Very good review - seems like a very high maintenance unit and not worth the trouble. Given the price - you would expect a lot less hassle. Probably better to get a simple extractor fan with humistat.
I’ve fitted one of these , I’ve also fitted filters in the housings, One at the end of the tubes and one in the hosing , No dust problems on the tubes Just wash them when maintaining . Why the manufacturers didn’t do this easy mod 🤔🤔🤔🤔
So what I understand is that you bought this product and had it installed on the understanding that you had asked all the relevant questions including, “Can I switch it on and off” ? “How easy is it to clean and maintain”?
Really basic questions that shouldn't need to be asked, I don't think most would - and they shouldn't need to. Better to be told stuff like this if its not what most would assume.
The unswitched fuse spur on your wall is a seperate issue to the vent, you can swap this for a switched one for under £5. Do you still use this vent or did it get replaced in the end?
I really regret getting one of these. Ours is really quite noisy, way above the dB in the spec. When I called to complain about how noisy it is they fobbed me off saying it's because I installed in the corner of the room. Where else are you going to put a bit ugly thing like this?!
Thanks Daniel, This is some important extra information! Did you find some filters that would fit? Also: Is it possible to bypass the heath exchanger in the summer to import cool air from outside without warming it with air from inside? Would removing the inner heat exchanger do that?
depends on the time of year, these are supposed to recover lost heat e.g. winter whilst getting rid of condensation - they run 247 though and not just during bathroom use e.g. shower, not cheap either.
thats not ideal to do especially in winter i have to do it with my standard extractor fan and it takes forever to air the room. i am however going for an envirovent extractor fan because they are better than standard extractor fans by far ive seen them in rental properties had many people saying how good they are although this product here is a heat exchanger its not really an extractor fan exactly its a hybrid.
@@DanielJohnHowTo I'm not advocating that you have your windows open while your central heating is on but if you are home during the day and the heating is off then open your windows to let the warm, moist air out and fresh, clean air in and you will not have any 'damp' or condensation problems. It's the same as your car at this time of year. Within a few minutes your car gets steamed up so you put the heater on to clear the windscreen and crank the side windows to let it out. No Enviroment system needed for your car or your house either just sensible management of both.
@@TotoGuy-Original It is especially ideal to do it in winter as the lower air temperatures can not hold moisture in the air leading to condensation problems and black spot mould. However, if you want to sit watching the TV in December while wearing a T shirt and shorts and not airing your property then the Enviroment System is ideal for you at a coat of around £1200 plus running costs.
@@stephengunner3047 you are so far wrong, you forgot about hot water or do you expect people to have cold showers? extractor fan always going when having a shower or bath (shower causes the worst problems) window wide open yet what a surprise when done the whole window tiles and mirror all steamed up!!! and still, the window has to be left open at least 3 hours afterwards to air the room in colder months. thats how wrong you are! i wouldnt buy this unit in this video as clearly it doesn't do what id need it to. But i am and have just bought their extractor fan for about 10% of the cost of this unit. thats going to help me. how much? who knows but its certainly better than your standard extractor fans. I know people who have envirovent extractor fans my brother is one he has one in an extension in a bathroom (which is the worst kind of bathroom for condensation and mould) and not one single bit of mould ever in there and I know others in local authority properties that say they are much better than a standard extractor fan. so yes im prepared to pay 5 times the cost for an environment extractor fan because I know it will improve the situation over your run of the mill standard extractor fans. i actually have a positive pressure air system in my house which is great which keeps mould and condensation at bay in most of the house only the bathroom is the only place I have issues mainly because the bathroom is the room furthest away from the system which is understandable and the fact that bathrooms get full of moisture.

I bought a cushion from the pound shop and took the filling out and put it in the pipe that is outside and it works.

We don't live in that house anymore so no idea.

Pretty much, the company isn't interested.

Would removing the inner heat exchanger do that?
The filter is removable and you can just wash it, probably would do but if heat is an issue perhaps open a window.
Thank you
Buy the thin layer filter what they use in CPAP/breathing machines.
Great idea, in theory, anyone know of any similar units, perhaps with an inbuilt filter!
A bit disappointed Envirovent aren't on here defending their product (or are they). Also lack of easy clean and filters is putting me off these.
I made this video quite a while ago, surprises me also. Don't bother with xpelair either in my experience.
@@DanielJohnHowTo How about Blauberg? Their product is a lot more expensive for what it is
so if someone went outside up a stepladder and farted in it you would get it in the bathroom
possibly
You don't need one of these, you just need to open your windows from time to time and it will do the same thing without any noise or maintenance
