@@prod.off-grid I think they are capable of achieving the same desired performance for the M3 while staying consistent with kidney grills, as they proved that with the M5,8 and previous M3’s. I think it’s most probably just a bad exterior design decision.

they stack 2 twin intercoolers vertically, side by side, so the grills are there for maximum airway
