@@ilovethis00 D2-F7 the lows are fully projected till F#2 / F2 everything that is below depends on the day. I think I am a bass-baritone. Higher then that like I said it s not consistent.
She sounded different than usual at this show. Because it sounds like she's mixing everything here heavily. She. Made everything light and very head voice dominant, a lot more than usual I mean. If she was sick and protecting her voice or something
fact- she said that when she is sick, since her voice sits naturally on the high range,When she is sick high notes are easy for her to do but low notes are hard
Ariana doesn't have the best vocal technique. That's why she uses her jaw for the melisma's and sometimes raises her shoulders to breathe. But she has definitely improved from her old 2014 break free and problem performances. Her long F5 belts fell flat every time from strain, nasality, and NO SUPPORT at all. But if you watch those performances and here the 2016 ones, you will know EXACTLY what I mean by her improving. And I believe that is why she doesn't fall flat now on those belts and actually sounds more resonant. In her old problem perfomances, you will hear nasality, and high larynx to reach the high notes every time. And she has gotten a vocal coach since then! But also in 2014 every time she belted a g#5 her neck veins popped out and looked like they were going to explode, as an indication of strain. Her neck never looks that stressed anymore. If you compare her summer sonic performance of bang bang and problem, she strains so much it makes me scared. And it is a fantastic thing she added more head voice in her belts. And if you watch the video what is support/pushing/strain he explains that in performances of Ariana had support but no resonance and high larynx like the dangerous woman acapella. It is possible to have support and no resonance by the throat not being open enough. She doesn't have much support here I can agree, but she definitely picked it up on the high belts so she can sustain them and add vibrato into it. There are performances that she supported way more than this one like the into you billboard music awards.
The worst thing about this performance was Greedy and Break Free. She was tongue tension central in Greedy and sounded soooo nasal, and Break Free was soooooooo throaty and shouted. The rest was killer and she sounds amazing otherwise, love her to bits
Lmao yesterday I was singing her songs and I felt extremely proud of myself because I was singing her notes thinking they where high but they are her low notes
yeah I agree but she was sick. And it did seemed like instead of raising the soft palate and keeping the placement more forward, she let it fall a little too deep in her throat. at least she didn't over raise her larynx. Lol
to be honest her F5 belts to the G#5 sound the most supported. But she was sick here and had AMAZING resonance and kind of a lower tessitura or dark tone with a lot of raised soft palate. anyone please tell me they see what I mean😂😂. but the raised soft palate is good because it gives her more of a nuteral larynx
I'm saying compared to her performances in 2015 of problem and bang bang . she had an intense amount of jaw and tounge tension and absolutely no resonance. But yes she has resonance here, that's what helps create her mix and ease. But I'm not 100℅ sure on the support but there is resonance. Compare to her 2014 performance of problem when she had so much nasality, she can hold her g#5s with vibrato. (she never did in 2014) and if u listen to her bang bang in summer sonic she fell flat on the g5 with incredible strain. watch that video to know what I mean but compared to that video, her techniques have improved.
Those belts were not support (as Brian said) but I think she has improved a lot and if she really wasn't good she has done an amazing job (even thought she has some technique issues)
Brian Fengg. sorry, but another word for resonance is clarity and these upper belts were very clear. and the more u sing high in the head on the high belts without being nasal, it gives you resonance. if you sing high notes like that without resonance, you will not be able to sustain the note or have vocal clarity which she had here.

Jack Wilder female soprano's chest voice end at G#4 and after they typically mix head voice with chest to hit the notes without literally destroying their voice sksksksk
because most songs on sweetener and thank u, next don't have continuous high notes (like in Bang Bang and Greedy). She still has amazing ease (Breathin, Dangerous Woman and Into You) for example.
Her notes were good but so annoyed with her pronunciation and tongue tension. She pronounce the words with the syllable Ugh like instead of care it's ca-ugh-re I don't know how to spell it or explain it but it's like she's gargling
JCaunario I get exactly what your saying. she elongates the vowels to mix them with a lot of head voice. Its her way of protecting her voice but its annoying when theres better techniques. Like yeah shes not putting strain on her voice but shes also not resonating or supporting even.
shes great for a pop artist but just an average gospel girl in a choir or ensemble would make her not want to pick the mic up let alone an exceptional to extremly gifted gospel girl who sings lead :)
