    Love the clean look of the game and how the table space taken up slowly grows

    Thank you for making this video Rahdo! You do a good job of showing what goes on in a player's head while playing:)

    Streets looks excellent. Villagers was really well done, so this is an instant back.

    24:28 Can she not place the tile with the icons pointing south?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  4 роки тому +1

      nope, when you place a tile, the street on it has to connect to the existing network of streets

    When you stopped Jen looked to be in quite a bad state with the lack of building markers she had, and she hadn't done that much blocking. Would it be fair to say that using the city park is generally a bad idea as it doesn't add any symbols and it doesn't close either end? Did you feel that in 2 player you should get more building markers or did it feel about right with 5?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  4 роки тому +1

      the city park can be good if you've got the right tiles, like tiles that simply want more total tiles regardless of what they have on them. but tbh we've tended to stay away from it, and it more serves as a way to break up initial street layout :)

    I have been on the fence for Villagers for quite a while, but I’m a big fan of city builders, so... you convinced me 😁 (not game related comment: thanks for wearing that shirt, you’re courageous).

    Thanks for the rundown, Rahdo! I think the artist grew up watching Sesame Street, especially seen in the 'Hacker'! ☺️👍🏻

    And I thought I would wait till next month to back Cartographers expansion and Endless Winter: Paleoamericans. This indeed looks sharp and actually seems much more accessible than Villagers. Was always interested in Villagers but passed. Now there's an opportunity to get both I would think with Villagers as an add-on.

      Holy crap, I did not know there is a Cartographers expansion coming out. I need it... (really hope they add it and the mini expansions to the app too...) Anyways, this looks to be an amazing game, quite on par with Villagers and pretty much an instaback from me. If you thought Villagers was up your alley, then you'll probably be surprised at just how great a game it is. The production value is amazing, and from what I've seen Streets is going to be just as good. I'm super excited about this game.

      @@zedgathegreat9122 From what I've read, the Cartogrpahers expansion is called Heroes. Cartographers Heroes will be a standalone expansion with new scoring cards, discovery cards, and ambush cards that you can play on their own or mix with the components of the original game for greater variety from game to game. What's more, players will discover heroes as they map the landscape, and these heroes can help destroy monsters.
      Cartographers Heroes will be hitting Kickstarter in Q4 2020, along with three map packs that can serve as expansions for either standalone base game: Map Pack 1: Afffril: Plane of Knowledge, Map Pack 2: Nebblis: Plane of Flame, and Map Pack 3: Undercity: Depths of Sabek. Each map pack has a unique map, mechanisms unique to itself, and a few new cards themed to this setting.
      Long winded post. I see that if I get both Deluxe editions of Villagers and Streets it will be over $100 w/shipping. Not sure my wallet can handle that. May look to get Villagers in a trade.

      @@Fighterfan69 thanks for the info, it sounds really good. Can't wait to see more!
      As for Villagers, trying to track down at least the Kickstarter expansion is worth it (really hope this gets sold again). It's a really an amazing game on its own right though. Deluxe of Streets seems to be about the same. Do you really need the extra wooden tokens or are you fine with basic punch outs?

    Could you pleaaase start every game description by mentioning whether the game is competitive or cooperative, and what is the win condition of the game - is it gaining most victory points, area control etc. Sometimes it takes way too long in the video to discern these basic facts which are the most important factors in whether someone is even interested in the game or not. Also, not knowing what the win condition often means there's no context to anything else you do in the game which makes it really hard to follow your decisions.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  4 роки тому

      well i always say if it's a co-op game within the first 30 seconds or so, and if i don't then it's a competitive game. But sorry to say to me it's more important to quickly express who we are and what we're doing, rather than how to score points, because i'm not trying to teach how to play the game, but rather explains what the game feels like :)

    I loved Villagers and looks like a really good game. I’m just a little annoyed by how pandering the theme is to millennials.
