The battle on the ice between Russians and Teutonic Knights is the main part of the cantata Alexander Nevsky, by Prokofiev. There's a famous movie by Eisenstein showing the whole story: Alexander Nevsky. He led the Russians to victory.
My grandmother's cousins the von Lilienschilds fought in the Crusades and later took part in the Baltic Crusades. Some members belonged to the Livonian Knights of the Sword in Riga, which later became part of the Teutonic Knights. It,s quite possible She had relatives who took part in the battle on the Ice.

Well, the Draculine lore began with the Oxygen Vampires, those we are very familiar with: the people who walk into a room and suck all the oxygen and energy out of it, draining life. We all have been around them especially in the workplace. The vampires surfaced way back in history around the time of The Diet of Worms, a 6 months long assembly and discussion convened by Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor to talk about Martin Luther. The number of eye-rolling collapses in the chambers have made history and gave rise to the Vampiric lore.
A scratch from a tooth led to him dying. Either that dead guy had the absolute worst oral hygiene or the living guy has the absolute worst general hygiene to let that get so bad it killed him. Also how sharp were his teeth!!
Vlad was actually about the earliest case of CPTSD on record. As a lad, he and his brother were truce hostages, and although safe thereby, got to see a few too many Ottoman impalements. As a result, strife triggered the memory, and he reenacted the scenes, often with friendly forces of the Holy Roman Empire from Saxony. They complained to the Emperor, who was too far away to do much, and so the legend started.

*Medieval War Story That Sounds Made Up*: On 29 July 1014, in the Battle of Kleidion, the Byzantine (or "eastern roman") Emperor Basil II defeated an army from Bulgaria. Having crushed the Bulgarians, Basil exacted what he felt was just vengeance in a most cruel manner. He was said to have captured 15,000 prisoners and ordered the removal of the prisoners' eyes one by one, thus fully blinding 99 of every 100 men, leaving one one-eyed man in each cohort to lead the rest back to their ruler. It was his brutal but war-ending tactic that earned Basil II his nickname: Basil the Bulgar Slayer

The fact small wounds could be fatally infected says a lot about the hygiene of the period. I’ve never required antibiotics for a cut except for prophylactic antibiotics after surgery. Soap and clean water makes the biggest impact. I’ve e never even needed a tetanus vaccine I thought there was a few times I needed one but they just disinfected the wound and and told me to watch it for a few days and come back if there’s any issues.
In the Battle of Two Kings the reason the knights took each other prisoner instead of killing each other was so that they could ransom the prisoners back to their families. It was all about the money nothing else.
Well, you definitely made up the one about Christians, pagans, and Mongols fighting in Russia. Whilst the Mongols were not Christian, both the Teutonic Knights and the Russians were. The Knights were Roman Catholic and the Russians were Eastern Orthodox.
But if everyone knows that William Wallace isn’t brave heart then why does everyone keep referring to the movie when they talk about brave heart??? Robert the Bruce is actually brave heart.
