R I P ANGUS SCRIMM .PHANTASM SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME AS A CHILD AT THE DRIVE-IN IN WAYNE MICH.
Good job! My x hubby was star of the Phantasms, Reggie Bannister. You did a great job and really like the other things you have done as well, including the haunted house! Lots of fun and you're great!
wow! reggie always seemed like a really cool guy! i loved his song too
That's pretty cool. He had a great character and played it well.
Burnt Offerings was filmed here in 1976.
Monroville no, i think the inside is actually shot in a warehouse modeled to look like a mortuary
I was referring to BURNT OFFERINGS, which I believe was filmed inside of the mansion. Now PHANTASM.. yeah, I always figured it was a set or different location, as it never seemed any of it could fit inside the house, short of being something "under" the house.
Monroville
It IS the interior.
Although, if you Google Dunsmuir Mansion, it appears that they may have ruined the interior. It's a function hall now.
The window that mike breaks into is actually the wind into the embalming room at the forest lawn mortuary in long beach. He then breaks into the casket display room that is next to the embalming room. I served my embalming apprenticeship there in 2000-2002. It actually hadn't changed much since movie had been filmed there. It was such a proud bragging right of the Vice President of the mortuary. Also the funeral of the friend that'd committed suicide was at the chapel there as well, and a cemetery shot at the end of the movie.
they also used this house in burnt offerings I love this mansion it is really beautiful
Rest in peace Betty Davis, Oliver Reed and Karen Black.
Mrs. Allardyce is waiting for you........to be a part of her.....collection!
I think you did a great job thanks for doing this for all us phantasm fans
Thanks, I wanted to be thorough as its one of my favorite horror film locations. It deserves the attention =)
Thanks for this video. Phantasm was a very underrated and not well known film compared to big blockbusters like Halloween and Nightmare On Elm Street, but I find that Phantasm was much more scary, serious, and intense.
The creepy little gazebo/ house that is fenced off is the pool and pool house that you can see in Burnt Offerings. In the movie it looks a lot closer.
That was a great tour, thanks for hiking up there to show this...I have all the Phantasm movies, love this mansion.
Excellent Tour! Im a huge fan of the phantasm films. f.y.i. they also filmed a movie called "burnt offerings" there. another creepy movie. they shot the majority of the movie inside the home. so it gives you a great perspective. latr!
@@laustcawz2089 It's hilarious your responding to my 7 year old comment. Lol Hreat movie, though...on both counts.
@@laustcawz2089 Karen Black scared the daylights outta me in the end of that movie lol
Awesome video..This Mansion was used in " A View to a Kill "and " Burnt Offerings"
I love the Phantasm movies also..Great job the tour was wonderful..Thanks
That broken down creepy building off to the side is the swimming pool from Burnt Offerings.
You should do a new video on that movie and show us the rest.
When you went next to the window, I'm surprised you weren't attacked by the phantasm dwarfs.
Phantasm is one of mine favourite films also. Thanks for posting the video!
Great tour and info!
I'm a HUGE phan of the Phantasm films, esp the original.
Thx for uploading this.
Phantasm is my favorite horror movie! Thanks so much for sharing. This was awesome.
cool!!! I lived with the music writer Malcom Seagrave in Carmel right after he returned from LA after recording the soundtrack. It was his first movie and introduction made possible of Fred Myrow, the main musical writer who got sick and was hospitalized during all the recording so I'm not sure how much of the writing was done by Fred. The greatest joy for me was attending the first showing in downtown Monterey sitting next to Malcom, both of us blazingly stoned...then the music starts (he played all the keyboard parts, all on a Yamaha CS-80...maybe...unsure, but it had those colored flip switches) and he could hardly keep still. He had perfect pitch and I knew that anything out of tune bothered him immensely AND during the movie he reached over and whispered that everything was flat...then he said "but it doesn't bother me!"...riding high baby!! thanks for posting this, cool!!!
Absolutely Brilliant, Columbia. My favorite horror movie of all time. Thanks for this!
