    The first ten minutes.
    In the beginning of this video we can see "Sergels-torg", a place where many demonstrations are heald, where you also can hear religious groups try to convert people and some conspiracy folk arguing for what they believe; near this square you can also see "Kulturhuset" that is a large building for art, music, theatre, history and culture.
    At 1:13 The red/white building to the right is Åhléns-huset, a large department store designed by “Backström & Reinius Arkitekter AB”, the building is taking up almost a whole city block.
    At 1:20 we are passing the subway station “T-Centralen '' where all subway lines come together and where you can switch over to the computer trains and the main train lines. It's a large underground system that now also includes a passage to a bussterminal.
    At 1:45 turning in on Drottninggatan, which is a long pedestrian street with many stores, but only for a very short bit before taking a detour down to Sergels-torg that's located under street level.
    At 5:40 The tower in the distance is Stockholm Stadshus (Stockholm City Hall) that is famous for the Nobel Prize Party.
    At 6:20 the camera entered the political center of Sweden, on the right side you can see Rosenbad, a building owned by the Swedish State and serves as the seat of the Government, in the video it is undergoing a renovation
    At 7:00 The white house to the left is called “Sagerska palatset” (Sager palace) and is the official residence of the prime minister of Sweden, the yellow house is the department of foreign affairs.
    At 7:45 entering Riksdagshuset, the parliament house
    At 8:52 Kungliga slottet, the Royal castle. The original color was thought to be yellow and there is still a debate if it shall go back to the original color.
    At 9:50 Entering Gamla Stan, the old city. Mostly a tourist trap with rather bad souvenir stores and fast food places, large parts of the old street level facades on this street have been modernised, so it often recommended to go up and explore the smaller side streets that have less stores but more history.

Something to be proud of, indeed. I have been there many times and never, ever get tired of it. It has so much to offer and for every taste. I can't wait to visit that city again.

    Thank you for recommending this video. I enjoyed it. Excellent videography. The uninterrupted video and street sounds with no commentary or editing provide an intimate tour of downtown Stockholm. Again I am stuck by the cleanliness of the city. Over the entire hour, despite considerable vehicular traffic, I only heard a car horn sound three short times at intersections where apparently a driver didn’t see the green light. And no police seen or sirens heard. (Nothing against police mind you, it’s just nice to see you do not need police spread out all over the city to keep it safe.) You have a beautiful city there and great people. I would like to visit someday. I hope you produce a new similar video during the Christmas holidays. It would be great to see. Tack så mycket!

      Sirke you are wrong. It is easy to say that in hindsight. To make better living konditions was very secondary. When they demolished The Klara Quarters they replaced a very historic part of the city consisting mainly of residential buildings with offices and shopping malls. The main intet was to modernise which back then meant replace beautiful and historic with cold and boring.

    HI DANIEL! Loved your walk here. Extremely busy city! Sorry it was so wet and drizzly.
    1:58 Loved seeing *Sergels Square* through your eyes. It is amazing, how you manage to capture your surroundings for us. Especially when you pan or walk with camera facing sideways and behind you. I love that and I am sure others do too.
    Your description was very educational as well. I didn't know about all the islands or bridges there. (Never noticed this).
    I had to look up: "archipelago" which means: Cluster of islands.
    6:52 I am guessing you are on the *Riksbron Bridge* where I enjoyed you panning this area so marvelously.
    11:24 Loved seeing inside the Storkyrkan Cathedral, mostly known as you mentioned: *Stockholm Cathedral*
    17:11 18:51 By the time we get to this point, I have seen many of these Concrete *LION STATUES* you walked by, not sure the meaning of them. They were not there when GOOGLE captured pictures of all these locations.
    I decided to see if I could find an answer about these lions. Found this:
    sptnkne.ws/ehYg
    17:09 *The Royal Palace*
    26:24 Crossing Strombron Bridge
    30:23 Loved seeing this LIVE ENTERTAINMENT, on this Drizzly cold evening. Beautiful park! 30:27 Great Music, Wow, huge ice skating rink in this lovely park by the concert at 31:04
    51:03 I got the biggest laugh, when the man to the left decided to clobber the guy next him in the stomach with his briefcase! I thought a fight was going to break out, however you passed by and we will never know...LOL
    55:26 The building at this scene has very unique huge planters hanging from it's balcony on 3rd & 4th Floor. Just lovely. I wonder if they are real plants.
    Your walk back was enjoyable as the city is calming down. However your camera picks up the evening so well.
    Thank you for this walk.
    Sincerely, Brigitte in Tulsa Oklahoma USA

