the song was a single from 'everything is wrong', and it came out in 1994 (i think), when the rave scene was in a very strange (not bad, just strange) place (mainly due to the excessive amounts of drugs most of the ravers were taking).
so my friend julie and i wanted to make a video that somehow felt like a small underground punk rock rave. we were supposed to shoot at the old masque in l.a (a legendary punk rock venue), but at the last minute we lost our permit. so we shot in the alley outside of the masque. we were supposed to have a bunch of professional extras, but we didn't have the budget for professional extras, so we rounded up some local homeless kids and skateboarders and gave them sandwiches. we were supposed to have a female singer in the video, but we decided at the end of the day that it was easier to put me in a wig and a dress and have me pretend to be a female singer.
so we ended up with a crazy chaotic time capsule of a video featuring accidental trannies (well, tranny) and homeless punk rock kids and skateboarding ravers and a lot of broken equipment.

That's me at the 6 second mark (plaid shirt, hat backwards and various points in the video dancing). I was 20 years old and the world was mine to conquer. It felt like anything was possible. I just found this video after so many years. We had a great time that night and Moby was so cool he even granted me an interview after the shoot for a little rave zine I used to contribute to.
htid!
Wauw i love this so much .
I would have preferred if a 17 year old was stripped and violated on stage instead of those nice synths getting destroyed. This was in NYC where 17 is an adult and is therefore considered acceptable. Do you know why Moby didn't do this instead?
That's so cool
Can you tell me if that's Moby dressed up as a female with the brunette wig and dress on!? Its driving me crazy trying to figure this out 😂
Only people who grew up with this music in the 90's are knowing how it feels to be free. And there Is something in our harts that misses the atmosphere that you cannot find nowadays in this world. We only can summon this special feeling by listening to our beloved music from that time. So there is a kind of special feeling we share from the 90's that no one from another generation will ever understand.
You're right, I can't experiment that feeling in other way
this shows how 90's were culturally different, that time i loved so many different kind of music , trance , rave , techno, rock, alternative, rnb, etc--love it!!
Well that escalated quickly may I ask why
This selection shows the wide range of Moby's song styles. I wish he would make more songs like this one and 'Move (You Make Me Feel So Good)'. So euphoric.
This song has such a good 90s vibe absolutely love it.
100%
The chords. With Moby, it's always the chords that being the magic. He's a genius about them even today
This has been my favourite song of all time since I first heard it on MTV as a youngster. I want it played at my funeral. Thank you Moby.
94 - i Was ten years old, MTV was playing REAL music, i remember this and The Prodigy's - No Good and Voodo People, stuck in my mind and heart since then. Went on going crazy with Prodigy - THE UNTOUCHABLES in music - but still big respect for Moby, especially this track wich every time i hear it gives me that feeling that i felt 24 yeas ago. This is the beauty of good music , its a time machine.Thank you for creating this Moby.
One of the best songs ever recorded. And I know A LOT of songs.
Easily one of the greatest tracks of all time. I tear up every time I hear it. Legendary.
The first song that introduced me to Moby's music. And even after all of these years I love it because it makes me feel so real.
x2
Einer der besten Songs von Moby. Gefällt mir nach 26 Jahren immer noch. Erinnert mich an Love Parade. 👍✌
I'm feeling so real. Love you Moby. Love and Light.... and laughter... ^^
sim..Moby também é sinônimo de rebeldia..
vídeo bacana..música top
It's incredible to think that this song came from an American artist. There were very few American artists that so closely replicated the UK rave sound.
The reason why Moby is so great!
his best song, he's such a gift to the world
thepetsaver no
Take me away.. take me away.. take me away.....ahaa....
Doesn't get much more uplifting than this!
Epic tune.
Brings back some great memories!!
My sister bought me this single with all the remixes to it for Christmas when I was in H.S. Soooo long ago. The 90's were awesome!
This is such a unique song! It's like a mix of synth pop, blues, and drum and bass. Before electronic music was as big as it is today. I love all the changes in vibe throughout the song.
There were hundreds of songs like this at that time. It’s not unique at all. But it is a good tune tho
There is no Drum and bass here. It’s called Hardcore
This is completely in the style of early '90s UK Happy Hardcore, almost to the point of parody. Check out the Prodigy's first album "The Prodigy Experience".
@@TheRestartPoint Prodigy The Experience is def not happy hardcore. It’s just Hardcore.
For quite a long time, every time I touch my face and the hand slides a bit up, this song starts to play in my head. Somewhat like flashbacks after LSD. Both the song and the video are terrific.
This is soooo GOOD..тогава бях млад и в ЯЛТА полудявахме всички щом започнеше това парче.БЬДЕТЕ ЗДРАВИ И СЕГА Е ВАШ РЕД СКЬПИ МЛАДИ.АЗ СЬМ МИШО
This track is so massive till this goddamn day. Proper rave anthem.
I was there when they filmed this video in Downtown LA. Moby was so cool to us!
Who's the chick with the red hair/ramones shirt?
Moby ... sincerely thanks for this song and for making such an AWESOME basline!
YES YES HERE WE GO
This song is SO hype. Always pumps me up. Thank you so very much Moby, your songs are such a current inspiration for me!
This song is the reason i am deaf in one ear 👍
Yes! yes! Here we go! ❤
Excelente, que recuerdos :)
Love this party song....great beat and energy...
So many good memories the year 1994 I remember going to a real underground rave in downtown LA with a car full of crazy ass RAVERS lol...I remember one of the dj’s played this track mid set and daaamn I still get goose bumps we had fun till the end when raves end at 7am or even 9am bunch of crazy heads ahaha!!!RAVE ON!!!
