I am screaming and jumping up and down! I've finally found a channel that has dancers that look like me! I'm so happy. I've literally watched dozens of videos! I swear most of them were so difficult I literally just threw in the towel thinking those dancers didn't want to teach me ballet--just show off their form. I so happy with you two! Can you do a video or have you done a video on how to travel across the floor! My teacher says I have to keep my legs straight and take small steps! I want to be a snowflake one day so this is important! Thank you and keep up the good work!
Tonight, I followed along with this video while wearing ballet slippers. This is extremely helpful even when at home practicing without pointe shoes. Thank you!
I dont have my pointe shoes yet but practicing these combos with demi pointe position is also helping me a lot ...Thank you soo much both of you have really been very inspiring and watching you just buckle ups our energy 😘😘👍👍👍keep up the great work..🥰🤗👍✌🏻
Thanks!! This is great! I really hate to do échappé's but that's why it is such a great combination! Can you maybe do a video including a pas de bourree... think about it :) I will practice, practice, practice!
I am 11 and on pointé and I love it so much and I still do these even though my teacher says my ankles are super strong! Do you have any tips on having less pain in shoes?
maybe using theraband if they really hurt like pain see a doctor because my friend had tendonitis and she's on pointe but take it careful, also be very careful because at your age your bones might still me developing.
This is amazing and really helped me level-up my point work in center. Have you made a new center pointe strengthening video that is a level up from this one? I've done this one a bunch and I'm ready for the next step :-)
If you haven't already, could you show us proper head and arm placement when dancing? Like where to look when putting your foot behind you, and when to move your arms when moving to another position? Thanks!!
I have some questions for you guys! I did ballet for years when I was 15/16, but never made it to pointe. I am now 19 and really want to go back and master pointe work, is it too late?
It's not too late. If you can find a studio to work with, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to work up to pointe. The timeline may vary depending on how many classes you can take a week and how strong your ankles are, but it is possible.
+Elena Hernandez I have almost always been a Bloch girl but right now I'm wearing Capezios! The shank seems to support my foot better and I feel much more stable than I ever have before in pointe shoes. I want to give Gaynors a try some day. They seem to be all the rage right now! - Jana
How long do you recommend doing the pirouette preparation combination before you can start to turn it? I'd love to build up to pirouettes on pointe, but I'm not sure of the process.
+AriRHen This depends on a lot, and varies for every student. I have had 11 year olds I have put on pointe who have done a triple pirouette the first day in pointe shoes. This may not be typical, but it is possible. A lot of it depends on how strong you are in them before going on pointe, as well as the mental game. I've danced on pointe as long as I can remember, but sometimes if I've been off for a while, it can be hard to mentally prepared for it again! I recommend trying quarter turns and half turns, and just seeing how they feel. As always, be sure you are working with your teacher - someone who sees you dance will know better how close you are to being ready to turn.
Amazing! I have a question for Jana. I think you mentioned in another video that you have flat feet (I do too!). Do you ever find it scary when not getting completely over the box, especially in passé or pointework on one leg? I'm just starting to do pointe work on one leg in center and it sometimes scares me. Do you have any advice for getting more confident?
+Pink Pointe Hi! Great question! The answer is a big fat YES :) It took me years to get over the mental block I had about pointe work on one leg. Even in this video you can see I was struggling - a combination of being off pointe for a year, wearing a new type of shoe & not having my padding figured out yet, and just not being strong enough. What helped me in the past is to really work on building strength, because when I feel strong I am more confident. I would do leg & ankle strengthening exercises outside of class and also work on one legged pointe stuff at the barre. Lots of releves in coupe, arabesque, passe, etc. This will also help your feet get stronger so you can get all the way over your platform every time. If you get nervous during class take a deep breath, think about your plie, and staying forward in your upper body! I hope that helps - you can do it! :)
Thank you so much! That is so helpful! I get a bit of a mental block, especially on my left foot which is my weaker foot. Once you're on the platform, it feels fine but just getting there sometimes can be so unnerving (especially if you don't push hard enough from plié and just get on the bottom rim of the box. yikes). Thank you for sharing your experience!
I just recently started doing pointe work again after almost 10 years without putting on pointe shoes. I have been watching your videos to try and get back in the swi g of things. I also have 6month old twin girls so this is as close to classes as i can get. Please check out my video on here and on Google plus and give me some tips as to what i neef to work on. And please keep posting thank you so much
Not necessarily. They help keep you extra warm, but they are not as heavy duty as the Slim EZ pants like these: www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B0044M2OK4/peteewill-20
+Zephie lovet Health and safety should be your priorities if you are interested in losing weight - things that take time to do right. Regular ballet class attendance is a must in order to get on pointe. You can also work on strength building exercises outside of class (legs, ankles, feet, core, back) and doing cardio. Luckily all of these things along with eating healthy should help you start to lose weight. Trying keeping a calendar with what exercises you do each day. Be kind to yourself and your body! You don't have to be super slim to dance on pointe!
