When we dig foundations, we always recommend backfilling with stone to the top, with drains in the bottom, because dirt against the block will exactly swell with moisture and that’s how basements collapse. Idk if you can use that information on an underground hideout made of wood. It would need to be perfectly sealed around the walls

Yeah, seemed to me even before you had flooding that the walls were not strong enough when main supports just sit on the dirt. They need to be either concreted in or even better just build a proper wooden floor and have that all connected up to all the supports. You might like to dig some deep holes before you add the floor in so any water can run down in there instead. This could also function as a backup water supply - just filter it and maybe boil it also. You make small covers over each sink hole you make to access it when you need it...

My first bunker was a 12' x 12' room with a hatch. The Roof was held up by a 6" x 12" beam and other boards. The Night we first slept in the room it rained and my friend woke me up and said hey, we have to get out of here, it flooding in here! Later on the whole hole filled with water. The second bunker I played it smart. I dug 87 feet of corridors with two rooms. I had two exit and the cave corridors kept the water from filling. The floor was one giant bedrock. the roof was made from 12" diameter trees and then some smaller trees going the other direction. I had a stove, and periscope, ventilation and no water built up in this bunker. But then the owner of the entire forest had companies plow the whole forest and made way for houses to sell to people. The bunker was destroyed too. Then the third bunker was started but then my friends chose not to build a bunker and I was digging it all myself I guess. But then one day, I came back to do some more digging, and found that my pickaxe, and shovel was throne down a steep hill. I didn't bother to go down to get it back. I knew at that point that the friends backed out. I still don't know why they changed their minds?

Love how young Holden says the mud is concrete and cannot lift it. And you then proceed to shovel about 1000 lbs of the stuff.
Hey Kev, why don't you show us how you built your bunker roof?
That will be awesome, huh.
Love the builds but the weed eater attachment is good until they break and send shrapnel into your shin sending you to the er... there is reasons you cant find metal ones in the u.s.
Just gotta use the with proper PPE. Like my chainsaw pants. That's probably why they don't sell lawn darts anymore, no more common sense.
If i had acess to a bunker like this , properly ventilated, acess to fire and washing capabilities i would genuinely live in one
Le plus grand ABRI SOUTERRAIN de la MAISON, un radeau de planches et un beau sol. Partie 8
Alex Wild
The spider hole is looking great again Kevin. But, where is Don?
You make some of the coolest stuff. Keep it coming
Morning Kev!
Good Morning!
Good Morning!
I wonder what would happen if it rains, would the water build up under the floor board as it's hollow under there?
Temu… alright I’m done here
I have wondered when you would get bac to this project.
It's no longer a Spider hole, but a Tarantula hole
can you make a video from a drone showing whole of your property in a frame??
spent 80% of this video thinking "he should excavate a pool, and build this inside of it". People want pools ripped out all the time, and that's basically a giant waterproof tub that you could build inside. Just kick that around your noggin.
You really listened to what we said. This is another reason why I watch you. Full Stop
It’s looking good brother. I think I will pass on this one!
A lot of work for a radon box.
❤ that you never give up xx❤ never give up
Temu is amazing! Can’t beat the prices and the quality is high! Oh, and for those that wanna knock China - news flash: China is ahead of the game, and pretty much makes most things you all have in your home. 😊
I mean it's basically dollar store direct from manufacturer. Cheap tat but some good picks if you know how to assess reviews and go for components rather than completed electronics.
this is just a bunch of lies man
so those socket adapters are like the 10m socket which always manages to disappear? lol
Sounds like it times to dog another hole.
Maybe you could make the side of the pit that blew out Maybe two feet bigger
Great video
I don't know if I've asked before or it's already been answered but what is that thing on your arm?
Holds the tendons in place.
Could trow some concrete down there to make it bullet proof
Your description says you live in an area where off-grinding is easy. 🙂
the dead give away that Grant just came for fun is the flip flops for sure
Is that the little boy who you were giving sled rides in the original cabin build video?
Yes
Great job kevin, hope to see don on the next video
Soak your weed eater string in water for 24 hours and it won’t fray… it will last longer when it’s less brittle
For this to be completely safe, I'm picturing a build like Colin Furze did.
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
It looks like curse of oak island
I don't know how to feel about staying up until 4:00 a.m. watching the chronicles of a man's fight against nature over his hole.
I appreciate your sacrifice.
@@ModernSelfReliance I just found your channel and I had to finish the spider hole series, love the work. I've always waned to do something like this but I live in florida so I'm very limited by the water table. I can't wait to watch more of your stuff and fufill my tunneling hopes vicariously through your videos. lol
Oh no. Do you actually use temu for purchases. If so I understand. If not why would you put thier name on this quality channel??? Lol just curious genuinely.
