Before their debut, XG was rumored to have a new girl group in YG entertainment(KOREA). They were attended by K-pop producers and Korean staff, the members received K-pop training, filmed MVs in Korea, and made their broadcast debut on K-music programs. XG initially entered the K-pop category with Apple Music and Spotify.(J-pop now) As a result, XG got a free ride to the K-pop fandom. Then, some Japanese say that XG's dance cover marked K-pop said to fix J-pop. XG company(AVEX) boss said that K-pop had no influence to XG. When asked XG members who their role models were, they answered, "Mom." In other interviews, they mentioned Western pop singers like Madonna as role models. Then they say they're X-Pop. LOL Black Swan, which has no Korean members, also calls themselves K-pop groups. On the other hand, XG are embarrassed to copy K-pop after they benefited from it. In histoy, ancient Japan received cultural transmission through ancient Korea, but japan colonized Korea in the early 20th century and insisted that ancient Japan dominated ancient Korea. Because of this history, some Koreans hate XG who copied K-pop and pretended not to be. But culture is something that mixes and develops. It's not about who wins or loses.
