i don't even care if people want to look like trash with the tacky fake lashes, it's just that sometimes they're so heavy or poorly set on the lid that the person wearing them is seriously blinking _so rapidly_ that it's uncomfortable to interact with them.
I dont wear false eyelashes, because my lashes have always been long, however, if you're a night club going person i can see wearing these for that fantasy effect, but not for daily wear. I'm over 50 and there was time when a woman knew how and what kind of clothes to wear for different times of the day. Unfortunately, the lines have been blurred and this anything goes attitude to fashion has resulted in the most tacky era in fashion history.
Of course, but if you want to be in a certain position in life you have to not look crazy. Some women over-load enhancements - fake hair, nails, lashes, tan, lips, boobs, butt. Then they weR giant heels and carry giant purses. At some point they look like cartoons
@@sonja3555 they're talking about jobs. In a lot of job positions, employees are supposed to look a certain way, for example crazy long exaggerated eyelashes are not seen as professional. But outside of jobs sure do what you want, be happy.
@@KaMafo28 I don't think that "position in life" literally translates to jobs, but more to how wealthy you are and your career. Which I completely disagree on. There are a lot if successful jobs that don't require you to look "normal", and not even every 9 to 5 job needs you to dress and look formally. I'm not saying that some jobs don't want that but this person is belittling that specific style and calling it cartoony which to me translates to "they look like clowns". I'm a goth so I definitely don't dress like that, but those are things that obnoxious normal people like to say to me too. You don't have to be boring to fit in and be beautiful ^^
You'll have to pry my platform heels away from me. 😂 I'm short and I wear all of mine with wide leg dress pants because it's cheaper to buy tall shoes than to hem every pair of pants I buy and the added height makes for a longer, leaner silhouette. Would love to see more of these videos. Entertaining.
Beware. I had the same problem (I'm 5-foot, exactly). But, at age 54, years of those heels have deformed my feet and I can't wear anything but flats or sneakers now without extreme pain. I still look at beautiful heels and cry because I can't have them.
Sounds terrible :( . I think we shouldn't wear them all the time. I work from home a lot and only wear those shoes outside, a couple hours a week in total. But I think a problem like yours is because of the height of the heel not because of the platform.
@@desiree2086 It was, and they was required as part of my work attire at the time. I work at home now, so I can atay in a bathrobe and slippers all day it I want. :) But, I still have a weakness for killer heels.
This is my problem with the short little sweaters she says looks tacky she's not very big chested and little where is I am very big chested so even in the summer time I have to wear a bra and I have to wear something to cover that bra strap because that looks tacky so those little tiny sweaters or the best option with summer dresses it would look ridiculous to have some long sweater or jacket.in fact not just summer dresses any summer tops I'm still going to have to cover if they're strapless because I always have to wear a bra.
Those little sweaters are called bolero jackets. It’s super classic, not inspired by little girls but Spanish bullfighters. They’re known for completing an outfit without the weight and dowdiness of a full sweater or jacket. Keep wearing them. I love Shea’s videos, but I think thigh high stilettos look tacky and I’ve seen her wear them. To each their own.
I wore bolero jackets for a long time and now I don't like them on myself anymore... I just stopped caring about visible bra straps. If you have a pretty bra it can actually look really good and compliment a top, though it is hard to find pretty, affordable bras... I am a 75 E or 34D and i have managed, however i do realize that others have a harder time than me... still... unless it is for a special occasion I'd say "whoever wants to look at your boobs has to look at the bra straps as well..." we can't live without them, so why hide that.
I was hoping someone would say this. I'm a hourglass figure. If I wear a regular sweater it hits at my hips my widest part and totally hides my waist. So I'm just a hip and boobs square. Cropped sweaters allow for a waist.
@@brittanysmith1327 honestly I think someone of those little sweaters with the fitted dresses look very classy. Especially if you have an hourglass figure.
Dear Shea, so brave for addressing some highly controversial looks, like the platform heels or the bum shorts, you sure got guts girl 😉 'Looking forward to your "real vs fake designer bag" video , have a Great week-end !
I can never bring myself to wear tights with dress clothes, but sheer nylons are a necessity for my splotchy, swelling legs when I'm dressing up. Nylons used to be equated with classiness, but the open-toe shoe thing is always true. Videos like this are helpful, but sometimes things are more for function than fashion, I guess. Keep it comin', Shea! :)
Heather Gilreath yes in the winter my legs look really bad. I need a tan or a fake tan. I have resigned myself to boots with dresses or skirts. I will do tights. I worked in a financial sector conservative business dress mandated hose, and open toe shoes were frowned on. Sling blacks you could get away with.
She is right on with her video. I don't care about others, but I personally do not want diaper pants on me !!! Long pants dragging and mopping the floor look, well, tacky to me. Love your videos, Shea.
I personally love platform heels especially because I’m short, they’re a great way to enhance my height and make me feel more confident. In no way do they look tacky. It’s not about the platform heels themselves, It’s always about the design. Badly designed heels will look tacky while good quality and nicely designed heels will look fantastic. So don’t let this video discourage you to wear platforms.
I love Shea's ability to do a video like this without coming across as superior. She provides her opinion in a non-threatening way. Something some who have commented here could learn from. Soooo many judgey people!
Same goes about overdone eyebrows and super long nails. I do like that natural eyebrows are in, that’s how it should be with most things anyway, but overly drawn, thick, obvious looking eyebrows are just, well... tacky.
Lucine Khachatrian UA-cam makeup trends nowadays are all tacky to me, but especially those super bold, dark, thick brows. Thick brows only look good when they are natural in my opinion. When they are drawn on, it looks too fake and commanding.

