I watched a couple of teen comedies of the late 70’s-80’s (Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, etc) recently and Rock ‘n’ Roll High School by far has aged the best. The jokes all still work and the energy/spirit still resonate after all these years.
"rock 'n' roll high school forever" is actually the name of the sequel from 1990. I don't recommend it very highly. Corey Feldman, musical feature by Mojo Nixon, Miss Togar is back (but now she's called principal Vader for some reason), but I remember it being lame.
Underrated opening sequence. It's a great song that fits the scene like a glove, the energy is palpable, and it sets the tone perfectly. And it's The Ramones. Perfection. How can you watch this movie and not beam from ear-to-ear?
LoL, great movie! I was in high school when this movie came out. If my facts are correct the movie was released in 1979 but actually set in 1980...the year I graduated. Disco was waning, Aerosmith ruled and Van Halen was rising. As for the Ramones, only the surfers (I'm from the west coast) listened to them along with the Dead Kennedys, B-52s and such. Being more in the mainstream we didn't quite know what to make of it...couple years later in college and what not, we were all into it! Good times!
Why do I think I am the only one who actually bought a ticket , stayed out on a Thursday night to see this on it's first release? Was still jazzed the next day at school!
no disrespect to riff randall and kate rambeau, but the kid with the glasses & brown wide collared shirt at 0:38 is the real star of the film. (honorable mention: yellow shirt kid at 0:23)
I wish my school was like this. Sadly enough, no one in my school has heard about the Ramones (let alone anyother musicians featured) except for me. All well I'll party by myself then!
One of the great rocking movie openings along with "Easy Rider" (1969), "Apocalypse Now" (1979), "Phantom Of The Paradise" (1974), "High School Confidential" (1958), "Midnight Cowboy" (1969), "Grease" (1978), "The Wanderers" (1979), "A Hard Day's Night" (1964), "Help" (1965), "The Devil Wears Prada" (2006), "Saturday Night Fever" (1977), "Dawn Of The Dead" (2004) et al.
This was all i kept thinking of when I saw the opening song for Baby Driver. Just start off with a killer song and a whole lot of "out of control" that goes down in film history.

And THIS is how High School should start. With an insane rock dance party. To The Ramones.
this
This should be held on every first day of school! Rock and Roll Forever!! 🤟🤘🤘🤘🤘

I can't believe the Ramones are all gone now.
Saw them twice and I'll never forget how Joey threw the microphone at Johnny when they left stage.
RIP Roger Corman.
OMG !!! This is the best movie EVER !!!
I wish I was enrolled at Rock n Roll High School when I was a kid.
Greatest punk song ever written.
Good rock and roll movie to watch during the quarantine!
I hear it's raining cats and dogs in Idaho
The principal in real life is a pioneer of punk rock she got her start as a whip and fetish dancer for the Velvet Underground.
She played Mike Muir's mum in Suicidal Tendencies' "Institutionalized" video too.

When he laces his fingers on his head is one of my favourite dance moves ever.

Ten years later.... Gage Creed would get run over by a semi-truck because of this shameless abondon of decency!!!! It breaks my heart!
oh, I loved Riff...but I secretly liked the nerdy best friend better.
Good film for rocker
3:31 Tom Roberts = Johnny "Cobra Kai" Lawrence!
Not the villain in this movie. XD

ive always wanyted to punch those hall monitors ahah
But P.J Soles owns all :)
The students might not want to party too hard if they saw what Paul Bartel and Mary Warinov did to the swingers in Eating Raoul.
Raise your hand if you know what a turntable is.
