Not bad reels (there are better options ie the Fathom reels or for distance Akios Shuttles), but i dont think there's any need at all for the mag knob. The flat button shaped dial on the mag 2 and 3 was fine to use
Wait till it breaks! there is a nylon bush inside that main gear rides on which fails taking out gearing loose drag functions.Pretty sure it comes from where Penn stuck Stainless steel main gears in them "why" which isn't self lubricating like bronze is which wears parts out inside.Fathoms and older 5's have bronze with no issues.
I had literally just started back fishing after 5>6 year break, the rod and reel was brand new, I only had a dozen or so cast in the video and was just getting used to them. But yes generally I do slow the reel down before the lead hits the water.
Allow you to have more grip to the spool, especially when the line is wet and protects your thumb from the shockleader knot, which could taking a chunk out of your thumb
Measure the width of your thumb and you can buy inner tubes within that width, cut them into about 30mm lengths. What I like to do it use a leather cutting punch to remove a section where my thumb bends so it has less resistance
Impressed How easy
You Cast 6 oz

What size thumb gard are you useing
Made a load of them out of a bicycle inner tube
Looks a good reel, would you consider it to be a good all rounder or just smooth growing?
Sorry smooth ground
Do you not thumb the spool to stop over runs when lead hits the water ?

Where do you get the thumb covers from?
I made them from a bicycle inner tube, can pick one Holford for about £3 to £4 pound and you can make 40+ atleast from one inner tube
@@tamarblanker3324 what do you do to fit them to your thumb?

If google translation was correct, the answer to you question is, the rod is 13ft long.
