    Makes little sense, krone big balers do near 70 tons per hour and grid powered electric motors are cheaper than diesel powered pto.

    is it worth the investment ? I believe the machine cost around $375.000 not included a high hp tractor. The JD you see is almost the minimum you can use. So another tractor with a high horsepower is also a $250.000.

      Agricultural Life well locally here in Canada it may be worth it. There are alot of fallow fields which would be free to cut and frankly pellets for burning are not cheap. Also pelletized feeds would solve alot of storage issues for small farmers. These are something like 20 times more compressed so far less physical space needed while keeping all the nutrients.

      the cattle need bales to not have digestive problems, not pellets .. Pellet is only used for factories of concentrates, at least in my country greetings

    Deere had a self propelled machine that did something like this. So its not the first.

      My father was a Deere dealer in the 80's and he sold one of these and the farmer did not like it. Deere never sold enough to keep them on the market.

    Why do this on the field ? It's so slow. Collect the straw and do this at the farm or factory

      P&J Farming probably worth round baling them then feed the bales into it at the farm in the uk but over in Europe they've got better weather window to harvest in , would certainly be worth investing in though as raw materials prices are always going up thus the compound feeds price will rise too. There used to be grass driers all over the UK but have now dwindled to a handful Dengie must surely be the biggest commercial outfit here now & only aylscot driers in Devon are the only one in the southwest. I used to be the forager driver at Ilton drier years ago but that's been gone 25 yrs or more now

    what is the point?

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 6 років тому

      several points,, first, transport costs, 1 trailer load of straw pellets is same volume as say 4 to 5 loads of straw bales, that matter if you shall transport it long distances.
      also, nowadays you have pellet ovens that burn wood pellets,, they can also burn strawpellets, but they would struggle chewing a big straw bale, hehe
      and so on
