splotchy, swelling legs when I'm dressing up. Nylons used to be equated with classiness, but the open-toe shoe thing is always true. Videos like this are helpful, but sometimes things are more for function than fashion, I guess. Keep it comin', Shea! :)
Heather Gilreath yes in the winter my legs look really bad. I need a tan or a fake tan. I have resigned myself to boots with dresses or skirts. I will do tights. I worked in a financial sector conservative business dress mandated hose, and open toe shoes were frowned on. Sling blacks you could get away with.

When I was a kid, I wanted to wear pantyhose. My mom said they were too adult for me. I finally got old enough to wear them. I instantly hated them. Love that you mentioned them!❤️
I personally love platform heels especially because I’m short, they’re a great way to enhance my height and make me feel more confident. In no way do they look tacky. It’s not about the platform heels themselves, It’s always about the design. Badly designed heels will look tacky while good quality and nicely designed heels will look fantastic. So don’t let this video discourage you to wear platforms.

Same goes about overdone eyebrows and super long nails. I do like that natural eyebrows are in, that’s how it should be with most things anyway, but overly drawn, thick, obvious looking eyebrows are just, well... tacky.
Lucine Khachatrian UA-cam makeup trends nowadays are all tacky to me, but especially those super bold, dark, thick brows. Thick brows only look good when they are natural in my opinion. When they are drawn on, it looks too fake and commanding.

carmen lugo I agree. IMO the only place for bum shorts is at the beach, on a boat, etc. Basically as a swimsuit cover up. Glitter makes me itch. Also, those HUGE fake eyelashes need to stop. You look like you have a tarantula on your eye.
Reminds me of a classic nz ad. I think it was like an ice cream ad, it has a guy wearing speedos and when he’s on the beach, the narrator states that they are “togs” (swimsuit) but as soon as he is off the beach, narrator switches to undies :p same with these shorts. Not full clothing.
I’m 4’10, so platform shoes are usually something I go for, HOWEVER, if the platform is more than an inch or two, we’re headed into exotic dancer status. so I think with platforms, you have to think tastefully.
I am guilty of the short sweaters. I don’t like my arms because I have KP. What do you suggest I use instead during the summer to cover my arms when cute tops have no sleeves?
Laura McCollum, short sweaters (also known as shrugs or boleros) aren’t tacky. They are timeless and have been around for decades for a reason. @@gladlockall just women want to get a man very desperatelly?
I have one black “Gucci” little purse that I got from my mum. I said how I needed something that would go with my black coat with gold details and she was so happy when she found that purse that I didn’t want to tell her that that is a rip off gucci bag and that I would never wear it.
So now I wear it from time to time and when I see how happy she is, I don’t care what sign is on the bag. She is the best mum ever.
That’s amazing and wholesome and bless you both tbh
Who cares what people say, when you've got the best mum!!😁
Your mama is so cute! And not gonna lie, but some fakes look better than the real thing. Even with that photo she used at 7:06, the color green on the real purse looks horrendous, while the gold details on the fake add a nice touch. Not everything from fashion house designers are masterpieces.
You missed: women who wear camisole tops with visible dingy worn-out bra straps.
Maria Miranda or “clear” bra straps!
Omg this is a good one
🤣🤣🤣
Yesssss
Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All very good points! Other things that make you look tacky: super long nails, crazy long hair extensions and extremely ripped jeans
The ripped jeans-ugh. Tryin' way too hard.
when I was a kid ripped jeans meant you were poor. I will never wear or let my children wear ripped jeans!
Any nail or hair that's visibly fake.
I would add crop tops for the majority of the population. A very small fraction of people can pull it off, yet that seems to be the only kind of shirts the clothing I diary has been putting out there the last couple of years.
On some chicks the big crazy lashes actually make them look lazy eyed I don’t get why anyone would like that lol
1Bucsbabe yes!!! I have seen that so much. I was like ohh poor thing somethings wrong with her. Oh waitmy bad?!?
Darby Stegen 🤣 me too!
right? sometimes they're legitimately too heavy. i can't handle the super-fast blinking some people do when their eyelashes are too heavy or not glued on properly. it's so uncomfortable when i'm trying to maintain eye contact with them.
The whole first decade of 2000s was full of awful tacky trends. Think of the extreme low cut jeans that show off the butt crack...
Absolutely! Juicy Couture was extremely tacky and raunchy, it wasn't couture at all!
Hideous
To summarize how not to look tacky: Do not look like a Kardashian 😉
Beatrice Gonez exactly 🤣

