    An interesting video, but I am disappointed that you don't have a backdrop including books, helmets and a prominent sword. How am I meant to know that you are clever and interesting without them!

      Don't tempt us! We're planning an upgrade to our backdrop for the New Year, and it's a toss up between this and a green screen medieval tavern...

    I think the Norman Period will exist as long as there are so many words of Norman French origin in the English language.

    Was John not called 'Lackland' much earlier because of his lack of significant inheritance from Henry II, rather than the loss of Normandy in 1204? As I understand it the latter event is where his nickname 'Softsword' comes from.

      That's absolutely right Joe, poor John was called Lackland long before he lost Normandy. That defeat only further immortalised the nickname!
