A friend of mine used to take the bottles with him to work to turn them purple. He worked at a Nuclear Power plant. He would put the bottles in the rod pool. He said that they changed solid purple instantly. Some bottles turned oddball colors. I'm glad you found a couple items to save the day. Walking in that mud takes everything out of you!

    Bottle Ned,
Sweet video, I would've truly enjoyed that awesome adventure. When you look at a bottle that has been unnaturally radiated it gives off a dark blue tint too. My home has a lot of natural sun light many windows, plus I live in a higher elevation so my bottles get extremely purple, but you can definitely see the difference between the purple colors. Sorry I haven't responded like I should, but unfortunately I've been dealing with health issues. In California are there rivers that were close to towns that you could walk the rivers to look for antique bottles?. Take care Ned!!! I promise to get in touch with you. ✌

Ned, at the 52:08 mark you came across a piece of a steamboat, what you see is the remains of the paddlewheel, or what we called a "Brush Pile" on the steamboats on the Mississippi, Ohio, Illinois Rivers, etc., you see the shaft, flanges and the crank. The pieces of lumber that are bolted to the steel flange is what are called "Arms" the bucket board was then bolted to the arms, using stirrup bolts, or better known as U bolts. Makes me wonder what other things are buried around it, that alone was one hell of a find.

Need modifications to a childhood red Radio Flyer wagon. Leave the wheels ... and modify with some toboggan sleds (like amphibious planes and wheels) so that you can both travail the road, but also slide across the bay schmuck. Take off the handle and intall a waist-rope for pulling across schmuck and land. Be able to handle a ~goodly~ weight in the wagon (and some cooling material in keeping the bots cool and unbroken, while also hauling some nice cold brew. Forget the blow up raft.
