This is almost certainly my 90s nostalgia mostly talking, but I feel like OoT's Phantom Ganon was by far the creepiest. Just imagine/remember what this moment was like when you're a kid. You've probably spent at least the last hour just seeing what Ganon has wrought on future Hyrule, knowing that it's because he managed to get the drop on you in the past. You've also been making your way through this haunted af Forest Dungeon populated by ghosts, werewolves, and wall crawlers. And then at the very end you come to this boss room, and out of nowhere the final boss is just in front of you. Except then he wreaths his face in spectral flames and is now wearing a mask with glowing eyes, whereupon he and his horse start floating up in the air and leep into a painting. As a little kid, there are few words to describe just how much of a "WTF is going on?!" moment that was
I find the surprise factor and design of TOTK much scarier, when i finally beat the hands for the first time the sudden health bar appearing and him just fading into existence caught me completely off guard
@@jayman5234 I'm willing to concede that one on the grounds that the Gloom Hands are pretty freaky.
