It's the simple things that make your skills outstanding, heating the tank before applying decals, pure genius. I have wasted hours with fan heaters, but it did warm my garage up! Great work as always.
Thanks mate, minimum temperature for most decals is at last 15c, but anything yp to 30, the warmer the better! It doesn't just help the glue to stick, but also means there's a bit of stretch in the decal which is helpful on a curved surface!! Appreciate your kind words, have a great New Year!
I am really liking that scrambler, It just looks like it wants to rip it up old school style, its gonna look, sound and ride great, you have done a fantastic job, i love the Harley bit now im looking at Triumph with new eyes

Amazing what a difference a few subtle , well chosen changes can make. It looks like a whole new bike. The decal install took me back to installing the tablecloth-sized decals on the gasoline tank trucks. Quite a challenge especially in the wintertime. Could be quite a comedy of errors at times.😁 On your side of the ocean they are deck-els, while on this side they are dee-cals. Your way makes more sense. I had a challenging dealing with K-9 decals put on my car… I put on , then let the sun heat up the windows, press on with silicone scraper… works great… did lots eyeballing than taping… using heat gun works inside very same thing. The seat is a plus!!! It’s what I need !! Short legged guy able get feet on ground… Lol … the bike really looks awesome!!!

The beauty of applying tank decals is that unless someone has eyeballs like a chameleon (mounted in independently rotating turrets on each side of their head), they'll never be able to notice if there's a millimeter or two difference from side to side.

Good luck with it Sir, as long as you clean the surface with a spirit wipe to remove all the wax and grease and warm it up above 60F and warm the rubber up so it's a bit more flexible! Have fun with it and good luck!
The seat looks great. The only thing I don’t like is you can see the frame. I’ve been looking at a couple of the motone seat for my T100. The bike really turned out awesome
I've been looking at a couple seats for my ST900 and I've noticed that not only can you see the frame (which doesn't bother me) but you can also see the gap between the side covers and the frame where the tape wrapped wiring loom can easily be seem which does not look good to me. The skirt of the stock seat covers that gap.

Top job as always Dell...making me re-think my "Black is Best" policy to most of my bikes over the years..including the the current T100 Bonnie!! I keep flirting with the idea of changing for a street scrambler fo the extra height for my 6'2" frame, and like the new Gloss Grey. Beleive it or not, I prefer the 900 scrambler to the 1200....the 1200 seemed not as good at being a tall bike as my 800 Tiger, and not as good at being a Bonnie as my 2015 T100..and more exepnsive than keeping both of them!! Good to see you still in good health sir...look after yourself and Ms Pitstop, and keep up the good work. All the best, Mark

I love the 1200 Scrambler myself, for me it's the perfect combination of a big tall street bike, but with a bit of classic styling. I just installed new HD 2022 shield tank emblems. Was interesting how they don't align with any body line on the bike. They look goofy compared to the screaming eagles emblem on the air cleaner

Is that how they say decal in England? Deckle? : ) I just did some decals on my 64 Triumph 650. They were the water slide kind, which can be tricky. Sometimes perfectly level to the ground won't look right, depending on the tank and the bike. My bike doesn't have a side stand, so it's either running and riding or on the center stand...which meant I had to take that into account when doing the decals. In the end I took a piece of masking tape that was roughly the size and length of the decal and placed it on the bike. Then I'd look at it from every possible angle and adjust. Then once it felt right, I put tape under it and above it and removed the original piece to make room for the decal.
Sure thing, leg reach is exactly the same as before but the bike's now gained more lean angle before it grounds the under carriage! Happy New Year to you too!

Putting the "Triumph" decal`s on a tank is a bit daunting, and definitely takes a steady hand. I`m not a great fan of the "ribbed" style seats, but, with the loss of nearly 2" in width, it`s much easier to get your legs straighter, meaning better stability when stationary and feet down at junctions etc. It`s really starting to look good, are you going for knobbly tyres, or a more road focused semi block tread pattern?. Thanks Neil, good to hear from you mate.. Yes the seat serves to give a bit more padding for longer rides, and at the same time the width reduction makes it safe for leg reach. !! Not going for Knobblies, this bike hardly even sees rain let along mud, and we don't believe in pure form over function... the tyres we've chosen are a great choice and will look great, specially as the back is a 180 now..! Thanks Eamon, The decals won't "peel off", they're made for outdoor vehicle use, like decals on the side of a work van they last for years and years, you don't see those peeling off, in fact after many years they actually become very difficult to get off !
Hi mate, I didn't post a link, perhaps should have done, we got them from Sporty40 online, about a tenner with the postage and they sent us a spare or two!
Eyeball the centre line, then it gives you a perfect orientation to eyeball the sideways line, where the two tapes cross you can spot if it isn't square immediately, then you get the down tape on the sides perfectly symmetrical and you can take the template for the decal from that.

Putting the "Triumph" decal`s on a tank is a bit daunting, and definitely takes a steady hand. I`m not a great fan of the "ribbed" style seats, but, with the loss of nearly 2" in width, it`s much easier to get your legs straighter, meaning better stability when stationary and feet down at junctions etc.
It`s really starting to look good, are you going for knobbly tyres, or a more road focused semi block tread pattern?.

Thanks Neil, good to hear from you mate.. Yes the seat serves to give a bit more padding for longer rides, and at the same time the width reduction makes it safe for leg reach. !! Not going for Knobblies, this bike hardly even sees rain let along mud, and we don't believe in pure form over function... the tyres we've chosen are a great choice and will look great, specially as the back is a 180 now..! Stunning! Do the decals require a coat of lacquer to ensure they don’t peel off later?
Thanks Eamon, The decals won't "peel off", they're made for outdoor vehicle use, like decals on the side of a work van they last for years and years, you don't see those peeling off, in fact after many years they actually become very difficult to get off !

It's your choice, not compulsory, buy good quality vinyls and they stay put either way.

Why did you put a stripe on top of the tank? Did you measure own each side of that line?
Eyeball the centre line, then it gives you a perfect orientation to eyeball the sideways line, where the two tapes cross you can spot if it isn't square immediately, then you get the down tape on the sides perfectly symmetrical and you can take the template for the decal from that.
