The quest for "obese" drum sounds continued at the 2013 Winter NAMM Show as Kickport (which hit the market with a bang just a few years ago when it introduced its flagship bass drum sound enhancer) launched an idea we first saw as a prototype at the 2011 NAMM Show. The new FX Series scales down the size of the woofer on the new FX Series, enabling drummers to install mini Kickports on snare and tom heads. Do drummers want to put holes in their batter heads? We'll find out!

Winter NAMM: Everyone wants to hear what everything sounds like. Maybe next year, the sound will be clearer...
I think it sounded more like mic'd drums without being mic'd. Interested in how you cut the holes without ruining the heads though.. Seems kind of risky, plus will it take away from any duribility
I understand the concept, and I think they did a good job. I jut think that there's a better way to get what it is you want for sound: felt strips, cotton balls, and duct tape. A solid tuning method as well, of course.
Plus that's way cheaper than these FX series ports. But to each his own, I suppose.
they can still hear what everything sounds like... but they will hear things a bit more individually. instead of a constant noise.
Will they comes out with O-Zone cymbal version too? :P
Do you think that enhances the sound?
it's supposed to... i've been drumming for what? 13 years now? it only sounded more muffled (as strange as it sounds) but i personally dont think the video did it justice... i wish nam was separated with sound dampening foam and separated into cubicles. that would provide a better presentation.. a tad more expensive to host, but have each company pay a larger fee and slightly raise the ticket cost...worth it.

Why ruin a head singing like this?! Consumerism comes to mind...
