    If you're like me & you've bought a new HDD and want to check it *is* brand new and unused, skip to step 3 or step 5.
    Also, thanks dude, great video; super clear and to the point! I've just ordered a new 5TB HDD from Amazon, but Amazon are notorious for selling returned/used items. If a HDD has been formatted, will these softwares still show me how much it has been used/turned on etc?

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  2 роки тому +3

      Thank you! Yes, if your HDD is formatted, the info will still show up. So if your HDD has been used for 100 hours, drive then formatted, then used for another 100 hours, it will show up as 200 hours usage. It will also keep track of the number of times it's been powered on, formatted or not.

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  2 роки тому +1

      I would say they are about as good as each other. If I were to use just one I'd probably choose CrystalDiskInfo as it is a little more user friendly.

And thanks for reminding us to check our hard drives on a regular basis because I haven't done it in quite a while. I do back up though, just to be sure to be sure. :) I love the pace of your videos and the fact that there is no thumping bass in the background and you speak calmly and clearly. Thank you for the info. I was searching for items that would help with this issue. I think my laptop HD is failing, so backing it up will be step number one! I figure that any method of isolating bad sectors will corrupt the OS.
    BTW, It appears that someone has just taken your specific 5 methods and shuffled them around a bit to create a "
    5 Methods to Check your Hard Drive Health in Windows 10 | Know about Bad Sector" video (uploaded 3 March, 2020). They even use the same two third-party tools as examples. That jumped out at me as, per my searching, i know there are other third-party tools they could have shown. Not much can be done about it, I'm sure. Just though you should know..

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  4 роки тому +1

      That could be true - a restart can solve a lot of problems. If your hard drive is ok and the errors continue, the problem might be caused by something else. But if you get no more errors then perhaps the problem has gone away.

      You could try starting up your computer in safe mode. If your computer stays on, then try running any of the hard drive tests to see if it's a hard drive problem. A computer restarting could be caused by many different things, but booting up into safe mode would be a good place to start.

    Hello, Sir.
    Great video...
    May I ask something?
    Normally, how long is the life span of WD internal HDD 512GB which being used in Asus X453M?
    I have been using it from 2015 till now.
    I have checked the disk using the steps you tell in this video.. and everything is ok..
    I consider to change from Asus to Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3i 14IAU7 Intel i3 1215U and use the old disk from Asus to be the addition storage.. Is it ok? Can you give an opinion for this case?
    Thank you..

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  2 місяці тому +1

      A Western Digital HDD will typically last for about 5 years if it's used as the main 'C' drive, though this will vary depending on how much it has been used and various other factors. But a WD HDD that is not the main drive (perhaps the 'D' drive for example) will typically last for around 10 years. Again, these are just rough estimates. Some will tell you how their WD drive has lasted 15+ years and is still going strong.
      I think it's a good idea for you to use your WD drive for additional storage, but check its health now and then with one of the tools that I have shown in the video such as "CrystalDiskInfo".

      At that point (9% health left) it's time to back up your data onto another drive in case it fails, especially as Crystal Disk is showing a caution as well. If you know your drive's manufacturer, it might be worth downloading the software for your drive to see if it has any extra information for you and/or backup tools you might like to use.

    Everything I’ve tried says my hard drive is good, but it keeps getting blue screen of death, and each one is different. I’m very confused. Can anyone help me out?

      search in google the error message which shows up each time you get a blue screen, that way you should know what failed and caused the famous screen of death

    Great video! It’s very informative. This video solved my inquiry on how to check health on drives. I think everyone is correct on about your voice. It’s very soothing and easy to follow along with instructional steps. If you were to say “now take off your pants” I undoubtedly would have followed through with that step.

    Nice video 👍 Do you have a tutorial for an external HDD recovery? I mean, my disk died (the "needle piece" that reads the disk won't work) and I just want to recover my videos and photos.
