Most men don't make poor relationship decisions like you as your mom was silly enough to spread her legs for a guy with no intention of being a present father who might've otherwise intervened to protect you from yourself. That being said, there are some scumbags out there but, _those_ "men" are generally raised by single moms like your own so, no matter how far back we trace it, your poor decisions and distrust of men end up being your and your mom's own empowered faults.
This movie is a heart breaker. Emily is so beautiful and I cry everytime I watch it at the end. I wanted them to be together, but they set each other free. This movie was my childhood and I'm 25 and still watch it on the regular. If I ever get married, I want 1,000 blue butterflies released into the sky versus white doves.
3:36 I always laugh at that 😂😂😂 also at the scene after where victor is telling Emily to sit down and wait it’s so sad cause we know what he’s planning, and she trusts him in such a innocent and cute way, not nieve, just gullible
7:41 this part is so much better in the Spanish translation cuz the guy instead of just saying that says “see?” In a giggly voice so as to make it all seem like a joke. It tells the audience how Victor sees the whole thing as an absurd situation

@@imacutesweet8163I don't think Victoria would have a problem naming her child after her late aunt... I have a theory... The Evergots were poor, and the Merrimacks were rich. Maudlin's sister, Emily, takes the family treasure and runs away into the forest, according to the story. Maudlin and Finis got married and had little Victoria. Villa Merrimack becomes Villa Evergot and we know this because both villas have a piano, Emily's piano, and a safe. I think that explains when Victoria says that her mother is against playing the piano, because, after all, perhaps Maudlin thinks that the melody will take her into romantic reveries and take her as far away as it took her beautiful sister, Emily. And I think that the Evergot villa during the time of the Merrimacks was much more beautiful and attractive during their residence, I think that it was not overgrown with creepers, weeds and the like, so that is why Emily did not recognize it as her home.... To summarize, Emily is Victoria's aunt and Maudlin's younger sister. Emily has never met Victoria due to the fact that Victoria's birth year coincides with Emily's death, which means she has been a zombie for nineteen years.
@@lindsaymosher4667 In the little screentime we got of Victoria, she shows plenty of character. We see her dream of being happy in marriage contrast with her parents' practicality, we see how she wanted to learn piano but was never allowed to, we see her try to find help for Victor despite seeming crazy, we see her so fed up with Barkis she's hardly shaken by the walking dead all over the place, and we see her approach to watch Victor's wedding from the sidelines despite everything else that happened. We see a character who has dreams and craves freedom, but who gets constantly held back. Ultimately, she encounters a situation where the one thing she thought was within her reach gets snatched away. She was ultimately handed that something, or rather that someone, instead of winning it herself, but that's because she's not a main character. Even then, that can be a beautiful lesson in itself, that although some situations are beyond control or we get suffocated by societal and familial pressures, it's okay to accept a gift. That happiness isn't something we have to "earn" in order to deserve. That sometimes people simply love each other, and that no amount of work or plot armor can change true love once it takes root. If Victoria, who struggled the whole time she was being dragged into situations she had no say in, has no personality then who in the audience does?
