God, I remember when those stupid jumpscare videos first came out. After I saw the first one, for quite some time after, I was on edge with every video I watched! I was always worried it would be another! But it's so funny that it got you again. 😂

I definitely remember some of those. It's funny how things that are obviously fiction are the scariest to me. The attempts at being "real" just end up being the same things over and over again. Blurry human-like thing, obvious editing, a bug, a door opens/closes...
Meanwhile you've got stuff like Marble Hornets or SCP wiki that are genuinely creepy.
The old internet was amazing for stuff like this. I remember it all so well. Damn, I'm old.
No it wasn't a car commercial, it was an energy drink from Germany and it scared the fuck out of me as a kid. The drink was called K-Fee

I remember the 'car ad' with the jump scare as well as the blue ghost. I seem to remember that it was after Ghostbusters came out, so everyone compared the blue ghost to the green ghosts in the movie.

The description to the first one I got was that ”some people see the ghost, some don't”, hinting that it's very subtle and that you need to pay close attention.

My ex husband did that with my 19774 Dodge Challenger that was supercharged. Unfortunately, he did not enter on a flat surface, but a ditch. At the speed he was going the car went under the fence just like that, but got ejected out the other side. Onlookers said it got airborne about 150 feet in the air before the wight of the engine pulled it down.

Hi Dan, I remember that advert thing and it scared the💩out of me too. I remember screaming and running out of the room as my younger brother (who got me to watch it) roared with laughter 😆 I remember you debunking the ghosts in the trees/bridle path. That car chase always made me laugh and I couldn’t understand why they didn’t know it went through the fence 😂 I agree that today the scare factor just isn’t really there anymore as the fakery is normally just so obvious. Paranormal files: fact or fiction (tv show) debunked the blue ghost at the gas station. They should've kept that show going, but Ben(?) Turned major ufo theorist and minor ghost hunter. They did some really detailed debunks, though. Even built replicas.

I think the clips that really got me freaked out were the sky trumpet ones. I thought "this is the part where Cthulhu was real" 😂😂😂 If I watched them now, 100% knowing they're fake, my mind is still like "buuut what if". 😂 really loved this video! 😁💗👻💗
Yeah I saw a all of those early ones on those shows made in the 1990s where they show weird things and claim them to be real ghosts or other paranormal things! I remembered that old ad that had that ghostly thing pop out, so it didn't really get me this time, though I am surprised it didn't, lol! I suspected that the gas station ghost of being a shopping bag blowing around in front of the camera, especially seeing as it's a blue blob! 😂
I love laughing, my mum and i watched Lee's stick figures to music, i was hilarious, especially the benny hill theme song. 🥺 i don't jumpscare anymore except when the grandkids or my sons open the front door really fast...your telepathic video I've watched so many times 😂, it's subtle humour and that is not easy, brilliant 👍.

Im 52 and I remember most of those videos when they came out.
My channel was created in November 2006 and the first video upload was 2010, no ghosts, just chickens. I would of uploaded videos earlier, but I had such a lousy upload I didn't bother.
I remember seeing you debunk the bug one, and the car with the fence.

I think the problem with the clips today is overproduction and trying to outdo each other. I remember one from the early days, a group of people driving and they pick up a young woman. They ask her questions and then all of a sudden there’s a loud scream from her and the car crashes. Wasn’t in English, so gave that extra mystery vibe. Creepy af. Real? No. But it gave us chills watching it.
Another, which I wish I could find again, was about a ghost of a woman in white. Was in some kind of castle like building. I’m pretty certain they demolished not long after (how convenient). I don’t recall the entire video, this was over a decade ago now, but there was photos and when they done something to the photos you could see skulls. It was creepy and fascinating. I remember a friend at the time was scared, while I was just trying to work out how they done it, so I’d watch over and over, which she hated lol

A blue bug, that big, a weird reflection maybe but the bug is either huge because it's right on the camera, or it's back to normal because it's on the car, i don't really understand how CCTV works, 🤔 ❤.

Dan, that first video was not for a car advertisement. It was a German advertisement for an energy drink similar to Red Bull or Monster, but specifically German made. The original video has music playing and after the zombie thing jumps up at you, you hear a heartbeat and see a picture of the energy drink while the German announcer tells you about it. Effectively they said you can get the equivalent heart race from their drink as you got from the jump scare. I remember cause in college we watched it in one of my German classes.
yes there was music in this one, which i did remember, but had the volume on the capture a bit low. Didnt realise it was an energy drink ad though :)

I remember my first experience with UA-cam. I worked at a nonprofit so the computers could barely keep up with video but my coworker said, you gotta watch this, it’s called two girls one cup. 😩That was my intro to the whole app so my expectations were never very high. BUT it’s still here! Think of how many things didn’t make it that long. 🤷♀️.

I used to love watching paranormal video uploads, but there are certain channels appear over the past couple of years that have totally spoiled the enjoyment, so much so that I don’t even bother any more 🤷🏼

Adobe Premiere was first released in December 1991. Video editing software had been around for years before UA-cam came along.
Yep, I was using premiere and photoshop way before youtube existed :)
