I haven't seen any charges for the round-trip last video. I'm waiting to see if I get charged twice for this ride thru the middle of Manhattan and back. Stay tuned and let me know what else you'd like to see.✌️
I have, and some of what they say is unclear. Specifically, that the highways are free. To what extent? What else am I missing? Only 1 way to find out. You the cops?
This is only the shock of getting charged, once the idea of tolls set in and ppl get used to it, it’ll be just like it was before with crazy traffic. Just like London.
Subway and bus fares are going up to $3 from $2.90 in August this year. They have already planned for the shortfall from congestion pricing due to less traffic, and the plan is to force as many people as possible to use the subway which is not safe for obvious reasons and commuter trains as congestion pricing fees increase in the future. Everyone is getting the shaft (pardon my expression) wherever one turns.
Other channels have shown a difference of less traffic. Strange how long it takes to get the charge on your EZ-Pass account. At least these videos are paying for the trips into the congestion zone.
@newyoricanlevitenyrican9592 back when I drove to work, I could expense my mileage. I guess for some people, it may work. But I imagine the people who can't afford to pay the toll aren't submitting expense reports 😌
I agree. The traffic both going to and coming home is a lot lighter than before, but that's traveling on the west side highway. The inner city is still heavy. My charges started appearing on my ezpass account also.
Most of what you see is the cost of doing business, not casual. That's the added revenue. The rest is on public transportation. Traffic primarily is due to reserved bus and bike lanes. They're just making money.
Again instead of MTA customers paying for rides businesses not even in NYC have to pay payroll/mobility tax to provide funding for Metropolitan Transportation Authority operations. The tax affects employers in the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District, which comprises New York City and Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, and Putnam Counties.

I think Kareem Abdul Jabbar does have a brownstone there. Because I have seen him come into the store on the corner store on 116th on Lenox Avenue one early Sunday morning a few years ago. Right now that store is closed because the building is being renovated.
You have to take the FDR down one extra stop and go around. But start on the east side if you’re going to the east side, you’re stuck in the two parallels, I think it’s 63rd and 57-58.
If you go around (coming from uptown) and do the Uturn like when you want to avoid the long exit line, you have to pass the gantry. Not sure if this means you get priced 🤔
Sometime soon, some business owner with deep pockets and access to heavy equipment will take the law into their own hands... They will either cut down or rip up the gantry holding up the Congestion Zone toll readers.
I think that hidden story in congestion prices project is to make money. Residents are hoping for lighter traffic but our governor,Kathy Hochuł, together with hard working NYC authorities have been expecting income. I do not think it is going to close current deficit but at least will fill some free spending fund!
How much would a subway ride cost if the customers actually paid a fare that covered the cost of operations? People paid for their cars, insurance, maintenance, parking, gas taxes, etc then made to pay for MTA users.
How much would roads cost if you actually paid how much they cost per mile to use? The point is that both roads and mass transit are both important and subway users pay for every trip, where road users don’t. Well, now they do.
If drivers ditching cars to save $9 but have to take train or bus instead they don't save $9 since two one way subway trips are $6 bucks. Inconvenience to save $3?
$6 and $9 5-7 days a week for a month become two completely different numbers when you are living on a budget. I spend about $1,000 a month on tolls just crossing bridges and tunnels and that’s working maybe 4 days a week. Now that $1,000 is going to become $200-$300 extra a month. The 59th street bridge just got a toll tagged on it because of this congestion pricing. No way to avoid it. Also, maybe people may not actually need to drive into the city but the convenience of having your own way of transportation and not having to rely on public transportation is a huge reason why many people drive in. I haven’t taken the subway or bus in 5 years because of safety. I’m 38 and I don’t even feel safe the 1 or 2 times I tried the subway and I got off the very next exit, and I grew up in the hood. Traffic was fine in the city until these lanes were reduced for bike lanes and these citibikes. Perfectly fine parking spaces have been eliminated. You can’t park in the street in midtown unless you are a commercial vehicle during certain hours. Two lanes turned to one lane. Three lanes turned to 2 lanes. Outdoor dining on the curbside eliminates parking spaces too. All of this creates heavier congestion. It can cause you to take 20 minutes to go from 5th ave to 6th ave easily (I know from experience). Congestion pricing could have been eliminated in many ways.
Ask all the businesses around that area if they’re gonna survive no traffic no business the same way they destroyed 14th St. by not letting cars up or down 14th st that’s a good way to paralyze New York on top of all the stores closing already New York is finished .
I drove through 57 to 53 from second ave to Madison and then back over 59th street bridge I didn’t notice any difference that was just before 9am and back 2 hours later , I’ve done that run before it’s the same and why charge at night when there isn’t any traffic just a money grab
The proof will be when products are costing more because they cost more to transport to the city. This is costing nothing but small business owners like myself extra money.
They created the congestion... People now have to be strategic how to get the most out of a toll charge. Small businesses will suffer. Can no longer take a scenic route just to venture out or visit friends and family.
It sucks ...especially. living in Manhattan goin to work in another boro....9.00 on 3 bridges that been free for 100 years...she definitely not getting re elected
Now that people are taking alternatives to get into the city and traffic is better, what's going to happen with all that money they have projected. They will come up short and the plans to fix the subway will take even longer unless they squander that money as well. I'm sure this is causing traffic elsewhere People are looking for ways to bypass these zones..it's way too soon to say if this is working.
Ok it’s works but who does it work for!? The rich and who ever can afford the pay 9 dollars every time! No one has money to blow like that other than the rich and those with money!
Good. I'm glad to see a reduction of private owned automobiles with only the driver themselves inside. These are the vehicles we need to get off the street of Manhattan.

They already pushed the small business out long time ago.
The city will be a ghost town with electric bike riders who don’t give a hoot about observing traffic regulations. They want to be like Amsterdam 😂.
If traffic is lighter this great news for drivers.

MTA says street traffic down 7.5%.
I heard that, too.

It all depends on day/time so YMMV. Literally. But I've driven in the zone enough to know, where the congestion really comes from.
35 year London taxi driver said congestion was better in the beginning but it all came.back
I wonder if this bit of info was found in their research and made congestion pricing more attractive 🤔
One week in a very cold January that likely would have less traffic anyway. Let's see what June and July look like.
Bingo!
Absolutely!! During the Summer season and the UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY it will be traffic mayhem.
@@waynecameron8253 I believe they can raise the rates to whatever they want if there is a gridlock day.