Man I miss the 90's. ;-)
I am the 90s!😎
I miss is so much!!
This track and it's video are a perfect example, in contrast, how a lot of that spirit has gone lost. It's mostly 'sterile' and non creative in lots of places nowadays. However, I actually was very surprised finding this spirit back in (East) Berlin! It's still out there!
Absolut richtig wie konnte das alles nur passieren??? Wir werden von dunklen Mächten geleitet die dieses feeling nicht kennen!!!
1994 1 year before my highschool Graduation, this song was my anthem back to back, thank you Moby 😢
moby was a GOD!!!!!!!! I remember this was dropped at some party in some warehouse somewhere in SF and ALL of us were just hugging and jumping up and down the whole time it played...miss that love.
oh moby u r so amazing i love ur music SO SO much !! SO Beautiful !! ur an AMAZING MAN !!
i'm reading 'Moby Porcelain' and i'm just to discover the moment when you record Myim Rose. "lemon hibiscus'.
Justine DUPONT I read it too!
Doing the same now, and made this the entire book, every artist or song that he wrote, amazing... Greetings from Brazil
love the energy to this track..
Ahhhhman this brings me back to the 90s..thanks for upload
legends never die
Best song to get our own centralized person In This World! To « Crier la Vie » and our own personnality too!❤
MASTER MOBY.
Always makes my heart ache.
I didn't even know there was a video to this track. This is insane. Moby wrapping himself in poison ivy, then destroying his keyboards and synths. Is this from a movie? would make an awesome movie.
Thaddeus Bach I was there for the video it was filmed in Hollywood by a,alley it wasn't for a movie I was paid as am extra to be in it bout 159 bucks a day and they told us to thrash things there it was fun dam noe looking back i was just a kid then
IMMORTAL !!!!!
I don't know if this is the feeling he is talking about but I do get these strange moments where the light is blinding and crude and all your senses are driven by an incredible certitude of clarity. So bright it hurt deep into your brain and you know for a short moment that you are here and now.
This is the Moby everybody miss. Now, all your songs are like slow, some bored and not interesting. Hope you should recover your way for great music like this.
Different times, different music. Moby is not the same as in the early 90s.
This is my favourite Moby period. I've still got (and play) the 2 disk Everything's Wrong DJ Mix album. He's done some great tracks since that album, but I don't grin like a muppet when I think of them like I do with this song and the album it came from. And the bass roll sounds incredible still.
@@paladinepaladine word. This track is indeed special. I only found it thanks to my boss 17 years ago, and it was old THEN.
But this is still so evocative of a time, a place, a mindset.... this is fucking art.
old skool 😊
MOBY ERES MUSICA aqui en este mundo loco!! gracias x existir... yeaaaaah! esta rola uff es una maldita drog@ rica
No decade matches the 90s in music and Moby is part of that🫡.
This track used to be the guinness record holder for the fastest beat. With D&B, is that still the case?
Best song from Moby ...yes yes...good job !!!
Moby - Legend Forever.
2023 immer noch geil !!!
Когда первый раз увидел этот клип году в 95, подумал вот это круто и мощно, супер музыка! Happy hardcore forever!
Those 90s kids sure looked cool.
don't they! what a decade! everything was so free and loose. but only a taste of what the 60's were like i'd imagine.
DAVIDE STRAMBINO Conservo il silenzio interiore attraverso il rumore.....
'90s last great decade, for everything in music, movies etc
Yes, we did.
Up in the Top 3 with Moby - Everytime you touch me; and Messiah - Thunderdome.
i was privvy to this scene in the 90s and it was fuckin class ....exctasy was great
Could this Song pls never die ?
How ever the dancer does that around 2.58 is beyond me.... Fair play fella!
Вечная тема!!!!!

Or in 2024 - "Feeling so UN-real"
(thanks to the beautiful cyber world we have crafted for ourselves since those days...)
I'm feeling so....... I love Moby:)))))))
Thank you Moby, Thank you so much.
this is the best commercial for ecstasy ever made, except that one episode of 90210 where Emily Valentine doses Brandon Walsh
this song is meant to be played with a 10,000 watt music system
So ahead of his time and still unappreciated.
Nah, he stole this 100% from the early 90s UK rave scene. Pretty sure he'd happily admit that.
LOL. To say that he stole this sound from UK rave or hardcore is beyond ridiculous. He was doing techno in early 90s already in parallel with UK musicians. Of course, he was influenced by UK rave scene when he traveled there with performances in early 90s but this particular sound became widespread since late 80s and almost every rave act used it in those days. And Moby made this particular track with this early UK hardcore sound in dedication of those early 90s raves that he witnessed in UK. For US it was unheard of sound anyway in those days.
+eber lagos _1994, it was a very good year, i literally danced my ass off to this track, these were the days..._
robertwill23 check out Dream Frequency - Feel so Real (from 1992). A certain similarity...
Feeling so free.
1:37 is crazy!
When I heard this song for the first time I died and was reborn.
cause your sentence is so real
nah don't sweat it
Imaginary Friend it’s my favorite!
I really like this heated it on Don dialog mix
I always felt that this song would make a good opening theme to "Blade Runner: the Animated Series", since the idea revolves around cyborgs who do, or want to "feel so real".
So sweet
Good!!!
Unreal.............. That's the only word that comes to mind
Timeless......
moby is like the beck of electronic dance music
Feeling surreal
Classic!
Its so true
Ez nagyon jól sikerúlt.❤
set it up DJ!
when the drugs started to kick in