When I was a kid, I wanted to wear pantyhose. My mom said they were too adult for me. I finally got old enough to wear them. I instantly hated them. Love that you mentioned them!❤️
carmen lugo I agree. IMO the only place for bum shorts is at the beach, on a boat, etc. Basically as a swimsuit cover up. Glitter makes me itch. Also, those HUGE fake eyelashes need to stop. You look like you have a tarantula on your eye.
Reminds me of a classic nz ad. I think it was like an ice cream ad, it has a guy wearing speedos and when he’s on the beach, the narrator states that they are “togs” (swimsuit) but as soon as he is off the beach, narrator switches to undies :p same with these shorts. Not full clothing.

wondernessful - no it doesn’t. Those are the most uncomfortable shoes probably ever designed in the history of shoes. I promise you look funny while walking around on those.
Florecita for me and many others it does. We all have different opinions and experiences. And in my opinion , women look funny walking in any high heel especially when worn for hours. It just is what it is. Anyway, have a good one!
I mean.. a girl could wear/do all of these things and not look tacky. Like for instance long bedazzled acrylics can actually look really graceful, it just depends on each person. This doesn’t apply to everyone lol
When I was a teen in the Sixties we thought panty hose were WOW! It meant you didn't have to wear a garter belt or girdle with your mini skirt. Then, to go bare legged was considered tacky and trashy unless you wore leg make-up. Trouble was panty hose were very expensive for teenage girls to buy.
I think that she may be referring to a "cheap" sheer legging and the unfortunate ability to see the thong underneath/ through it. I'm a plus sized woman and I love my leggings all year, but girl nobody needs to see my undies.
Peep-toe shoes with fishnet stocking is a super cute retro - inspired look. A lot of designers will also do high-heeled platform sandals with tights. Pantyhose/tights with open-toe shoes is really one of hose that can go either way, depending on how you execute the look.
Some people can't use high heels because it hurts their feet. The platform shoe is a way help some people with that. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the platform shoes for nights out. They're not necessarily great for an office environment. No pantyhose with open heels is just a rule. They actually sell open toe pantyhose now.
I think it’s hilarious that every single time I see bum shorts in action the person wearing them is readjusting their shorts every five seconds. I theorize that bum shorts ride up and may be a wedgie nightmare. I don’t know for sure thou, I would never show my butt in public. Great video Shea, keep em’ coming!
I’m not sure if I’m the only one on this channel who doesn’t care to carry a designer handbag or if there’s another one too? I like designers brands, but not to this Ext and to run after a bag that shouts the brand’s name
When I was a prosecutor we were expected to wear pantyhose! I actually miss those days 🤣🤣 I always had a tan, even looking leg! But always with close toed shoes 🙌🙌🙌
Gotta agree with everything except the hose. In a corporate setting, they were expected, although never with open toe shoes. I'll add my pet peeves: ripped jeans and cold shoulder tops. So ugly.
