Looks good, thanks Troy, will definitely put this on my spare old laptop and give it a shot, currently on Arco for past 18 months and loving it!!! Great video as Always, Thank You
Cachy OS is by far the best Linux distro' I have yet tried.I love it.
I was impressed by Arco ,Endeavour and Garuda, but this is even better !
Just snappier and (so far)seems to be "Bomb proof" !
Cachy OS is my daily driver for gaming! I love it.
Please do a video on best gaming distro would like to see Garuda gaming dragonized vs Nobara and Cachy in terms of performance
In early May I am starting a 10-Video series about gaming on Linux. So hit the notification icon so you know when those videos come out.
thanks for showing that about using a different search engine. I LIKE the Whoogle- but "the Duck" gets more stuff like I want!! (and I did NOT know I could choose that way)
I have Cachy installed as a VM and keep running it occasionally. Very good distro.
I recently installed Cachy because of the enhanced performance tweaks. Garuda is still better out of the box for new users, but if you are familiar with Arch, you should be right at home with Cachy. I would place it in a similar Tier as Endeavour and Arcolinux in terms of ease of use. But you get the benefit of packages at are compiled with better performance enhancing flags.
Cachy installed fine in a virtual machine and the live image ran on my one laptop. Installation on my desktop machine actually failed. Not sure if really faster from a performance point of view. After initial installation, I was looking for something like a task manager which I could not find. Looks good otherwise, but I am super curious about actual performance. I ran Garuda and Fedora for months. Garuda gets weird issues down the line, including killing the kernel during and update. Currently on Big Linux which is quite nice. Still keen on giving Cachy another try.
Oh- on the app installer-- it SHOWS Flatpaks- but they are NOT installed unless you select it and ADD that first..
Thats interesting. When you pointed out with the Cachy browser that when you're typing a search that different search engines pop up to pick, I thought I'd see if it's the same in firefox. And it is - never noticed it before LOL
Cachy OS looks to be pretty similar to Manjaro in terms of looks and that welcome screen. Any idea if it's spin on Manjaro Troy?
Not a Manjaro spin. It's Arch with its own kernel and apps compiled with flags optimized for 64bit "newer" CPU's. Having said that my CPU is about 9 years old. And Cachy is snappy with it.
I have CACHY running on my 12 year old Optiplex 9010... and found out the reason it didn't work well on here before was it was set for LEGACY instead of UEFI-- so i changed it- and now it FLIES-- and works GREAT... I'm loving this Cachy... Simple install- FAST too- on the install even-- and runs GREAT.. changes are INSTANT. I click something and it's THERE-- no "thinking" about it!! ha. AND yes it's arch based-which I never ran before---and I do know some basic CLI stuff for it.. Maybe you can tell folks that if they have their computer set on LEGACY-- it won't work well... and if they CAN change it to UEFI--- it willl work GREAT for them!!
kde or gnome which is the better environment, thanks for your content.
You mentioned a few months ago you were planning a tutorial on how to install Davinci Resolve. is it still on your to-do list?
Looking to change from manjaro on old laptop i5 3rd gen , should i choose cachyos or garuda ?
Wanna daily driver for long run and that is stable and fast on old systems !
Thanks if someone can help me choose !
What is your distro and how can i install linux on my gaming laptop ❤
CachyOS is amazing. But if you check it out in a VM before installing it, do not go by that performance. Performance optimizations don't usually play nice with virtualization software. Garuda is another example where you shouldn't judge the distro's performance by how snappy it is in a VM.
So it is a custom kernel?
Kodachi is mind blowing...
I am building a server just for this OS...
AV Linux is just really smooth too...
yeaah > i use cachyOS 1year on my zotac-box mini and its preety fast & slable ...
Another Linux distro? Another learning experience....
Why couldn't they make it debian based , I'm tired of arch and their issues with their repos.
Its a Linux world now...
Apple is too restrictive and pricey...
Windows is too obtrusive and cumbersome...
hey ebuzz does this work on old hardware
Depends on how old. It was designed for "newer' 64-bit CPUs but the terms new and old are relative.
Fyi it ran fine on my 4th gen i7. I have a 10 minute vid using it if you wanna check it out.
always heard of this Distro and its about time i will try it out .....
