Not bad. It's nice you got a meal on an hour long flight. I haven't been back to Asia since 2019. Even though I haven't flown Cathay, it brings back good memories like when I flew Asiana. Thanks!
I went to China and Taiwan this summer. First, I flew from SFO to Taipei one way. Then, I flew from Taipei to Wuhan one way. Finally, I flew from HKG to SFO one way.
Some countries in Asia that are on my bucket lists include India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, Japan, South Korea.
As an interesting side note, the Hong Kong to Taipei route is the busiest international airline route in the world. And CX was probably one of the hardest hit airline from Covid. During the height of the pandemic, the airline lost more than 99% of its passenger traffic per month. It was only in 2023 that the airline was allowed to resume operations free of restrictive Covid prevention measures. They are still struggling with some Covid impact with staff levels not yet recovering to pre-Covid level. So that would impact service. As for the A330, these are the older CX seats which have been phased out of the non-A330 fleet. CX should start replacing the A330s with the A330neos in the next couple of years. On the inflight meals, yeah its pretty basic, although usually you will get a more plentiful meal on longer flights, as the Taipei one hour flight limits the food options, at least for economy.
Thanks for your comment. I didn’t realize those seats I was on were older seats being phased out. Certainly CX had a rough few years. Hopefully they can get it together for them to achieve great customer service which they were previously known for.
@@BayAreaTraveler I might add this particular flight isn't necessarily reflective of a more typical CX flight, which has a more decent inflight meals and better IFE on the seats.
I would like to travel to India sometime in the future. But, I would like to do it while visiting my family in China. I'm thinking of flying from HKG to New Delhi, India and then back from New Delhi, India to HKG just like how I flew from HKG to Nairobi, Kenya and then back from Nairobi, Kenya to HKG in 2017. The only thing I'm worried about is the unhealthy air quality especially in New Delhi.
For countries that are located on the western side of China (e.g. India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Nepal, Bhutan) I would like to travel to these countries while I'm visiting my family in China by flying from HKG airport to destination and then from destination back to HKG.
I would like to travel to Japan. But, I would like to do it while visiting my family in China. First, I'm thinking about flying from SFO to Tokyo one way. Then, I'm thinking about flying from Tokyo to Wuhan one way. Finally, I'm thinking about flying from HKG to SFO one way just like how I flew from SFO to Taipei one way and then Taipei to Wuhan one way and then HKG to SFO one way. I would do the same for South Korea. First, I'm thinking about flying from SFO to Seoul one way. Then, I'm thinking about flying from Seoul to Wuhan one way. Finally, I'm thinking about flying from HKG to SFO one way.
I've heard that India especially New Delhi and Bangladesh especially Dhaka have like very unhealthy air quality (almost hazardous air quality) in the winter.

@@aviationwithjeff Thanks Jeff for watching. Hopefully you’ll have another chance soon to visit Asia. Food over there is always amazing!
It's standard on asian carriers I got a meal on Shanghai Airlines and Eva Air Flight time less than 2 hours
Very nice long flight report!
thanks!