I agree with most everything here, but I will contest two items: The short cardigans and stockings. There are those of us who can pull off wearing short cardigans because we have short torsos. (See my profile photo for a perfect example) Those of you who have longer bodies should really stay away from short cardigans, though. And those funny little scalloped edged cardigans... well, those are better left in the tween department now aren't they? As to stockings- there is nothing wrong with wearing them if you like them. You just have to find the right kind type for each occasion. For instance, There are toeless stockings that allow you to wear peep-toe shoes and still give you the coverage you need/want from stockings without the garishness of nylon covered toes. Just make sure y'all allow for the many lovely variations of grey in life. :)
She wasn't anti-stocking, she was anti wearing regular stockings (not toeless stockings) with peep-toe shoes. And she is right. It is tacky to wear regular stockings with peep-toe shoes. It's like wearing socks with sandals...yuck. Toeless stockings with peep-toe shoes would be fine but not regular stockings with peep-toe shoes.
@@Cloudburst2000 Indeed, however, I felt it was essential to point out the existence of toeless stockings since a good number of young folks don't even know about them :)
I totally agree! I would add a little to this list. One is the super shimmer eyeshadows and the other is designer logos on everything you're wearing. - even if they are the genuine article. You don't want to look like a walking advertisement.
I agree. Shrug sweaters can be done well. I especially like a high waisted skirt, with a wide belt and a shrug that skims the belt over a simple shell top. A long cardigan doesn't look good over a skirt that has any fullness.
Wide (1 1/2 to 2 inch) belts look good with skirts that have some flair. Who makes up all these stupidly, rigid rules? I personally think the long nails in the video are tacky. Short cardigans with skirts look great though. www.outfitidentifier.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/6688.png
Seriously, and I mean seriously, you give THE best style tips ever. And I would know, because I've watched just about every single style tip video on UA-cam!
I agreed with you about the glitter, the shorts too short and other "sexy" items and of course, the horrible high heels shoes, but not about the little cardigans or jackets. Depending how you are wearing them, they could look nice and highlight your waist.
I am guilty of the short sweaters. I don’t like my arms because I have KP. What do you suggest I use instead during the summer to cover my arms when cute tops have no sleeves?
Laura McCollum, short sweaters (also known as shrugs or boleros) aren’t tacky. They are timeless and have been around for decades for a reason. Look at this picture and tell me if it reminds you of a little girl outfit: images.app.goo.gl/wU6qoRx3NT7cacx38. Look up vintage images to see the different ways they are styled.

"It costs a lot to look this cheap" -Dolly Parton. Unless you're going to make clothing cheaper I'll enjoy buying my gross used falling apart clothes from the goodwill and owning looking like the trailer queen I am!
Goodwill has nothing to do with it, it depends on WHICH goodwill. Go to the ones in the good part of the city where the rich donate. I've found all kinds of high end treasures, including a vintage Saks Fifth Avenue dress from the 1960's!
The majority of my clothescare from Goodwill & none of them are dirty ,dingy nor torn. I only buy item's that are in excellent condition. I've gotten many expensive brand's for a fraction of the cost I ❤ Goodwill
Lol I remember wearing those little crop cardigan things as a kid a lot especially when the weather was warm. My mom would buy a lot of tank tops for me but my school doesn’t allow shoulders to be shown so I’d have to wear those to cover my shoulders

