Nice to know that my Bolt EV is part of the development path which has led to the Origin, and which continues onward. My dad was an EE grad, class of 1926. He would have loved to see this.
I can't wait to see these things in action. I would also love to see eight-seater and nineteen-seater options. Front rows will be three seater and the back rows will be four seater. Also, make these things float/drive on water and fly in the air.
This is exactly what the blind/visually-impaired community needs. Sadly it will probably be 20 years before it is in my rural area. I wish I could get one for myself.
Failure by GM Cruise , they should have Designed the Origin with a Low Floor, Kneeling design with a boarding ramp for Disabled. this is why Cruise is a Failure.
If it runs for 18 hours, does it charge for the rest of the time? What is the range and battery capacity? How will GM secure the safety of occupants against robbery or assault? How will the vehicle be protected against vandalism? Can I buy one and run a local taxi service? Inquiring minds want to know.
I be guessing charging and maintenance/cleaning some people are just dirtier that others. Robbery I guess the doors had a GIANT CODELOCK. Worst case you just sit there until police arrive.
with a 200 Mile Range , it can run 18 hours and use a L2 charger to charge to 100% before the Morning Commute. IF you also have Solar Panels + Powerpack , you can power with Renewable energy. Occupants can stay locked inside, and have a Panic button that Contacts 911 Dispatch with a Automatic message and your Current Location. it However will be very HARD to Protect from Vanadlism. most Likely it will be Leased to TAXI company.
That was a cheap shot at Ford Motor Company because you highlighted a Lincoln Continental Mark III which was built between 1968 and 1971. This company is controlled by General Motors so just highlight the inefficiencies of vintage cars by using a GM car like a Cadillac, thank you.
Ambitious. But, most uber needs are single occupancy. Yet you made a bus. With bus aerodynamics. So you missed a say factor 4 optimization. You say it's a production vehicle, so can we see it in operation? will its operation be limited to frisco? when?
GM Cruise is GEO fenced, it can only operate a Tiny Fraction of SF and cannot operate on Highways or the SF - Bay Bridge. TESLA can operate Anywhere where there is Lane Markings and Striping. UBER/Lyft have Both single occupancy and Ride Share with Others. Cruise Origin is NOT a Production vehicle , as they DONT have a Factory yet.
@@markplott4820 Well basically it is all cheap talk right now. They didn't even mention when they are going to roll out the Cruise Origin so that customers can experience their product.... You know in germany we call something like that "Ankündigungsweltmeister".
In 10-20 yrs, Detroit Become Human will become a reality. Full driverless, pedal-less, & no steering wheel. And humanoid robots is also becoming a thing too (look up Harmony Robot on certain website 😉)
Utopian mentality. Usage will be marred by human nature. Imagine if all inhabitants of a society knew Ubers or Lyfts had no driver. The vandalism, human waste and sheer abuse of these vehicles will result in it's demise. How can a vehicle deter an attack on itself? If someone is in pursuit of a passenger inside, it will be incredibly easy to crash or stop the forward progress of it using it's own sensors. Passenger safety will not be there. A human driver immediately can react to the myriad of safety concerns that can crop up in situations where the rider (and driver/vehicle) are at risk. Even health concerns like heart attacks or stroke/ loss of consciousness issues need be addressed by a constant monitoring of what is happening inside the Origin's cabin. So not autonomous after all. Units will need be monitored by humans. The sheer expense of these systems do not seem to cover attrition based upon what will happen to unattended vehicles in human society. Instead, use cases are airports, campuses and very high end communities wherein elements if crime are few. Still, these units will experience vandalism, theft and all sorts of abuse.
Cruise - this is BS, you LIED the Cruise Origin is actually Larger than a TESLA model Y and is less safer than the Model Y. the Cruise Origin is GEO fenced and it cannot operate on the SF-Bay Bridge nor can it Operate on Highways. A TESLA skateboard costs way less and with 8 Cameras, Radar, Sonar can see in All Weather. you are Leaving out MOBILITY of the Disabled and Elderly as your Origin vehicle does not have a LOW Floor standard, kneeling or a Wheelchair ramp, the Cabin Design means you cant Accommodate Multiple wheelchairs or Mobility Scooters.

too bad it wont Happen, GM does NOT have a Battery/Drivetrain factory .
@@markplott4820 it happened 🤪

@4:57 "it is a production vehicle" which is the contradicted at @16:49 "by the time the Origin goes into production"
FACT is Cruise does not have a Battery/Drivetrain factory or a Factory to build the Origin.
Yeah, I caught the same thing
Congratulations! and thank you!
Exciting rollout! Please make one for a wheelchair.

Mark Plott they can easily add those features, and I’m pretty sure they will.
I really did not understand, why the camera on gimbal ? why can not have surround camera like tesla
When does something like this become available for personal use for those in the blind community that don't live in cities?
This is literally the future.
TESLA is the Future, Today.
Amazing.

Owl? I would think the wily fly would be the best creature to model AV.
Looks like the same layout as the Navya developed in Europe.
How did they get to the $5000 figure?
Where's the wheel chair ramp for elderly and special needs people? This would be the answer to many of the populations need for safe mobility.
Let me get this. Vehicle is ready for production yet sensor is a prototype? Is it me or lots of pat in the back and fluff speeches?
GM Cruise LIED, the Origin is a Prototype.
and its also Larger than a 7 seat TESLA model Y.
