    Which part of the city do you recommend if I visit from the UK? Any tips or advice?

      The Plaza and Paseo Districts. So much fun, and the food is fabulous.

      For the best view of OKC > visit Vast, an upscale cocktail bar & fine dining restaurant. It's on the 49th floor of the Devon Tower aka the tallest building in OKC.
      The Myriad Gardens and Scissortail Park are beautiful parks and have cool events in the summer;
      For a cool true American sports experience, attend a NBA basketball game at the Paycom center or an OKC Dodgers Baseball game at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
      Visit Bricktown and the Bricktown canal if you enjoy a little bit more of the "touristy vibe". There are all kinds of entertainment, bars, and restaurants there. If you really enjoy the cheesy touristy stuff, you can take the Bricktown canal water taxi ride. Haha.
      For watersports and bike trails , check out the Boathouse district by the Oklahoma River and visit Riversport OKC. www.riversportokc.org/visit/about/boathouse-district/
      Like Matt Hearne mentioned in the comments, OKC has many fantastic restaurants! Check out the "Visit OKC" website below for a well organized list of restaurants for each district. Each district has its own unique character.

      @@Oliver_mitskisnobody I agree. :) OKC is getting better and better!
      Speaking of tourists.. One of the best projects I've seen so far is the $2 billion American Heartland Theme Park and Resort. Oklahoma will have its own Magic Kingdom-size Americana theme park! Travel & Leisure posted an article about it. www.travelandleisure.com/american-heartland-oklahoma-theme-park-7563443

    Wait they upgraded it now and finally have extra space for the waiting room for passenger guests

    • @TheWeeklyDeparture
      @TheWeeklyDeparture  Рік тому +1

      Yes! After the latest round of renovations they now have two excellent places for people to wait for arriving passengers.
      They added a nice seating area just outside the passage from airside to landside. Plus the mezzanine overlooking the main TSA checkpoint and a section of the ramp. (There’s a video of the mezzanine on this channel)

    The first airport I ever went through, and the only one I didn’t get lost in 😂
    maybe I’m biased but it’s my favorite.. and I’ve been to many.
    How dare they get rid of the Sonic though!

      @@TheWeeklyDeparture I agree. My dad worked there when I was little and I remember feeling like it was such a big place. Now I have nightmares about a layover in Atlanta 😂

    So, I’ve been researching the new observation deck and have been wondering how one enters it, can anyone tell me?

    • @TheWeeklyDeparture
      @TheWeeklyDeparture  Рік тому

      Both entrances are in the departure hall. One is the stairs right by security/TSA close to where the security line begins. The other is the stairs right by the departure hall waiting area. Both stairways take you straight there and have signs above it that say "Mezzanine Observation Gallery".
      I have pictures of both entrances on the website.

      OKC flights almost all depend on DFW connections.
      OKC airport, is in effect, a Texas airport.

    seems clean and modern. thanks for sharing a vid of the place. I wonder if there are any Priority Pass Lounges?

    • @TheWeeklyDeparture
      @TheWeeklyDeparture  11 місяців тому +2

      Absolutely! There’s not that much footage of OKC airport online so I’m happy to share it. 😃To answer your question, there are no airport lounges at this airport.

    • @rchilde1
      @rchilde1 7 місяців тому +1

      Unfortunately, there's not a frequent flier lounge YET, but it is being discussed and likley will be added once the city gains international flights (FIS is being built out as we speak).

  • @adams8132

    OKC airport is crap and limited. Everything from there goes through DFW.
