thanks so much for this! grew up riding blue mountain through grade school. 15 years later and finally hit camel back for the first time! blue is definitely my preferred mountain in the area

I grew up in that area and went skiing there for many winters. I knew about the path and the old train tracks. Back in 1982/83, me and a couple of friends were down at that creek (Pocono Creek) which sat behind the condos along Camelback Rd and we hiked up the mountain where there was/is an old abandoned ski trail. There’s a pump house at the bottom where the trail ends and meets the creek.
We hiked up and walked along the old train tracks until we wound up on one of the ski trails and then walked down the trail and into Camelback. It was the summer and back then they used to have grass skiing.
I didn’t know about the old truck. Very interesting.
There used to be an old tow pull mechanism near Cobble Creek Estates just off Sullivan Trail adjacent to Camelback. Not sure if it’s still there.
    I haven’t lived there since 2010.
    Great video and neat find!

I grew up in Easton and skied at Camelback 75 times a year while I was in high school in the late seventies and early eighties with my friends. I didn't know that history. When was this video shot? Sadly, it's February 1 and there's so little snow! Thanks for the history of the mountain.

I've been to Highmount in the summer. One day I'd like to ski it from Belleayre when there's snow.

@@averyzucco220 if you're ever wondering it's off the trail deer run. You can usually see some footsteps and the abandoned top of the lift but just make sure there's no patrol and it may be a little overgrown but it's very fun. Always powder stashes there

It was the 50s. Less things to have to spend money on. The owners must have had the right idea since their next try became Camelback.
