Second clip from Pakistan of sitar/flute duet. Don't know the artists though. Raag Pahadi It sometimes feels as if the flute player doesn't realise there's a sitar in the duet. Nick
Just stumbled upon this beautiful duet in raaga Pahadi, flute player is Ustad Salamat Hussain, a great flautist, listen to his renditions of a number of oldie goldie Indian film songs of 50s and 60s, simply enthralling....!!!!
Only on audio. There may be some footage Of Poonchwaley-Ji but I haven't found it yet. If you know of anyone in Pakistan then they may be able get something. Nick
This is Rag Pahadi. If you know the Hindi film song Isharon Isharon mein dil lene wale, it is the same raag. Or Punjabi tappe which are also in Pahari. This is an Jugalbandi performed quite competently.
@lestephenois1 check for asraf sharif, he is son os uatad sharif khan of poonchwaley, ashraf is the best sitar player of pakistan at this time, he is living in germany now
What a magical combination of flute and sitar. Very gripping. I do not know the raaga being played but once started listening to it, I could not stop. Masterfully played. Thanks for sharing.
Sitar Jawaid Allahditta , Flute Salamat Hussain

Jawed Alladitta on Sitar & Salamat Hussain on Bansuri.
Oh, the magnificence and sheer joy of Indian/Pakistani classical music . .
Raag Pahadi.
I hope Pakistan has schools of music where this stuff is passed on to others so they don’t lose the art form as the masters get old!
Bol = Saeyan Bina Ghar Soona
do you have anything from the Poonchwale family? particularly anything from Ustad Mohammad Sharif Khan Poonchwaley would be greatly appreciated.

Bahut chukria for the artists' details. I can't read the Urdu at the end cradits so I couldn't get their names.
Nick
'Search' here under Ustad Rais Khan. I've put up several videos as have others of this great master.

Bohat khoob
great
The bansuri did not allow this performance to become a proper jugalbandi. More Sitar would have made this more enjoyable.
As I said above.

Tabla player appears it could be Arshad who played for Ghulam Ali (aawargi) I could be wrong though
such a beautiful rendition of raag pahadi (pahari) ...
Sitar = Javedullah Ditta/ Bansuri = Salamat Hussain/ Tabla = ??