This sound so traumatic. So sorry you have to get through this! Hope you're happy now 😊
@@MamiOf3kids Oh ya he got busted alright he cheated in many things I found out years later. He suffered for it dearly all his cheating caught up to him. @Caiti M Exactly, and I am too
@@simonatoader1193 Oh ya I was so fine life got better right when he walked out my door :) I didn't shed a tear. We call the overdone eyelashes "caterpillar eyes." No one should do this ever!
word....when you can't even see their eyes due to the lashes....it DOES NOT enhance the eyes....Periodt
Agreed!
Agree!!! Some of them are so thick they look like mustaches!!! 😂 😂 😂
Yes! Why are those terrible lashes still everywhere?
I LIVE for my long fake lashes! I have the extensions on now, not in my profile pic though.
I personally don't like thick or too long fake eyelashes.
a9ln me either🙁
i don't even care if people want to look like trash with the tacky fake lashes, it's just that sometimes they're so heavy or poorly set on the lid that the person wearing them is seriously blinking _so rapidly_ that it's uncomfortable to interact with them.
Whatever makes a person happy and glow within is all that matters! Everyone is free to be themselves and find joy however they want....
Of course, but if you want to be in a certain position in life you have to not look crazy. Some women over-load enhancements - fake hair, nails, lashes, tan, lips, boobs, butt. Then they weR giant heels and carry giant purses. At some point they look like cartoons
@@gladlock okay so? If they're happy with that and feel comfortable who are you to judge?
@@sonja3555 No one professional hires a woman who looks like a stripper. Try to live in the real world a little.
Love the shoes, not tacky to me. Love that we’re all different
Period, the higher the better for me😂
Yep, I usually agree with her, but I do really like the look of platform heels (and platform wedges 😬).
I love shoes with platforms because they are more confortable, more padding for the pads/balls of my feet.
Agree that.I like the shoes but they will not very high platforms and below 2Cm should be better.
Kat Wolf of course, because they were made for exotic dancers
You'll have to pry my platform heels away from me. 😂 I'm short and I wear all of mine with wide leg dress pants because it's cheaper to buy tall shoes than to hem every pair of pants I buy and the added height makes for a longer, leaner silhouette. Would love to see more of these videos. Entertaining.
I personally love them!
A. Beaverhausen I do wear platforms or wedges because stilettos kill my feet in one hour. Plus they give you hammer toes. Ouchy :(...
AMEN.
Especially if you have an hourglass figure.
i think it's tacky to judge others but to each their own i suppose
Angela West bless
I guess u and I are tacky too
Huiya Yuan lmao. Ikr, Angela sounds haughty imo. Like, it was a video of opinions???

Heather Gilreath I’m a lawyer and have to wear pantyhose every day in court. I really despise them. Lol
@@emstrak1 I hate them, too, lol. But sometimes they are a neccessary evil. 😄
I honestly wasnt sure if tights and panty hose were the same thing 😂 Tights are great in winter tho
@@abarbaradorsey3713 I use Loving tan, but I still don't feel comfortable. I have poor circulation. And, yes, boots with skirts are perfect! 👌
You didn’t consider different body types, crop sweaters look good with high waisted skirts on women with short torso.
Watching this wearing a shedding glitter dress 😂😂😂 in my defense it’s my birthday 😂 I needed the glitter 😋
Girrrrrllllll. I am crying laughing 😂 at this video because I totally agree. Great video. I love your style. Keep em coming!
They make the wearer look like they are hort and trying too hard.
I love Shea's ability to do a video like this without coming across as superior. She provides her opinion in a non-threatening way. Something some who have commented here could learn from. Soooo many judgey people!
I believe everyone should be able to wear whatever they please as long as they feel confident!
I love glitter and will continue shimmering lol
🤣🤣🤣
Same goes about overdone eyebrows and super long nails. I do like that natural eyebrows are in, that’s how it should be with most things anyway, but overly drawn, thick, obvious looking eyebrows are just, well... tacky.
Lucine Khachatrian UA-cam makeup trends nowadays are all tacky to me, but especially those super bold, dark, thick brows. Thick brows only look good when they are natural in my opinion. When they are drawn on, it looks too fake and commanding.
Hi, I wanted to let you know that your recent hair video was seriously life changing for me! The way you curl your hair... I was never able to curl my hair nicely, but I used your technique and it turned out great, and took very little time. Just wanted to say a huge thanks!!

OHHH. MY. GOODNESS!!! Hahahaha...I so appreciate you being nice about that! TOO FUNNY THOUGH!!! That photo was just perfect with the white background, but still really emphasized my point! I have no idea where I even found it?!?
False eyelashes done right is supposed to enhance the eyes, but if "too bushy", look awful.
I love nicely done eyelash extensions! They look so good (when done right lol)
One more, IMO: glaring designer branding; think Michael Kors purses. Ugh.
Especially the ones with the logo plastered all over. It's like you're just advertising you have a fake designer bag. They're so bad.
Totally agree! And I’ll get push back but even the Louis Vuitton bags with LV all over them. So tacky.
YES. MK is so tacky. I don't understand why everyone likes this brand. Fake designer bags are so tacky as well.
@@cassiemayatte3862 Never liked the LV design. It's so overt. Ugh.....

