    Interesting to learn that 4 years ago the Nutrimill Artiste was 650 watt motor because NOW it has a 500 watt motor. (But that seems to be enough!) I am very curious how much this Artiste cost 4 years ago. Do you remember? Oh, I see later in the video you said the price. It used to be in the $200 range (and it still is today if you get it on Black Friday, but otherwise now in the $300 range for the Artiste). The rumor was that it was taken off the market 4 years ago and has returned new and improved (which is kind of funny since it went from 650 to 500 watts)!

    • @TheBiblicalNutritionist
      @TheBiblicalNutritionist  Рік тому +1

      The wattage change was not a change in the motor but a change in how the motor is regulated. I know, sounds strange but it was a government thing.
      The motor is the same. Same is true for the Bosch mixer.

    I appreciate the review. I like the Bosch, but it is a bit on the big side and I don't have a lot of counter space.

    I have the Nutrimill Artiste, but honestly it always bothered me (the whole four months I have owned it) that they tell you not to put the dough hook in the dishwasher. That was the red flag. It is not openly discussed very many places in the Internet (including the Nutrimill website), but the dough hook with the built-in plastic extender made of an aluminum alloy. (One post said zinc as well, but I don't know.) Anyhow, I don't like the idea of something that looks like a metal that cannot be in a dishwasher. I do not have a Bosch, but in my research it appears that the Bosch also comes with a dough hook with an aluminum alloy. Nutrimill sells a replacement dough hook that is all completely stainless steel (which costs in the area of $85-$105 depending on where you get it as of March 2024). There is also a plastic extender that can be purchased that there is a way to attach it to the stainless steel hook which definitely works for the Bosch, but I have not yet been able to get it confirmed that it will fit in the Artiste. I SUPPOSE it will and I really want it because I know it will help. I have only used my Artiste one time since I received the stainless steel replacement dough hook 3 days ago, and it's the same but different, and it had me worried during mixing it was going to be unable to remove the dough that sticks on the sides -- but in the end it worked fine. I can understand that the company doesn't want to add another hundred dollars to the prices of the Artiste OR the Bosch, but I do wish they would make that an option and also be open about what the dough hooks are made of. (From my understanding a similar concern happens with the KitchenAide except that people KNOW they are not using stainless steel -- unless they purchase the stainless steel hook.) I'm really picky about what touches my food, and so I just wanted to bring this up. God bless! P.S. A replacement dough hook for the aluminum alloy dough hook that comes with the Artiste is $25-$30. I prefer the Artiste to the Bosch because it's a little bit smaller and it's way big enough for me, even though I bake also for a couple of my friends.

    Do you know whether there is an available metal bowl for the Nutrimill Artiste to handle hot ingredients (like an Italian meringue)?

    • @sashineb.2114
      @sashineb.2114 3 роки тому

      Hi, I can't answer your question, but on the topic of making Italian meringue in this type of mixer, I've seen a video where this is made with the Bosch Universal Plus (stainless steel bowl.) It looked like it worked OK, but someone in the comments said she tried it, and the very hot syrup splashed up to the top of the gears of the whisks. That melted the gears, whisks broke apart, and the top of the central column also melted a bit. Something to consider.

    That's very interesting. Thanks for showing this comparison. I have a Hobart-spec Kitchenaid, still going strong after 32 years, but I know it won't last forever. Do you know how the longevity compares with these two? Is the Bosch considered a longer-lasting product? Many thanks.

      @@chevyguy6961 I used my KA mixer the other day, still working wonderfully. Someone on The Fresh Loaf site (site for break makers) showed the interior of both the Bosch Universal Plus and Nutrimill Artiste. I was surprised at so much plastic. I didn't see any metal gears.

      @@sashineb.2114 With all the plastic it's amazing that they hold up to all the whole wheat breadmaking. I had my K5-A opened up for a good cleaning and regrease last fall and all the internal metal gears were in like new shape. Installed a new set of motor brushes too. I have to take a look at my mom's K45-SS next, I noticed it's starting to leak grease out of the mixer head by the Kitchenaid emblem trim. It's 44 years old so I think it's time to change out the old grease with some food safe synthetic grease. They run quieter with the synthetic grease.

    • @sashineb.2114

      @@chevyguy6961 I've read that it's a good idea to run the mixer for a couple of minutes during times when it hasn't been used. Supposedly, that helps in preventing the grease from breaking down and leaking. That's great that the gears inside your K5-A are still in such great shape. I've been really pleased with my KA mixer, and I hope your mother's will last a few more years. It's amazing that it's 44 years old. Yes, I was surprised by all of the plastic inside the Bosch and Artiste. I wonder what's under the hood in the Ankarsrum mixers.

      @@sashineb.2114 Got my K5-A really warm today when I was grinding a mixture of hard and soft wheatberries with the Mockmill Grinder attachment. You are correct on running the KA's atleast once a month to keep the internal grease from separating and leaking out. Mom's K45-SS will outlive me probably. It's had an easy life of mixing up cake and cookie batters. Still look's great too.

    Do you think the Artiste can handle dense dough like challah? I almost burned up a new Kitchenaid bowl lift mixer so it obviously can’t. I’m concerned about the plastic part of the dough hook on the Artiste……so I’m considering the stainless steel hook. I’m even considering the bottom drive stainless Bosch bowl.