Thank you so much for the memories! I loved that you began right at the public entrance and went down that long entrance walk with that stunning "first moment" view of the mansion at the bridge. I ran down that walk back in 1983, breathless to see the place for the first time, during a private tour the staff held for just me and my mom. I'll never forget the awe I felt crossing that bridge and beholding Dunsmuir in all its pristine glory! It's HUGE in real life! Also loved seeing you in Stanford cap and jacket--I spent many weekends during my schooling there up at Dunsmuir! There is even a brick by the arbortorium with my name on it (when Dunsmuir was doing more rebuilding/upkeep of the grounds. We almost got Dunsmuir back for 'Phantasm IV" (I travelled up there in September 1997 to videotape the porch for preproduction talks). Thank you again. :)
I would b too afraid to live there. It's too isolated for me, and it's such a long way up, with a lot of trees. Seriously spooky, even during the day. I can see why Don Coscarelli, chose this area & the house.
RIP "Tallman." ur dedication to the franchise, made this & the sequels a watchable scary & fun filled ride, from beginning 2 end🕊☮😃😰
The funeral is about to begin...SIR!
Great movie, it was so well done.
I still remember the first time i saw it.
Thanks for sharing!
I really appreciate u showing us the legendary iconic Phantasm house. Im such a huge fan. Thanks man #PHANTASM
Thank you for this look at the filming location of Phantasm, It's interesting to know that this building still resides in Oakland, California and stands beside the iconic film Phantasm.
im 27 yrs old an I grew up on these kinda horror movies thanks to my father , but as smart as I am about scary movies I never new they played a part in my city Oakland,ca 510 . its a trip to find out later on how things like this was an is so close to home . thanks for the vid upload man
Go break the basement window out and go inside!!! Watch out for the Jawas!
Angus Scrimm's tall man was the original slender man :)
I love that movie. When I was a kid I wanted to work in a mortuary and this movie had me locked. Now as an adult I manage a funeral home in SLO county.
I like ...very cool.......*also the house from Burnt Offerings ......another scary movie
Thanks again for posting the Phantasm Manor. I saved a few shots for when I start painting this. :)
When you walk around the house all I can think of is Burnt Offerings. Probably because I seen it before Phantasm.
7:53 is the old pool. They used it in Burnt Offerings. It wouldn't surprise me if it was in a state of irrevocable disrepair given that in Google Maps it looks derelict as hell.
I met Karen Black she was a real classy lady she was also down to earth in fan fair in toronto Canada several years ago great actress period
good video man! glad I got to see it. I was watching phantasm stuff as I am a big fan, and came across your video. was cool seeing it since I live on the east coast and would probably never be able to see it in person. good job!
It wouldnt be Phantasm without Angus Scrimm
So you obviously posted this several years ago. But some info for you. Years ago (like 25) my friends and I would go into the huge city underground water drainage system. We would enter in an opening in San Leandro and could get onto the grounds of the Dunsmuir property. So obviously we could go anytime we wanted to. needless to say being able to get onto the grounds when no one else was around was pretty cool. we never caused any damage or anything like that but we certainly looked around anywhere we wanted to. so just an FYI if you look into it I'm sure you can find a way to get onto the grounds through the drainage system. we'd just to go at night and scare the hell out of each other, it was a lot of fun. LOL Happy Hunting
Your so fortunate to have this Mansion so close to your home. In all honesty you should be a tour guide.
Chiming in from the legendary “2020”!! It was great to see this tour!!
Great job commentating. I love this movie and you did the location well !!
Holy crap--I remember this house in A View to a Kill.
Horror film Burnt Offerings was also filmed there.
Beautiful mansion and awesome movie. Watched the remaster last night.
What's interesting, is before Phantasm even, Burnt Offerings was the 1st movie to be filmed here, in 1976, which is another awesome horror flick with Karen Black & Oliver Reed.
FreeRPGer and in 1984 last time Roger Moore 007 in A VIEW TO A KILL too as Bond Girl house
this was also location of 1976 movie burnt offerings wich also was a big hit with oliver reed bette davis and karen black
You should have mentioned the movie Burnt Offerings from 1976 was also filmed in that house too.
serious thanks for posting this.very cool.