I’m 4’10, so platform shoes are usually something I go for, HOWEVER, if the platform is more than an inch or two, we’re headed into exotic dancer status. so I think with platforms, you have to think tastefully.
How about, let people wear what they want and stop being so toxic, literally haven't seen a comment section so insecure and hateful in a while

I don’t get why you’re getting so hurt over my comment it’s not like you’ve got any skin in the game as far as I can tell

When I was a kid, I wanted to wear pantyhose. My mom said they were too adult for me. I finally got old enough to wear them. I instantly hated them. Love that you mentioned them!❤️
i actually like the tiny cropped sweaters 😳 not wearing it over tops, but buttoning it up and wearing it as a top with high waisted pants :)
People who wear platform heels and caterpillar eyelashes usually rock fingernails that are way too long. 💅
Those shorts are only cute if you’re at the beach lol
Other than that it’s not cute😑
Also glittery clothes make me itch so no thank you
carmen lugo I agree. IMO the only place for bum shorts is at the beach, on a boat, etc. Basically as a swimsuit cover up.
Glitter makes me itch.
Also, those HUGE fake eyelashes need to stop. You look like you have a tarantula on your eye.
carmen lugo yup
Amy Noe yup
Haha I said the same then I read this ...

"Bum" shorts.... pun intended 😂😂😂
Hahaha too funny!!🤣
Tiffany555 yup shorts in general should only be sold to thin people
Eh to each their own- I think most of these have their place depending on your specific style/age/career etc
still doesn't discount that it looks tacky lol
The platform on the bottom of heels help with comfort rather than being flat / close to the floor.
This^!
wondernessful - no it doesn’t. Those are the most uncomfortable shoes probably ever designed in the history of shoes. I promise you look funny while walking around on those.
Caiti M yes. I found comfortable shoes with and without platforms
Truelily7 Amen! No garter belt, or (horrors) girdle - to school! I'm still having trouble with the nude legs with dresses.
Add to the list Leggings especially the sheer ones paired with a thong.
Marjorie Rushie I still love leggings with long sweaters and boots in winter. Staple
I live in leggings!!! And I wear shirts that ALWAYS cover my crotch and whole butt!
OMG who wears shear pants of any kind?!?!
I think that she may be referring to a "cheap" sheer legging and the unfortunate ability to see the thong underneath/ through it. I'm a plus sized woman and I love my leggings all year, but girl nobody needs to see my undies.
if they’re seethrough, they shouldn’t be considered leggings
Well when you got a dress code you def got to put one of those little sweaters on
Peep-toe shoes with fishnet stocking is a super cute retro - inspired look.
This was fun to watch!! Would love to watch a video on designer knock offs! 🍂🍁🧡
Designer bags with logos 😖
Shea: do you look tacky?
Me: yes, you do
When I was a prosecutor we were expected to wear pantyhose! I actually miss those days 🤣🤣 I always had a tan, even looking leg! But always with close toed shoes 🙌🙌🙌
Yep. I was required to wear them at many jobs back in the day. It also wasn't 100 degrees in October!
Oh screw all of this. Women wear whatever you please.
Gotta agree with everything except the hose. In a corporate setting, they were expected, although never with open toe shoes. I'll add my pet peeves: ripped jeans and cold shoulder tops. So ugly.
I wanted to say that I love your channel. Most style bloggers are so boring; fashion doesn't have to be so serious.

Shrug. Those small sweaters. You're talking about "Shrugs". :)
I totally agree! I would add a little to this list. One is the super shimmer eyeshadows and the other is designer logos on everything you're wearing. - even if they are the genuine article. You don't want to look like a walking advertisement.

Oh no! I like my little shrug sweater. Especially when the weather gets colder to transform my sleeveless tops and dresses.
Wendy P - sleeveless is already unnecessary for cold weather. That’s when you pull out out of your storage your winter clothes WITH sleeves.
I agree. Shrug sweaters can be done well.
I especially like a high waisted skirt, with a wide belt and a shrug that skims the belt over a simple shell top.
A long cardigan doesn't look good over a skirt that has any fullness.
Marthatravels ehhh wide belts are a no too imo
Wide (1 1/2 to 2 inch) belts look good with skirts that have some flair.

Dr dray is a dermatologist on UA-cam has some great recommendations for KP

Laura McCollum, short sweaters (also known as shrugs or boleros) aren’t tacky. They are timeless and have been around for decades for a reason.