    • @poptravelorg
      @poptravelorg  5 років тому +1

      Hello Brigitte! Thanks for this comment. I was watching this video again and am happy that viewers seem to enjoy it. The panning indeed got a bit better since the earlier videos - which there are still more coming. The audio with the 3 wind shields finally is also less "rumbly".
      After sunset the camera catches only little light. Some bigger sensors surely do better yet I'm happy with the portability that allows so many videos. Stockholm is fantastic during the summer with long days and lots of light - I'm still happy I saw it this time on a cold and wet fall/winter day.

    • @rogerpersson6273
      @rogerpersson6273 4 роки тому

      Hi Birgitte! Thank you so much for your excellent time-map! And thank you Daniel for your leg-work!
      Hope it is ok with a small clarification:
      28.13 Enter Karl XII:s torg ("Charles XII's Square")
      28.30 See a Cluster of old big elms behinde the statue of Karl Xll. "Battle of the elms" is a dramatic and important event in the history of modern Stockholm.
      More info here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elm_Conflict
      Perhaps the name "Almarna park" ("The Elms park" in english), therefore feels more modern and fitting but the correct name is Karl XII:s torg.
      29.20 Enter Kungsträdgården ("King's Garden"). One of the oldest parks and most popular hangouts in Stockholm. Colloquially called "Kungsan".
      33.30 Exit Kungsträdgården
      Sincerely, Roger in Stockholm

      slafito44 x yep weather sucks. Only good weather for like AT MOST 4 weeks a year. So the city really gets alive during times when weather is great as everyone will try to use the weather. However, I can’t wait to move down south in Europe, and get away from this horrible weather

    Nice walk and video. Here is a nice alternative to finish this walk. Go from Stureplan straight on to the Kings street with its two ancient towers. Then you can continue straight on and you pass the concert hall and the Haymarket. From there you have a quick walk down to Vasagatan and Central station 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️👍

    Nice video.
    I have a question at 5:12 . It looks like the lights of this store is warm white. But when you turned the camera to the store. The lights become white.
    So what was the real tone of the light?
    Is it warm white or just white?

    • @poptravelorg
      @poptravelorg  4 роки тому +2

      The eye adjusts for color temperature (color cast) on that cloudy evening different than a camera. The natural light in the street is getting "cooler" so the camera shows the "warmer" sunlight temperature as more orange. When I have only that shop-light in the frame the camera adjusts the whitebalance and cools it to a neutral white. You can learn more about "white balance" or "color balance" by googling or wikipedia as it is a common photography topic. To the human eye both lights appear mostly white as we adjust our perception much quicker and don't see the different color temperatures so distinctive as a image sensor

      @@poptravelorg Thank you so much for your reply.
      Yes. I understand a little bit about color temperature. But I'm curious to know about the real tone of that store light. You saw it with your own eyes.
      When you turned the camera to the shop. The camera made the light cool white. But you saw it with your eyes. Was it cool or warm white?
      Because I know the auto-balance on camera makes a cool white to a warm white.

    • @poptravelorg
      @poptravelorg  4 роки тому +1

      I think it appeared more warm and welcoming. There are a few more shops in that street that have "neutral white" - often from LEDs or energy efficient light bulbs which appear more cold. There are warm white lamps now also
