The solution to that traffic is having the Bears, as part of the sale of the land, commit to some investment in public transit from the city to Arlington heights / to the park. Getting a metra line solution (maybe even a CTA line solution ala purple line) to run there would cut half of the fans from the city and the near western suburbs commute times in half and help with traffic congestion. Ideally, don’t put the landing on top of the expressway like the white Sox did, avoid all of the foot traffic biting you in the ass as cars leave the highway to only get stuck with pedestrians. Look at the experience of Wrigley and The Cell - the more people can commute not via car the more they’ll spend, drink, sleep, etc. Build the stadium for people and not parking lots / cars. Great show today!
L Guest. Kevin Warren is more than qualified and having an outsider come in is WELCOME. We’ve been doing everything inside for years and where has that gotten the bears. Also this guy talks about bears marketing but wants to stay in the city in an outdated field with few access points and poor public transit to the stadium. You want to market the bears better - put them in a stadium that can host multiple events throughout the year. Did this guy ever even hear of Tottenham 10+ years ago? Probably not. Wanna know why he does now? Cause they built a state of the art stadium. Love the Adams, Jon stinks.
I also didn’t like the guest, he seems way off on certain topics. He said baseball fields are used more than football and I guess by games yes but soldier fields host concerts and soccer games during the summer what else does Wrigley host?
@jon_greenberg: Justin Fields is the 3rd black QB to see significant playing time for the Bears, not the 2nd. The first was Vince Evans who they drafted in the late 1970's and stayed on the roster for 6 years until he left for the USFL in 1984. Vince had significant playing time as both a starter and reliever. His downfall was he threw more interceptions than TDs every season.
@jon_greenberg2: The idea of getting their own stadiums is not lost on Bears ownership. George Halas on many occasions tried to secure a new stadium to get out of Wrigley Field. Soldier Field was plan Z. Originally they tried for Dyke Stadium in Evanston, but the NFL shot that down. George Halas made overtures to purchase Arlington Park in the 1970's, and the McCaskeys had similar discussions after Arlington Park burned down in the 1980's. They struck out on both occasions. In the late 1980's, the Bears discussed a new stadium at McCormick Place that would've had a sliding retractable roof, but that plan fell through. The Bears fully understand the implications and importance of having their own stadium. They just haven't been successful at negotiating to get a deal done.
The "its a family owned team" thing always killed me. It's like the Halas/McCaskey family just had no idea business loans exist. It is what it is, backwards management.
As a Bears fan, we don't really know, we don't really care, just be a great president and keep this team focused in the right direction because we fans love our quarterback, Justin Fields, and we love our team… And that's what matters… And is long as we keep getting the right people in the right direction. I believe this team will be going in the right direction. 😀👍🏼🙏
Ya know, these older heads like Greenberg in the sports media industry give off an ego that I will never understand. It's almost as if talking about the teams they cover and making appearances on shows is a complete burden to them. Zero professionalism and lack of appreciation for the job that they have. You talk about sports for a living, get over yourself.
Please don't have Greenberg on. It's not just that I disagree with most of his points, its that are unfounded and boring. I came away from this episode really disappointed that I listened which I can't say I remember happening previously.
Them making more money has nothing to do with product on the field. This isn't baseball. There is a minimum and cap on spending unlike baseball. If they had more money than God they still would have crappy talent on field past 10 years.
@@brianwhite2075 Teams can prorate signing bonuses and spend "Cash over Cap" to land big free agents. So, you're correct in fact, but in practice things get fuzzy.
Stop with the ideas that the Bears should remain at Soldier Field. Do people even understand that Soldier Field is the smallest NFL stadium in the third-largest market. It makes zero sense to renovate the smallest field in the NFL again. You will never host a Superbowl in the NFL smallest Stadium. Unless the Bears can buy the land, tear the stadium down, and rebuild the whole thing they won't accept this proposal. And that would be so much more money than moving to Arlington Heights and just building a state-of-the-art stadium
@@spaceghost8995 because podcast like these keep bringing up the idea of staying. Of the notion maybe the cities just sells the bears soldier field. It makes zero sense.
@@jackcoolidge8123 yea and having 60,000 people going to the city of chicago is just great. Lol. Its hard to argue it could be worse? The only issue is see is for those who happen to live downtown. U dont own the stadium and have to threaten to leave to get upgrades. And btw im pretty sure the cities wants the bears to pay for the roof on a stadium it doesn't own. Lol. @@kylebenhart3929 you mean having 60,000 people drive into a city built for 3 million? Just because it’s designed poorly now doesn’t mean you throw out the idea of fixing it. Arlington heights is just not built for that capacity, this would be another short sighted move that would only benefit the owners. This move would make 290 a parking lot 8 or 9 sundays out of the year. If you double the population of town every home game, you can’t tell me it’ll be any better.

It’s like they had to invite their belligerent racist uncle to the show or something.
As a Chicagoan, crabby reporters like Greenberg, Biggs, etc. are really getting old. No need to praise anyone, but act professional, dude.
Pass on Greenberg. I don't have time for the tired view

Yeah but someone named Joe namath also threw more interceptions than touchdowns by a wide margin but he's in the hof gtfo