I agree with all the things you mentioned, but I think you should have included something about impossibly long, garish fake nails. LOL. I’d love to see a video on fake vs. real items. Sounds like fun!
Hahaha I probably should have included that!!! Especially since people can’t stand my nails🤣🤣🤣
MsOrchidBouquet yess
Totally agree!
Oh yes! It’s not only tacky but can’t be sanitary
Girl...don’t get me started. This video is perfection ♥️
Oh my gosh hahaha!! I’m so glad you enjoyed this!!❤️
Oh my goodness! She's totally got me started.
I know! This is one of my favs! Great job 👍👍
Some trends in makeup can turn out to be tacky, like too much bronzer/ contour, too much self tan product... I could go on 🤔 That would be a good video
I agree with you, and too much highlighter! Why are they putting on the tip of their noses now too?
I think contour on the face has gone out of trend and not many people do it anymore
Do what you like and wear what you want regardless of how tacky is looks to someone else. Your opinion is the only one that matters!
Stephanie K. Thank you! Everyone else is like “yeah that shit is soooo tacky” and stuff but like, why would anyone care?
Jesse Claessen right! People are gonna look and have something to say (negative and positive) anyway so you should do what feels best for you
Stephanie K. They look insane though. We are talking about the claws and spider lashes, not the classy enhancements. It makes me think they are mentally unstable
I personally don't like thick or too long fake eyelashes.
a9ln me either🙁
i don't even care if people want to look like trash with the tacky fake lashes, it's just that sometimes they're so heavy or poorly set on the lid that the person wearing them is seriously blinking _so rapidly_ that it's uncomfortable to interact with them.
Love the shoes, not tacky to me. Love that we’re all different
Period, the higher the better for me😂
Yep, I usually agree with her, but I do really like the look of platform heels (and platform wedges 😬).
I love shoes with platforms because they are more confortable, more padding for the pads/balls of my feet.
Agree that.I like the shoes but they will not very high platforms and below 2Cm should be better.
Kat Wolf of course, because they were made for exotic dancers
We call the overdone eyelashes "caterpillar eyes." No one should do this ever!
word....when you can't even see their eyes due to the lashes....it DOES NOT enhance the eyes....Periodt

Yes! Why are those terrible lashes still everywhere?
I LIVE for my long fake lashes! I have the extensions on now, not in my profile pic though.

Pantyhose aren't tacky, they're classy, and way better than leggings :/
Karma CCC, She didn’t mean pantyhose in general; she meant wearing pantyhose with open-toed shoes.
You weren't listening
It’s a style, and it’s popular in Japan and Argentina 🇦🇷 if it ain’t for you just done wear it personally it looks great just like socks with heels
Leggings is more practical tho for everyday use
Ariana Marin PREACH! like why do you want your toes to look like pilsbury biscuit in your shoes
AMEN.

I actually like the tiny sweaters/shrugs. They might be out of style but they're really practical e.g. when going sleeveless wouldn't be appropriate or when you want an extra layer that isn't too warm.
There are more stylish ways to cover up. Don't do that because it ages you immediately as it's very outdated.
I like them too!
@@mishasunne9512 Exactly. Think of all the 90's stuff that's back in right now, scrunchies, belly bags and mom jeans? No one fashionable would've been caught dead wearing those things until somebody in the fashion industry decided they were "in" again and everybody just went along with it. Everything in fashion comes back at some point.
saammmy7, they are a classic TIMELESS wardrobe staple. They never go out of style. Worn right to fit your body, you look like a fashionista.
The little sweaters were handy to bring along when going to air conditioned restaurants in summer. Shawls just don’t do it.

@@gladlock okay so? If they're happy with that and feel comfortable who are you to judge?
I personally love them!
A. Beaverhausen I do wear platforms or wedges because stilettos kill my feet in one hour. Plus they give you hammer toes. Ouchy :(...
Heather Gilreath yes in the winter my legs look really bad. I need a tan or a fake tan. I have resigned myself to boots with dresses or skirts. I will do tights. She is right on with her video. I don't care about others, but I personally do not want diaper pants on me !!! Long pants dragging and mopping the floor look, well, tacky to me. Love your videos, Shea.

World's tackiest things: hair roots showing, chipped nail polish. By the way, the "fake" purse looks better than the "real" one here.
Nails.. chip..? It’s natural. Obviously the best thing is to take it all off when that happens, but God forbid you wait a day or 2 as you’re busy.. or you’re hoping the chips aren’t *that* noticeable, but they are. But it can be a fine line between one tiny unnoticeable chip, then a few, then more big ones.
