Real talk. I remember when my Momma was the church’s MoM (minister of music) AND choir director. She MADE me and my two lil bros sing in the children’s choir. She would teach us a new song and say, “Tasha (made up name to protect the guilt), come over with me so I can teach you the lyrics and melody of your lead.” And whenever THIS happened, “No, I don’t want to sing in front with the mic!!). She would try one more time to convince them and would take the mic from them, tell them to go back to their section, THEN, motion for me to come get the mic. And because she kept rewinding the tape(yeah just dated myself), I already knew all three parts PLUS the solo. I can’t you how many times that happened. But what that “ram in the bush”store? The pastor wanted a bass player, so my Momma told my Daddy and he bought me one THAT NIGHT. I had no musical theory I would just play by ear. Once I was good enough, it earned me a spot off of the microphone.😂😂😂