I've always wanted to know the exact location to Morningside Mortuary used for Phantasm. Great sight and mansion. Love the series.
....Karen Black....Burgess Meridith.....Bette Davis .....Oliver Reed
........movie - 'Burnt Offerings'
...........this house was the center of that 1976 movie
I could see Phantasm and Burnt Offerings both being remade and i hope they use this house again if both movies get remade some day.
Tony Hounter.... This house was first time on film in 1976 BURNT OFFERINGS after 1979 in PHANTASM in 1985 JAMES BOND: A VIEW TO A KILL last time Sir Roger Moore as 007
MAN YOU REALLY TOOK THISSERIOUSLY, LOVE ALL THE FILMS. hOPE YOU DIDNT GETTO TROUBLE
Maybe inside of that creepy old back house is the famous BURT OFFERING swimmingpool from that movie!
Thanks do much for this. Very cool and well done.
Some movies or franchises should not be remade. This is one of them.
THANKS 4 POSTING
It was also in the movie Burnt Offerings.
Great house for phantasm thanks for the video
Wow..Holy Shyt. I live in Santa Rosa CA which is north west of Oakland CA. I used to trip of this film as a young kid 25 yrs ago now I want to go see the site.
Burnt Offerings was also filmed here.
One of those old horror flicks Me and my stoner buddy's would rent while taking bong hits back in 1980 something.
Favorite horror collection love these movies
What a wonderful place! Thank you,
It sure makes for one hell of a big and scary mortuary.
Wow, the mansion still exist, I can remember that I sometimes organised horror-evenings with my brother, when our parents where not at home. (when we were young.) In the dark livingroom with some candlelights. We watched than 3 movies and also Phantasm, scarry....
Awesome! One of my all time favorites!
Years ago I did an extended edit of Phantasm. I’d love to use some of your cool footage and redo it. They should have shot more around the mansion
Beautiful. But I wouldn't have gone past the bridge. Lol
Please, can you tell me where's the internal filming cemetery?
cool video loved phantasm
Beautiful. I wish I lived there.
It's a creepy looking house. I can understand why Burnt Offerings and Phantasm was filmed there. I wouldn't live in a spooky looking house like that.
excellent!! Too bad you couldn't go inside!
I think the entry is very dramatic. Cool place.
Just saw "view to a kill" which also features the dunsmuir mansion. Patrick Bauchau who stars in that movie would make a great tall man also. Coincidence?
Watch the old movie Burnt Offerings, that isolated structure is actually an old swimming pool.
The first time I saw this movie was 1979 I was high on LSD for the first time in my life let's just say I live that whole goddamn movie don't do drugs kids I need you to do drugs that make you hallucinate go see a happy movie
You did not mention the first movie that was filmed here Burnt Offerings in 1976 it’s a classic.
One of the horror greats. Do you live near there?
Very eeery feeling being there...it was awesome! hahaha
That's a really pretty house.
Why did you not get any shots of inside the house?
Nice video, huge fan of Phantasm myself. I live in Los Angeles, if you send me the addresses of the locations used here, I will post a similar video. Thanks.
thanks, saw 2 in 90 or bit earlier with my dad.
Same house exterior wise used in the 1977 horror movie Burnt Offerings.
After leaving the Theatre my Mates Valiant Charger was waiting for us to Drive Home it was like a UFO
me to! Great stuff for a movie filmed in 79!
I grew up in a house like that right down the road.
No way!! i so cant wait to see it...On my facebook page I have some stills you can probably use =)
I love it!
that movie gave me the creeps watched about 8 times !!!!heheheheh!!!
scary ass fucking place, I would not go in there even if someone offer me 100 thousand dollars, but for 500 thousand ill spend the night
So cool.
the old building is the place for some of the masoleum shots
They may not have used the shot from the beginning of the movie because the movie was 30+ years ago.
So where was the actual mortuary where they filmed the interior scenes?
Amazing film location!
The area inside the orange fencing is the pool area, seen in "Burnt Offerings"
Very cool, I will have to check it out!!! =)
rip tall man angus loved your character in the franchise
