would you mind making a video and giving us some insight how you processed them? they sound amazing! so much better than completely synthesized. sounded like pitch down, delay, reverb to my ears. what an incredibly talented artist you are.
I second this !
Thanks for this clear explanation, we’re looking to purchase one of these contact mics for our soundscape recordings in a few months 🙌
Thanks Alex. Your style is informative and to the point. I enjoy your content. I now know I don't currently need a contact mic from what I just saw but also know what future applications that a contact mic may be appropriate for.
Thanks a lot once again, Alex! Very interesting to know :D
Great video, Alex. Thanks
Incredible!!!!
Good to know.
Hi Alex! Love your content, I would like to know about the
Lewitt LCT 040, you talked about them in your video about your gear. i would like to buy it for sound effects, foley and small rooms when there could be some reberb problems with long tubes. Thank you!!
I wish they'd make more! Soon! I don't check email often. I'll have to start checking just for this
Highly recommend it!!
Interesting...thx 🎼
Great video, thank you! What did you use additionally with the LOM Geofón to record the sound? I’m looking to record in 24 bit stereo tracks for a 7.1 surround sound for cinema , thank you so much
Very cool. I also noticed that this mic is made by the same company that makes the Electorsluch mics which I'm eagerly waiting for to get back in stock. If you happen to have one, I'd love to see a video on that!
Last batch sold out in 10 minutes - but I got one!
Alex, love all your videos. Do you have a video that would show me how to sync two lav mics with one video? I have tried in Final Cut, and am having problem after problem. Every video I find shows how to sync one lav mic with a video. Thanks and sorry off topic for this video.
Can u do a video on 3d audio or Dolby Atmos and how to set it up in Fairlight audio
If you want to buy a LOM Geophone but it´s always sold out. There is a new Manufacturer in Town that makes almost exactly the same Geofon.
I will soon Review it on my Channel.
hello, one question. used in contrast a contact microphone can function as a pressure transducer. I'll explain. if for example I go out from an out of a device such as a keyboard or synthesizer at the head of the microphone emits vibrations for example to make a spring vibrate? I was thinking about how a speaker can work as a microphone also in this case I can get similar results. thank you
Great question! I recorded the subharmonic component of the Saturn V launch in the movie First Man with a 12” JBL woofer at NASA JPL; louder sounds translate well to that kind of technique.
However, the energy you’d be running to a contact mic plugged into an output probably wouldn’t be enough to give you a useful result of any kind. Curious to try it with a hydrophone...
Wow. What a wonderful tool for recording b-roll audio. I want to run around attaching it to...my Segway MiniPro, a harmonium, cymbals, a friend's cello, and my throat when I sing for an hour in the studio in the early a.m. Tell us about the throat mics the guys wear in helicopters in old movies?
They’re REALLY interesting on electric motors. Have recorded a few electric cars and they’re crazy...but you’d never know without a contact mic! I bet your Segway would sound awesome.
Intriguing. I'm seeing some inexpensive contact mics on Amazon with positive reviews. BTW, loved your review of the Sony PCM-D50 handheld recorder. I bought a PCM-M10 and have been blow away by the clean, rich sound. Of course I'm an amateur, but I'm so grateful for your videos, from which I've learned so much. Nothing beats a real working pro who isn't just sitting at his desk with his hat turned backward churning affiliate links. Your video on getting good dialogue sound with iPhone was wonderful.
Or a tutorial on Fairlight audio
can you record dialogue with it? how does it sound in that case?
Good day, how good is it in rejecting ambient sound? Like, if you're talking (normal speaking voice) while recording the contact vibrations, how much of the sound of your voice gets muted? Thanks in advance
It doesn’t pick up any ambient sound! Contact mics only capture the sounds vibrating through the objects they’re touching, so there’s no noise from anything else.
This mic would be awesome for ghost hunting trying to catch subtle noises and electronic voice phenomenon.
It occurs to me this would be good for getting some Expanse style EVA sound effects
It’s almost like that’s how it was done... 😈
@@axk that's awesome! I was unaware, but it makes perfect sense. Is there some bts stuff of how they went about that? I'm in prepro for a space based web series, and wanted to do some foley like that.
That is quite brilliant, while I don't have a Geofon I do have a simple contact mic so with a little trial and error it may still work
LOM have had a lot of publicity lately but they can't keep up with demand! They sell out of their mics within a day of releasing them
It’s well deserved! Jonas and Lom make really cool stuff. Just wish they made MORE, haha.
@@axk well let’s hope that the demand means they can hire more people! It’s great that a small independent business from Eastern Europe is making waves. They need to jump on the well deserved hype train!
Where in US can I find this mic?
You have to order it from Lom directly, and they’ll ship it to you. The trick is knowing when they’re in stock…
So, you wouldn't recommend this mic for a Zoom H1n, right...? : p
what's the giant spring device you showed?
That’s a Pilates reformer, haha
@@axk 😂😂 i was thinking some kind of fancy reverb tank haha
Coming soon: Reformerverb!!
@@axk 😂😂😂
This would be useful in the oil exploration industry. Oil exploration companies use a thumper machine to hit the ground and then listen to the response on an oscilloscope. This helps geologists determine whether a particular rock formation could possibly contain oil. This microphone could be useful in picking up the feedback sound from the thump and feeding it to an oscilloscope.
You do realize they would look at this microphone, laugh about it and then stick their tens of thousands dollar worth of tested and calibrated equipment into the ground?
sold out :(
Potato sent me
Hey, me too!!
